The first 6 minutes are old but the last two are new

  1. Sheesh, if they keep releasing 2 more minutes of the premiere for the next 3 weeks, we'll have seen about 1/3 of the episode by the time it actually airs. :p

  2. HBO are releasing the first 2 episodes a week or so early anyway

  3. I feel like i'm gonna be incredibly disappointing by the Fairy storyline, these changes are huge and while I had been a fan of the book/show changes so far. I'm feeling bad about these!

  4. well that felt so..not True Blood-ish, i gotta say, i kinda miss when it was only vampires and were/shifters show.

  5. I feel like I just watched oe of those old original Star Trek episodes ... all that was missing was the red shirts.
    1st 3 - snore
    2nd 3 - better
last 2 - not sure ... I haven't read the books so I don't know how all of this fits in with the overall story arc.  Can someone who has read give us an idea if this story line is going to pan out in a satisfying way (without spoiling anything) or if I'm just going to watch Eric, Alcide, et al with the mute on?

  6. Honestly, I think the Fae will factor into the first 15 minutes to set up future seasons and then almost disappear from this season entirely once Sookie escapes Fairy world. There's almost no mention of them in future episode synposis, and they don't appear at all in the 4th novel.

This season is about witches and.... something else that I will not spoil, but is easy to deduce.

  7. This isn't in the fourth book! This is all new!! So I have no idea where this is going!!!!

  8. Thanks for the replies - I feel a little better knowing this isn't the main story but now I only wonder why they're showing it at all.  Is it really a sneak peek if it is of no consequesnce to this season at all?  That's like getting invited to an advance premier of a movie and they show you some indie film that just happens to have the same actors in it.

  9. Is this stolen footage?  If not, why is the quality such crap?  I have old VHS tapes that look better.  The sets in this clip looked... amateurish.  If Anna Paquin wasn't in the clip, I'd have thought this was a fan cosplay video.

  10. wow. I don't think that could have been less anticlimactic. I'm actually at a loss here...this is actually doing the opposite of what I assume the marketing department heads at HBO wanted. These sneak peeks are actually making my eager anticipation for True Blood dissipate. I'm replying to you specifically, MSWeimer, because you hit the nail on the head when comparing it to a cheesy scene from the original Star Trek series.

    Ummm....what the hell!?!?

  11. This doesn't feel like True Blood :-/ I had a feeling I'm watching Star Wars.

  13. As a fan of the book series, I was totally into this (though it doesn't feel like true blood, but I also think that could be a good thing)! I knew the fairy guy helping them escape would be Claude! In the books, the portal to "Faerie" connects to the woods behind Sookie's house, a consistency I now expect in the show. But honestly, the books aren't of much help when it comes to the True Blood plot because they're constantly shifted around in unexpected ways.
Here is a little bit of reference from the books: We have never visited the other side of the portal in the books, and Claudine (and her twin brother Claude) are Sookie's fairy cousins, though Claudine first claims to be only her "fairy-godmother". This is all under Sookie's badass great-grandfather Niall's command, who is prince of the water-fairies and also leading his family's side in the fae war. Sookie gets her fairy blood from Fintan, a half-fairy/half-human who her grandmother (Gran) had an affair with in order to have children, as Sookie's human grandfather was unable to do so. It seems the show is making Sookie's (human in the books) grandfather Earl into a fairy, though that's all we can really tell so far.
There is a lot of really great mythology built up in the Southern Vampire Mysteries about the source of Sookie's fairy blood as well as her telepathic powers, but it unfolds much more in the later books. Book 4 has hardly any fairy story line but as it really is just another type of creature with its own awesome mythology and kickass characters, I'm not surprised they're bringing it into the show earlier. Also, I have no idea who that evil leader fairy was supposed to be.

  14. Season 1 - Got me hooked
Season 2 - I was hooked, but had a hard time watching season 2
Season 3 - I thought was better than Season 2, but almost lost interest by the end
Season 4 - Looks as if I will stop watching this show if it is anything like this preview...

  15. Thanks for this back story - it helps a bunch.  I'm hoping they can turn it into somethig better than this - if it's just point of reference for future episodes, I'm not against it being in the show but I am a little irritated that this is what they're passing off as a sneak peek ... maybe they want to make TBW worse so we will go to that website :)

  16. Where i can find subtitles or transcript for this?

  17. If Eric looses his memory, then it WILL be based on the 4th book, just not entirely.
