Spoiler TV: The Best TV Show Competition 2011 - R2 - Day 18 - MASH vs Charmed & Burn Notice vs. Supernatural
30 Jun 2011
Cancelled Shows SpoilerTV Article Supernatural TV Show CompHey Guys,
The Second Round has claimed its first victims, and as a result we have to say goodbye to Castle which came within a few hours of defeating Chuck only to fall behind when it mattered. Both shows put up a fantastic battle and Chuck has perhaps claimed a stake in the competition that it could be one to reckon with. The X-Files had no troubles seeing off Flashforward, and for a poll which didn't get the online communities too excited it still managed over 700 votes and also has showed that it could be a big contender!
Today sees two polls sure to intrigue for different reasons; one has two old shows from different eras competing and the other has two of the shows with a huge online fan-base taking on each other. The questions that remain are can the critically acclaimed MASH find enough support to beat the ever popular Charmed and can Burn Notice find a way to put up a fight against the power-house that is Supernatural? Both questions remain to be seen...
The rules for, for anyone new to the competition are very simple. There will be new sets of shows against each other every day in a new set of polls... simply vote for your favourite and the show with the most votes will win that days poll and head into the next round.
Don't forget to spread the word, and tweet out the competition to friends as well as facebook liking the post...
Also if you are taking part in the prediction competition, don't forget to follow your scores HERE At the top Sergey Sevostianov continues to dominate, taking a three point lead with 34 points, yet a pack of three on 31 points including STV regular 'Dahne' are keeping him hot on his heels. Also worthy of note is STV admin 'b3rt4' is in joint 6th place on 30 points and keeping himself in contention!
All that's left to say, is good luck to every show...
... and let the battles begin!

I voted for MASH as it's credentials/awards/critical acclaim merit a passage to R3 and for Supernatural, as I've quite enjoyed the first couple of seasons...
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, Dahne... BN v SPN!
ReplyDeleteSo Happy Chuck Won voted for Mash and Burn Notice wanna see if SPN fans can be stopped
ReplyDeleteCharmed and Supernatural... I'm sad now that Castle lost... :'(
ReplyDeleteMASH & Supernatural. A pretty easy round even though I'm a faithful Burn Notice viewer.
ReplyDeleteMASH and Burn Notice here.
ReplyDeleteI love SPN too but they'll pull off the win without me.
Oh wow, Chuck won!? :D
ReplyDeleteLast I checked it was losing, so that's a surprise!
Yeah Chuck made a huge comeback
ReplyDelete:O
ReplyDeleteI knew it. lol
Wow! I wanted Chuck to win but didn't think it would! There goes my bracket (again) :P.
ReplyDeleteToday, MASH over Charmed hands down. I thought Charmed was pretty awful (the actresses were good, the story was less so) and MASH is a classic. And Alan Alda is my hero. So yay :).
And Supernatural (obviously). I mean, I've never seen Burn Notice, but we all know who will win :P.
Well, like the show, their fanbase gets underestimated all the time, yet somehow always manage to come through in the clutch.
ReplyDeleteHad to vote for M*A*S*H. Sentimental choice. I'd love to see Burn Notice win, but that Supernatural fanbase is downright scary. It's like Rebecca Black going up against Justin Bieber.
ReplyDeletewow SPN has almost 100 votes in less than 15 min can this show be stopped
ReplyDeleteComparing Supernatural to Justin Bieber... something you don't do after mentioning how scary it's fanbase is. xD No I'm kidding, you're right, a lot are pretty terrifying.
ReplyDeleteHa! Love the comparison!
ReplyDeleteVery accurate and apropos.
There has been some serious comebacks in the Best TV Show Competition this year!
ReplyDeleteIt's made for an exciting bracket challenge... even if they've gone against me most times...
everyone hide from the rabid SPNers... lol
ReplyDeleteGlad Chuck won. I wasn't too hopeful when I saw Castle beating it earlier.
ReplyDeleteThis time I chose my favourites. Charmed (because my bracket was already stuffed up by M*A*S*H beating Sopranos xD) and Supernatural because as well as Burn Notice did in the last round it's not match.
