Suits - Episode 1.01 - Pilot - Advance Review

On July 23, USA Network will be airing a brand new original legal drama series titled Suits. Suits deals with the fast-paced world of law in a Manhattan firm from the eyes of an intelligent new associate. When college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) is recruited by hotshot lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), he is entered into the high-stakes world of a top New York corporate law firm. Ross and Specter must cover up the unusual secret of how Ross was recruited from the managing partner Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) and rival of Specter, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), whilst dealing with legal cases of their own.

Suits features extremely witty writing, with excellent characters portrayed by a fantastic cast. Adams (Lost, Friday Night Lights) plays the likeable and intelligent role of Mike Ross very well, and already has a real connection with Macht (Love And Other Drugs), who is great as the hotshot attorney. Torres (Gossip Girl) has a strong presence when on screen, whilst Hoffman (Samantha Who) portrays the love-to-hate-him antagonist Litt very well. Meghan Markle (Fringe) also serves as the possible romantic interest for Ross, the stunning yet sophisticated paralegal, Rachel Zane.

The premiere is witty and humorous, with a fast-paced, non-stop 90 minute storyline that introduces every character well. Supporting stars such as Sarah Rafferty (Brothers & Sisters) who plays Specter’s assistant, Donna, provides some genuine laugh out loud moments. The soundtrack is also fantastic, featuring an excellent selection of songs to provide tension at all the right moments.

In summary, Suits is a highly enjoyable and very promising new legal drama from USA Network. With a further 11 episodes in the season, I can’t wait to see where the rest of the season of Suits goes. You can catch it airing at 10/9C on Thursday, June 23. Make sure you tune in, because I sure will be!
