Supernatural - Favorite 5th Episode - Poll

5 Jun 2011

Well, Supernatural fans we are almost 1/4 of the way through our Supernatural episodes polls. So far we've had overwhelming winners. The fourth episode was no exception with The End winning with a whopping 62% of the vote so far, a far bigger margin than any other episode. A distant second was Weekend at Bobby's with 20%. Both excellent episodes in my opinion.

This round we have fifth episode polls. It's a contest that I have no trouble at all picking who I am going to vote for, but I have a very hard time knowing which one will win. I predict the votes will be more even this round, but I've been wrong before. Choices include:

Bloody Mary
Simon Said
Bedtime Stories
Monster Movie
Fallen Idols
Live Free or Twihard

Previous Poll Winners:

Lazarus Rising (season 4)
Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester (season 4)
Bad Day at Black Rock (season 3)
The End (season 5)

  1. Monster Movie is my hands-down winner for today.  I loved the black and white and classic movie feel.  Plus, the episode was really, really funny.  Dracula ordering the pizza.  Bwah!  I love this episode.

Simon Said would be second for me, mostly because Andy was such a great character.  I wish he could have stuck around a while.  This was the first Special Kids episode that really put things together for me.

Bloody Mary and Bedtime Stories were both good, solid stories.  Bloody Mary gave us a new twist on a classic villain and gave us the first hint of Sam's psychic powers.  Bedtime Stories was a cool idea and I loved how they updated the fairy tales.

My least two favorites were Fallen Idols and Live Free or Twihard.  The James Dean car was awesome and Paris Hilton was far better than I thought she would be, mostly because of the writers.  For Live Free, it showed how far RoboSam would go and gave us a great scene between Lisa and Dean.

For me, 5th episodes all hover between the great and okay.  Monster Movie is at the lower end of my top 25 and Fallen Idols and LFoT are both above my top 25 least favorite episodes.  The 5th episodes are all in the middle for me.

PS - Sorry this is up late.  We did a season 1 Live Chat marathon Friday night - Saturday on SPN Asylum and I was exhausted.

  3. Are you going to put all the winners when this votations ends? to see what season has more winners...

  4. Simon Said would be my number 1 cause it started up all the 'contestants' for Azazel.
Then Live Free or Twihard because anything making fun of Twilight is great, and Dean butchering an entire nest of vamps was great.
3rd would be Bloody Mary because as Dahne said it gave us a new twist on a classic villain.

Then the rest are ones I'm not keen on.  Wasn't a huge fan of Monster Movie, Fallen Idol was cool to see Paris Hilton get beheaded, and I don't really remember Bedtime Stories.

  5. Hard to choose between Live Free or Twihard, Simon said and Bloody Mary.
    Hardest pool fo me :D

  6. It's weird cause none of these episodes is one of my favourite, but I like MONSTER MOVIE most of them, so there goes my vote;)

  7. Although Live Free or Twihard was such a winner with its Twilight oriented jokes, I can't choose it over Monster movie, its black and white feel and Dracula

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sure.  That's a great idea.  Thanks!

  9. That's how I feel too.  They are all solid, decent episodes but nothing spectacularly phenomenal (although Monster Movie comes the closest for me) or spectacularly bad.

  10. Bloody Mary  the only Supernatural episode that gave me the willies lol.
Simon Said because  it introduced  Andy I miss Andy so loved the little guy.and Sams painful visions and it started opening up the pysche children story abit more.
The others are ok but didnt grab me so they would be pretty even for me.

  11. It was a hard call between Bloody Mary and Monster Movie.  But I had to go Bloody Mary for the win.  It was the first really "scary" episode that they had and so classic SPN.  It is always the one (after Pilot, of course) that  I suggest to people for the classic feel.

And of course that means, Monster Movie will be my number 2.  Loved the black and white.  Loved the shapeshifter, and loved all of the Octoberfest references. "Bar Wench..."

    3. Live Free or Twihard.  I loved our first glimpse of RoboSam.  Who could forget that smirk :)

4, 5, 6.  The remaining episodes were all pretty weak for me.  I did like Dean geeking out over James Dean's car and Sam fighting Ghandi

Simon Said and Bedtime Stories I had to really think about to even remember what they were about.