I'm pulling for Supernatural and MASH in this one! I like the others, but, I have to go with my favorites :-D
ReplyDeleteLet me start crying already in this competition. Supernatural, White Collar and Burn Notice are my favorite TV shows currently running. I hate having to vote against one of them. Burn Notice is undoubtedly the underdog in this competition and I'm tempted to vote for it just because of that. Fiona rocks, Sam is funny, Maddie makes me smile, and Michael is always good for some spy wisdom. And yet even with lines like "Duct tape makes you smarter" it has to be Supernatural for me. My hands-down favorite show.
ReplyDeleteThe Winchester saga has fascinated me for 6 years now and I'm just as excited about the seventh season as I was going into the second season. That's a record for me because usually I am bored or frustrated by the sixth season (Buffy I'm looking at you. X-Files you fit this pattern too.)
I know. I'm crying here. May I just say this SUCKS OUT LOUD. Drat that stupid random placement. I hate voting in this one.
ReplyDeleteAwww... We're not all that bad! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBlack vs Bieber... I might pay to see that!
lol Are you kidding? Supernatural fans are crazy! We can't be stopped! ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't say it was easy for me. Now I wish I had waited until later in the competition to vote. Burn Notice is great summer fun and I've always wished that Fiona and Dean would meet. Not to hook up - blah - but to blow stuff up. I think they would have fun snarking as they took out the bad guys.
ReplyDeleteI never really watched Mash, so I had to go with Charmed. Sorry Mash fans! :(
ReplyDeleteSupernatural over Burn Notice, hands down. Sorry guys! We're the undefeated heavyweight champs. We can't be stopped! ;) lol
Supernatural fans turned into Leather Face. lol
ReplyDeleteI think that Sam and uh... Sam would get along well too. They'd sit around, knock back beers, and poke fun at Dean and Fiona.
ReplyDeleteIn person, all the Supernatural fans I've met have been wonderful...And I volunteered at a con, so I've met ~2,000 & didn't have a single negative experience which is quite unusual for crowds of that size (I served 6 years at Disneyland ;-) I think it's just a few who really love to argue... It's a shame they give the rest a bad name... I've been avoiding the boards myself because I don't like the arguing, so I can totally understand what you mean.
ReplyDeleteEven though I love Burn Notice, my vote will always go to Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteOh no not even close bud.
ReplyDeleteWere just aggressive when it comes to polls.
Supernatural can be stopped. It came close way too many times last year. However, it will not be by Burn Notice. I think it's safe to say that many people who vote in this contest haven't watched or heard of it. It's a shame because Burn Notice is a lot of fun. Possibly the most action on TV combined with great humor and quirky characters. My hope is that today someone new will decide to try it. That will make it a winner in this contest to me.
ReplyDeleteI was pleasantly shocked this morning too. Although I don't think it will beat the X-Files.
ReplyDeleteThat's an episode I'm dying to see. Too bad fans don't run crossovers.
ReplyDeleteohh i dont know never underestimate CHUCK FANS
ReplyDeleteMash and Burn Notice today.
ReplyDeleteBurn Notice is solid summer fare. It rarely gets too heavy and doesn't take itself seriously but they have good character interaction and loads of action. My favorite character is Fiona, the ex-IRA bomber now turned Robin Hood. Well, except they help the little people out instead of stealing for them. It also has a lot of humor and I usually love the guest stars.
ReplyDeleteHa! For once I'm happy to be the Bieber in that comparison. The Friday song is downright atrocious. However, I think Supernatural has a lot more substance than Bieber and the fanbase is a whole lot older.
ReplyDeleteYes, but not today. :-P
ReplyDeleteI think the road ahead will be much harder than many people think for Supernatural. In fact, when I originally did my bracket, Supernatural was not my winner pick. If it goes to the finals, I fully expect it to meet up with Fringe and Fringe has shown itself to be more popular on this site than Supernatural more than once.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have to vote against one of your shows! I hate it when that happens & it's never easy.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about Supernatural... The writers of this show are amazing! Their ability to keep the story interesting and yet not compromise the characters is extremely impressive. They've been able to walk that fine line where so many other shows cannot. And they pull off multiple season story arcs that so many other shows would have lost along the way! The arc of the brother's relationship is the most impressive to me. We see reasons behind every change, and they took the time to allow it to be real change, and therefore so rewarding! This level of detail and care is something I've only seen before in my most favorite books. By pulling this off, the writers have gained my complete trust, and I am sure that they will handle future arcs as well... The path may be painful to watch, but the result will be worth it!
