Supernatural - Jared Padalecki Vows He Will Never Leave Show

24 Jun 2011

Jared Padalecki has insisted that he has no plans to leave Supernatural to pursue a film career.

The actor told Next Movie that he will remain "loyal" to the CW drama until it concludes.

Padalecki said: "If it weren't for Supernatural, I wouldn't have a lot of the blessings that I have today, so I'm going to play it out. I'm going to give it my all."

He added: "I'll be with the cast and crew for the remainder [of the show's run], as long as the fans want us on the air and the network obliges."

However, Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester, admitted that he would "love" to star in movies once Supernatural has come to an end.

"I'm still pretty young," he said. "I'm not going to be 29 for another month, so if the show goes another year, I'm 30. If it goes for five years, I'm 34.

"I think I'm hopefully in the dawn of my career, not in the dusk, so I think I'd be happier sticking it out with Supernatural."

Padalecki previously starred in 2005 film House of Wax and also appeared in the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th.

Supernatural will return to Fridays at 9/8c in the fall on The CW.

  2. Talk about dedication. But he can't leave anyway. They can't continute without him. They'll have to move on to a Cas spin-off :P. Still, he's awesome for saying that.

Though he IS doing movies while filming it anyway. Though I hope his next ones won't be crappy horror remakes (Didn't like the new Friday the 13th).

  3. all the actors of the show didn't want to leave it...it's a great show and above all a great family...hope that will be the same in the future

  4. cw sure lucked out with their Supernatural stars. These guys are so loyal and humble - they're both a credit to themselves, their parents, and the cw. It'd be nice if cw returned the favor especially now Supernatural is getting more noticed.

  5. The show's getting a lot more publicity these days (tv guide cover, some awards...) I think he'd be crazy to leave it, when it's finally getting noticed by outside viewers.  I just wish it could get higher ratings.  I love it, and I've recently gotten my dad and best friend into the show.

    Long live Supernatural!

  6. Padalecki has absolutely no reason to NOT say something like this.  He has everything to gain and nothing to lose by making this statement.

     - The show is closer to the end than the beginning so his declaration isn't really a big commitment
     - The extra fan adoration and loyalty he receives from a statement like this will only help him after the show is done
     - Television producers (re: future employers) love hearing stuff like this
     - The crew loves hearing stuff like this because it's one more step toward job security

    Shrewd move, Jared.

  7.  That's quite an assumption and I feel very disrepectful too .. From the start of SPN Jared has always maintained how happy and content he was on the show and would stay with until the end so his statement is not based on the series possibly ending as he has said this all along. I see nothing wrong with Jared's public announcement . I personally get tired of actors not appreciating their success and are always complaining about everything so it is refreshing to see an actor always being supportive of the success he has and his fans and that is very cool IMO !!

  8. "I see nothing wrong with Jared's public announcement."

Nor do I.  Regardless of how my assumption feels, it's a good career move to stay with the show until the end and it's made even better by saying so publicly.

  10. Why would anyone want to leave such an awesome show like Supernatural? Frankly, the idea never crossed my mind that anyone would want to leave until the series is officially over (and hopefully, that won't be for a long time to come). The cast and crew are wonderful people and the show would not be the same if someone left!

  11. And this is why we love him!  Here's to at least 5 more years!

  12. I totally agree with you! It never ceases to amaze me how humble, loyal, and just plain nice everyone associated with this show is! And they're all aware, from the writers to the actors of how special the show is, and they truly love it. And we love them for it, I think it's this shared love of the show that's made it what it is today!

  13. I think that's why the show works so well - amongst other things - for me. When the camera is off they are the same loyal, dedicated guys as the characters they are playing. In six years of Supernatural I never heard a rumor that they were fighting, flat out refused to do something, or demanding special treatment.

  14. There's something to Jensen/Dean I like that Jared/Sam doesn't have and the other way around too.. Dean is funny and has charm and is sexy, Sam is cute and sexy as hell..