  12. I was stuck between Monster Movie, Bloody Mary and Simon Said.. I love all those episodes.. but I just had to go with Monster Movie, that episode was soooo funny! I loved Dracula XD

this is by far the hardest poll i've faced yet
i'm completely disregarding the last 2 as neither of them really did anything for me, even if that opening scene of LFoTH was very funny copying twilight
but i'm torn between bloody mary, simon says, bedtime stories and monster movie
of those four, i probably have rewatched monster movie the least times. but that just could be a factor because its in season 4 which was my least fave season so i've watche dit the fewest times (in some episodes cases only once which is very rare) so even though MM was a brillinat episode, i don't think i can vote for it
bloody mary is a classic supernatural episode. when i think of supernatural, i think of bloody mary. they took an old ghost legend and did their own version of it and i loved every minute of it. i still don't remember what it was that made dean's eyes bleed but i loved that episode and i've watched it a bunch of times. its pretty high up there on ym list of faves. also, i don't knoww if anyone has the boxsets but if you watch this episode in dutch, its hilarious. great evening of entertainment, especially if you don't speak dutch
simon said i always really enjoyed and its one that i also like to rewatch. i loved andy and was very upset when he was killed off but i really enjoyed this episode and the part he played in it. for someone who could make anyone do anything, he was a pretty chilled guy. and dean gave up the impala, its not often you see that happen
bedtime stories is such an interesting episode. i think it was a cool idea, the fairy tale killings. maybe the whole girl in the coma thing wasn't the best ending but it was different to stuff i've usually seen. and its like the only episode i ever watched wiht my brother so we have funny memories of watching it together which always saved this episode a spot in my heart just because whenever i thinkof it and rewatch it, its those things i rememeber.
none of this has made my decision any eaasier so maybe i'll come back later and vote

  14. Voted for "Simon said". The beginning of one of my favorite storyline of the series and also a great episode overall.

  15. Bloody Mary was my #1 choice. I loved how she was done, her character climbing out of the mirror was just great.

Monster Movie tied for #1 for me. I also loved the classic black and white feel. And the entire episode was just a laugh. Dean in the Hansel outfit was the scariest part. :)

Live Free or Twihard would come in 3rd. It was interesting to see Dean turn. And just how soul-less Sam really was.

Fallen Idol and Simon Said, eh.. they were good but I really hated the whole psychic kids thing.

  16. I went for Monster Movie, although I like all of these episodes the same amount really, apart from Simon Said which for some reason I just don't like as much. But in the end it had to be Monster Movie because of how funny it was, and it was the Supernatural team showing their creativity with their show even after 3 seasons. Plus Todd Stashwick as Dracula was priceless!

I loved all of those episdes (theyre all my faves of the series), but I went with Monster Movie b/c its light and funny. Fallen Idols is in close 2nd though b/c its fun watching Paris Hilton get her head chopped off :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Again a toughy! Fallen Idols got my vote because they ganked Paris Hilton and the brother's were getting back together. Monster Movie was just AWESOME but I went with brothers.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I voted "Bloody Mary", i like the horror feel like of the first season. Classic episode !! Maybe in my top 50 lol Simon Said and Bedtime Stories are great too :)
Monster Movie, Fallen Idols and Live Free or Twihard are on my least favorites episodes of the show especially Fallen Idols.

  20. This one was so hard for me to choose! I was debating between Simon Said and Bloody Mary, but I chose Simon Said as the winner. Like you said, we got insight on more "special" kids out there with similar powers like Sam's. Plus, we got insight on Dean and how he felt with this whole psychic thing.

I'm dreading to pick the finales. I don't want you to EVER go there :'(. I know, for me, anyway, it's gonna be so tough between season 2 and season 5. Anyway, let's not talk about that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Voted for Simon Said because Andy was great and I liked the psychic kids storyline.  Second choice would have been Monster Movie because of the black-and-white, monster movie feel.  The others were good too, though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I loved Monster Movie, but I'm going to have to pick Simon Said. I love Monster Movie because of the cool way it was filmed... but I love the story from Simon Said. I never get tired of watching it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. SIMON SAID! I loved this character so so soooooo much!

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is the first really tough one for me. I'm gonna go with either Bloody Mary or Live Free or Twihard, but gotta rewatch Bloody Mary first in order to be sure.

Unlike many, I actually enjoyed 6x05 a lot. I agree the Twilight mocking might not have been the SPN comedy we were counting on, but other than that, the episode was great. I loved the mystery around Sam & the terrifying smirk, Dean's vampire teeth and his vampire vision, I loved the nest and the atmosphere in it. The only thing I didn't like was grandpa with his magic cure.