Ha! You may have a point. I think being a bubble show for 4 years (?) makes a fandom very adept at last minute wins. Congrats on getting the last season by the way. I will be rooting for X-Files next time but all respect to Chuck for the squeaker.
ReplyDeleteVoted for MASH (iconic show) and Burn Notice.
ReplyDeleteIts interesting because I thoroughly enjoy Supernatural but I feel like Burn Notice hasn't let me down as much as some episodes of Supernatural. Also, when Lost was on, I was a huge part of that fanbase and would defend the show always. But I joined in Supernatural late, and while I enjoy it quite a bit, I don't nearly as much as some of the vocal fanbase here. Don't really know what this has to do with the poll, but its interesting for me going from being in a part of a huge fanbase to the outsider asking "Why do you enjoy it 'this' much?"
Regardless, both are great shows, and I'll vote for either until it comes against 1 of my top 5 shows (Lost, GoT, TWD, 24, Community) which sadly 2 are already gone.
I don't doubt it. It probably will. I was just trying to joke around that Supernatural fandom can't be stopped! lol We're like the energizer bunny. We keep going and going and going.
ReplyDeleteMy bracket is RUINED. I thought Arrested Development and Dr. Who were going to go far... @_@ and they didn't. I had AD set for the Elite 8 bracket, and Dr. Who for the final four ;___;
ReplyDeleteHa! We are quite the passionate bunch. That's what happens when you have to support and promote your show to keep it on air. Thanks to TNT for making the job so much easier!
ReplyDeleteAww i alway wondered why the cancelled Charmed...i used to watch that show all the time
ReplyDeleteGotta love TNT! I have them to thank for finding Supernatural :-D I love this fandom!
ReplyDeleteSupernatural vs. Burn Notice -.-
ReplyDeleteThat we are! Not gonna let our show die if we have anything to say about it. Yeah, TNT is definitely a big help. I was watching Ghostfacers this morning. I wanna see them come back this season!
ReplyDeleteVoted for Charmed and Burn Notice.
ReplyDeleteI was a huge fan of Charmed when I was younger and I still enjoy watching re-runs, it was fun, apart maybe for the last 1-2 seasons which I found a bit meh.
And Burn Notice because I find it exciting, and I've been a fan of Jeffrey Donovan ever since Blair Witch 2. Yes, seriously, I liked watching that movie, don't flame me. :P
I guess I have to say the same reason why you enjoy Lost so much.
ReplyDeleteJust like some people out there that love Buffy more than X files.
There is no right or wrong answer on what your more passionate about.
Just like some people believe Supernatural is the only rapid fanbase.
Nope TVD Is just a vocal in have alot of ship wars that drive me insane.
Fighing is with all fandoms from what I observed cause it so many diffrent parts.
"Supernatural can be stopped"
ReplyDeleteI used to think so too, until I saw it beating LOST last year!!! (I think I voted for LOST back then)
Anyway, not that there is no LOST in the way (sniff, sniff) SN is the only show I will be voting until the end!
MASH because......well....it's MASH! I was there when it first aired and stuck with it till the end. Not a 'devoted' fan but still I enjoy the odd rerun.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural for me - haven't really seen enough Burn Notice to make this choice an issue (sorry Dahne, I know I keep promising to watch it)
SPN is the only show that has ever kept me hooked for so long. Most others lose my interest about half way through season two - if they even hook me in the first place. SPN has well written characters who evolve rather than endlessly remaining the same (although some lessons take longer than others - will they never learn to stop lying to each other?) . And they are generally engaging characters too - even the greatest villains tend to be of the 'love to hate' variety.
I love the well placed humor and the show's ability to laugh at itself, and involve the fans. It even does meta well (and no, I'm not saying they should do more - one meta ep a season is quite sufficient).
