Supernatural - Colin Ford and NOT Brock Kelly confirmed to appear in season seven

28 Jun 2011

"Supernatural" begins production on Season 7 in Vancouver in early July -- and reps confirm to Zap2it exclusively that Colin Ford, one of our favorite recurring guest stars, will be returning as young Sam Winchester for the third episode, tentatively titled "The Girl Next Door."

Brock Kelly, who played opposite Ford as young Dean Winchester, is on deck to return for Season 7 as well. Though contracts have not been officially signed, Kelly's reps confirm to Zap2it, "There is a strong possibility that he will return."

The episode, expected to air on October 7, is to be directed by series star Jensen Ackles. It will be the first episode of Season 7 filmed, in order for Ackles to have sufficient prep time.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. tells Zap2it that Kelly will not be appearing in the episode. Reps for Kelly tell us that he is in discussions for future episodes.

  8. Sorry. I was looking at the title and didn't see you already knew that. Thanks for posting.

  9. The fact that Brock will be on during a later episode doesn't mean Colin won't be in that one as well.  All it means is they didn't get Brock for this one.  I do hope we get both of the Weechesters together for one episode.

Oh, yuck.  Colin Ford is a good actor but I'm wary of wee!Sam who basically despises and looks down on Dean and Brock Kelly was just a dumbass pathetic version of Dean.  No thanks.

  11.  Glad we are starting to get info on S7 Love Colin Ford's work he is sooo good as young Sam. Hope Brock gets a chance to come back. This is sounding like a terrific episode for Jensen to direct

  12. You can tell the story is being integrated with their career choices, Sam is getting some good material especially with reabsorbing the memories from hell which gives Jared some serious screen time. To Jensen directing and so far he put an amazing effort into it. If this show goes 10 seasons with this style I'll be more than happy to be a fan!

  15. I really like Colin Ford - he's got a great future ahead of him I think.

  16. I can't wait to see Colin Ford again.  He's a great young actor and I he's a very convincing younger version of Sam.

  17. I can't believe they start shooting again. YEAY! Hiatus can't be over soon enough.

I am looking forward to Colin Ford. I haven't seen him since the last flashback episode and I am curious if he's grown.

On this note, poor Jensen :D No matter how much he emphazised that he did not want to direct Jared, I guess there will a lot of Jared in this episode too. I am looking forward to future Cons to hear how the directing went (but I assume Jared will go easier on Jensen than on other dircetors).

  18. Sounds like there may be more than one weechester flashback episode in the works for season 7.

  19. This is great news! I love learning about the boy's history, and Colin is fantastic as young Sam! I'm also really glad to hear that we may see Brock later in the season, he was really nice at LACon, & he wanted to come back, so I really hope he get's to! I think he has good chemistry with Colin, and I'd love to see more than just how they interacted in school... Seeing them on a hunt together would be awesome! They'd be about the right age to do their first hunt without John, I think... Great things to come!

  20. This Hellatus is going really fast for me! I'll be so happy once they start shooting, one more milestone passed on the road to S7 :-)

I agree, the stories should be great at the cons! We should be able to hear some of them by ComicCon! So very excited!

  21. That would make me a very happy fan too!

  23. I originally posted this comment on the other thread as a reply to Dahne but scrolling down I later read  that he wouldn't be posting on that  thread again so I am re-writing it here. sorry for any in convenience.

Don't anyone get me wrong, I loved Brock Kelly's portrayal of teen Dean but I really thought that in Supernatural Christmas the boy Dean played by Ridge Canipe had a great chemistry going on with boy Sam.

The looks of understanding they sent each other were very similar to those between adult Sam and Dean
I don't know age-wise  etc.if Ridge is suitable to play against Colin. He would have to be 18 or 19 to keep more or less in the Sam -Dean age range.

I feel that the age difference is an important aspect of the brothers' presentation.

Jensen and Jared seem even more like brothers on screen because their age difference is similar to their characters.

If they ever did a first hunt episode, with or without John flashback, I think the writers should keep that in mind.

It would be nice even for those characters to grow with the show as Jared/Sam and Jensen Dean have.

Who knows what the far future could bring. regards

So, I am sure, I'm gonna hear EVERYTHING that's going on at ComicCon. No pressure though...

  25. I didn't really like Brock Kelly. He's a good actor but there was something missing... Every time I see him, I have to remind myself of the fact that he's actually supposed to be OUR Dean.

  26. Haha I think Jensen was just joking around when he said.

  27. I tend to agree with you. There was something that didn't quite click,
It wasn't in the guy's performance or anything but just overall.

To be fair however  it can't have been easy to find a young Dean actor.
    Jensen is rather unique!

Sorry about taking so long to answer but here in Europe we're 7 or 8 hours ahead of the USA, so when you guys get up we go to bed!