Simon Said is out of the running cause I refuse to vote for any episode with Jo in it, and plus the physic children storyline wasn't my favourite one.

Bedtime Stories was a cute and pleasant to watch episode, but not much beside it. I liked Monster Movie, but it was too average again to get my vote (although love the Dracula pizza scene xD). Fallen Idols is probably one of the worst episodes of season 5.

Ok, gotta watch Bloody Mary. Will come back with my decision and vote later.

  25. I'll excuse your lateness in posting because I was there for most of the marathon and it totally ROCKED!!!!! It was so cool to chat through an entire season of Supernatural even though I was exhausted afterward.
I'll vote later when I've got my brain cells working again. :)

  26. It tends to be premieres and finales that people have the hardest time with, but it also leads to the greatest number of votes and most discussion.  Good thing is that people will have plenty of time to think about it because we will hiatus for the Best Show contest when Adam starts it.

  27. I loved Andy too.  He proved that the psychic kids could be good and more importantly, fun.  I loved his easygoing ways but also that when it counted, he could make the hard decisions.

Bloody Mary was classic season 1.  Although I have to say many SPN episodes give me the willies.  The bird in the pilot still makes me jump, and I know it's coming.

  28. Monster Movie was a unique episode and I think that's why I chose it too.  It had a slightly nostalgic feel and the pacing was a little different too.  But just like you, my favorite part was all the humor.  Dracula was hilarious, Jamie was awesome, we learned a new word "rehymenated", and the scene with the pizza guy was pure laughs.  I also loved when Jared tried to pull the ear off the movie guy only to realize he wasn't a shifter.  The whole episode was FUN in a season that was sorely lacking in both fun and laughs.

  29. Those are the 4 I looked at too.  In Bloody Mary, they have never said why Dean's eyes bled except that it had to do with a previous hunt.  Most people assume it was when the shrtiga attacked Little Sammy in Something Wicked but it could have been any case where something went wrong.

I've never watched SPN in another language.  I may have to try the Dutch version.  Especially if the hellatus gets as long as I fear it will.

  30. Easily, Monster Movie. Simon Said was in for consideration (because of Andy) but yeah... nah! Monster Movie is IMO the best one of the bunch.

  31. Ok, after rewatching Bloody Mary I just had to go with the magnificent horror of this episode. It reminded me of the times when Supernatural REALLY used to freak me out. I mean, I'm gonna have serious issues looking in a mirror for some time right now ;P so, sorry Live Free, but Bloody Mary is the essence of the first thing about this show I fell in love with.

I sooo wish we could go back to those horror roots of SPN. I love the newer storylines, they're definitely more intense and deeper than in season 1, but man, we don't get enough horror anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  32. can't wait to see what the perfect SPN season for the fans would look like!! (although I already do not agree with some choices, but I know all the winners are still amazing episodes!)

    ReplyDelete
  33. OMG the finale poll will be IMPOSSIBLE!!! I'll never choose between Devil's Trap, All Hell Breaks Loose 2, Lucifer Rising and The Man Who Knew Too Much!!! the only ones I'm sure I won't vote for are seasons 3 and 5.

I've heard that what people think it is but I always thought t was something else. I guess we'll never know

Yeah, I watched it in Dutch one night and I could not stop laughing. It's a great way to het through hellatus so enjoy :)
I ended up voting bloody Mary because even though I loved Simon said, BM was just such a classic supernatural episode. It was dark and creepy and evil and it's the highest of any of these my favourites list.
I'm surprised Simon said is winning actually, I thought it would be MM or BM but I love
Andy so I'm happy either way

  35. Monster Movie  - loved the old horror movie vibe and it was funny too.
    2. Simon Said - loved the Star Wars references.
    3. Bloody Mary
    4. Bedtime Stories
    5. Live Free or Twihard
    6. Fallen Idols - I didn't think it was bad per se.  I liked the concept of it, just liked the others better.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Seasons 1, 2, and 5...I can't even choose. It's asking far too much from me.

I wish they had made season 3 finale a bit better, but it was during the writer's strike, so I'll give 'em that one.

Season 4 was...meh...I don't know.  It just felt rushed for me.

I don't even wanna talk about the fuckery that was season 6 and it's finale. sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't wait though. Pretty psyched to have controversial arguments. haha

    ReplyDelete
  38. It will come down to seasons 1 and 2 for me although I loved season 6 also.  I will be in the minority that won't vote for Swan Song either.