I'm also intrigued by the way SPN has been re-booted in S6. Sure it was rocky in places, and I was a bit worried about just how it would be done, but I believe it worked well - especially in the 2nd half of the season), I'm very excited about S7 and can't wait to see what the writers have in store for us come September.
And just a word about the fanbase. Yes. There are some fans who could do with a few lessons in manners, debating skills and appropriate behavior. But please don't put us all in the same basket. I detest being described as 'rabid' - even when the stars of the show describe us that way. I'm not a 'rabid' fan. But I am a devoted one - and I'll defend my show till the last credits roll on the final episode.
Charmed - It was the first show I actually followed through the years(maybe because it was one of the first shows airing over here).I could have done without the last couple of seasons, but I always enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural - It's late,I'm tired and I simply can not write down the million reasons that make Supernatural my favorite show..ever!
To be fair though,I've heard good things about MASH and Burn Notice. But I haven't watched either,so it wasn't such a difficult choice for me tonight.
Ha! I hope we get another Supernatural vs LOST showdown this year or else my bracket busted somewhere.
ReplyDeleteAgree, agree, and definitely agree about the last paragraph. But tsk, tsk - still no Burn Notice. You are missing out my friend. :-P
ReplyDeleteSounds like you need some fanfiction for those scenarios :)
ReplyDeleteOh it can be stopped, but only if not a single person in the fandom is voting because as soon as one finds their way in, then they do a call to arms to the rest of the saltgunners, and before you know it, you're surrounded by the fandom :) We're a loyal and active bunch :P
ReplyDeleteMASH losing to Charmed? Really? Well it's to be expected I guess :( As I said in the last round, MASH beats pretty much anything for me so voted for it. The other poll is hard because I'm not a particular big fan of either of those shows, but I like SN better.
ReplyDeleteCharmed and Burn Notice
ReplyDeleteFirst vote goes to MASH. I loved that series.
ReplyDeleteSecond one goes to Supernatural. Even if I love Burn Notice and seen every episode it still hasn't the rank in my heart as SPN does. For that matter no show has - as great as some may be.
I'm losing enough already can't MASH just win this one?
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, and I can't believe that MASH is losing to Charmed
ReplyDeleteSo glad you tried Supernatural after last year's contest. I'm hoping some other viewers will give it a try this year. I think that's what I love best about this competition. Being able to promote my favorite shows to others and in return finding new shows to pass the hellatus with. You're doing a social service here man because people get cranky in hellatus.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Any suggestions anyone? I've read some BN fanfic but nothing crossover.
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm a devoted Burn Notice and White Collar fan too. Does that help?
ReplyDeleteSupernatural vs. Burn Notice? I hate you guys! (Of course, I still voted for Supernatural). And while I did enjoy Charmed when it was on, MASH is still a classic.
ReplyDeleteI agree with those who say while Charmed was cute and rather entertaining, Mash was MASH, for Pete's sake! Now all we need is for 45 people to come home from work and vote for Mash.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid to vote in anything with Supernatural because dark powers might come and get me :)
MASH is doing a decent job but I just don't think it has enough online communities to win this tie... the years won't have been kind to it so to speak.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural is doing great I see, but I agree with a few people here in the fact that all is not set in stone. It can be beaten!
You voted LOST over The Vampire Diaries?
ReplyDeleteI think this is the toughest tie to call in the entire competition, and will have a huge effect on it as well...
I debated a lot and took into consideration that LOST was a canceled show while VD is still going on. Then I took a leap of faith. It will probably boot me to the bottom of the bracket but quite honestly I made a far graver decision earlier in the contest so by the time we get to that round it won't matter anymore. :-)
ReplyDeleteI voted for Mash because it is one of the finest shows that has ever appeared on television. I voted for Supernatural because it is the only show on television that have I never missed an episode of . I own the first five seasons. I have the all the magazine, the books, I finally attended a convention and have met some of the actors. They are very nice guys. Not a one of them is rude to a fan. They actually care about them. That's a rarity in the industry. They are good actors. Every single one of them. I admire the fact that they all care about each other, the crew, and what they do. The show is quality. Yeah, I voted for it.
ReplyDeleteSPN all the way!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm just going to say it. Burn Notice was awesome tonight! Sharon Gless rocks and the ending made my night. If you haven't seen it, there is an encore episode tonight. Watch it!
ReplyDeleteVoted for Supernatural as I've enjoyed the first 3 seasons that I have recently watched.
ReplyDeleteso you're barely stating to watch it?
ReplyDeleteYeah, Just started watching it 2-3 weeks ago and I'm already in season 4. lol
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the family! I watched seasons 1-5 on dvd/ online over a few months before i caught up to season 6 on tv. I started Bones 6 weeks ago and im almost on the 100th episode.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the fandom. We are really glad to have you. I hope you will share some of your thoughts about the seasons as you go. There's a pretty good thread in the forum and they haven't gotten to season 3 yet so by the time you finish it will be caught up.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=22756
charmed loved charmed so much and still watch re runs whenever i can
ReplyDeleteand supernatural just hands down the best show ever
MASH & Supernatural hands down! I love Burn Notice but I love Supernatural more!
ReplyDeleteI liked Charmed (especially when Cole was around), but I think MASH is the superior show, which doesn't really matter because I accidentally voted for Charmed. And I voted for Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteWaiting on Netflix to stream Burn Notice.
first poll, don't watch either so voted with my bracket, charmed
ReplyDeletesecond poll, supernatural, no question
supernatural is my fave show so there was no way i wasn't voting for it
although i watched season 1 of burn notice and it was pretty good so if i ever get time i plan on watchingmore
that LOST vs. supernatural battle last year was EPIC!!!!!
ReplyDeletei also wish we could get another one of those this year but ireckon vampire diaries will win, its been so long since i've seen any LOSt. i miss my favourite island :(
I feel very unsporting to say this but I only vote in the for Supernatural poll and not for any other shows.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I do other than hang my head in shame!
Supernatural for the No 1 spot.
Only fair as it always gets passed over in the "real "awards such as Emmys etc, whereas most of the other shows in the poll have had some kind of nomination or win. regards
Supernatural and Charmed :)
ReplyDeleteI love both shows so much.
Don't feel bad. If you haven't seen either show and you don't have a bracket, it makes a lot of sense not to vote in a match. And yeah, I think the reason Supernatural does so well with online polls is that fans believe they are constantly overlooked.
ReplyDeleteWell, it may only be a feeling but there is definitely a grain of truth there too!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the crop of shows lining up for the new season like Tera Nova, Alcatraz etc. will all have their nice awards in no time flat.
If they turn out to be good shows then it's only fair that they do win, of course, but not always do the best shows get the honours.
This is all hypothetical, for now we'll concentrate on winning the Spoiler tv poll. Fingers crossed!!!! best regards
i voted for charmed and spn even tho that last one was really hard cuz i like both shows...but i've been a spn fan longer so spn got my vote.
ReplyDeletelol because Billie and Christy came along and ruined everything. And it was all too evident that the leads were tired of that show.
ReplyDeleteAaaahhh, me too...
ReplyDeleteOh, just saw this and thought I would respond to that last paragraph. Personally, I often use the term rabid in jest. Whether I'm referring to SPN fandom or something else. I would qualify myself as a rabid fan of Game of Thrones. I use it as a synonym for devoted. It doesn't in any way imply anything about the nature of the fanbase. Yes, some members are unpleasant and immature and vocal about said immaturity, but that isn't why I use the term rabid.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I apologise if it offends you or if others have used it in a negative fashion.
I know most people do use the term as a synonym for 'devoted', but for me 'rabid' definitely has negative undertones. And I do realise that some fans fully deserve to be labelled as 'rabid'.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I do see the humorous side of the label, and it doesn't offend me unless it's used in a derogatory way - which it often is (although not so much here on SpoilerTV - thankfully). So feel free to continue using it, knowing you're not offending me :) unless of course you ever DO intend to offend me - then it's ALL ON!!!! :D
SUPERNATURAL WILL OWN!
ReplyDeleteSupernatural fans WILL NEVER be stopped, we TRUE fans are loyal to the CORE, so sorry to disappoint ATA ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are right. True SPN fans are awesome and dedicated, our critisms are few but constructive. We love our show and crew/cast.
ReplyDeleteCan't happen..... ;)
ReplyDelete
