Showcase's late night drama Blckstone has been renewed (though there is still no confirmation that season 2 will air on Showcase)
MORE TO COME FROM AWARD-WINNING SERIES
* Blackstone ‘Green Lit’ for Season 2
Prairie Dog Film + Television is thrilled to announce a second season of Blackstone has been ‘green lit’ and is now in full development. Producers received the news on the eve of Blackstone winning three Rosies at the Alberta Film & Television Awards on May 28.
Following the first season’s cliffhanger finale, Season 2 of Blackstone will commence after the strip club shooting, and continue to delve into the tumultuous lives of the residents on the Blackstone Indian Reserve. Production of the new series will commence this summer, on location in Edmonton and rural Alberta.
THE ROSIES
The 37th annual Alberta Film & Television Awards (aka The Rosies) were handed out during a sold-out gala in Edmonton over the weekend. Celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in Albertan film, television and new media, The Rosies honoured Blackstone with three awards:
* Best Production Reflecting Cultural Diversity
* Best Alberta Actress (Roseanne Supernault)
* Best Screenwriter Drama Over 30 (Ron E. Scott)
Blackstone was nominated in a total of nine categories at The Rosies. It has also been nominated in five categories at the 2011 Leo Awards, which take place June 11 in Vancouver.

" Global says King me for season two" what does that mean?
ReplyDeletei guess King might be airing on Shaw Media's bigger broadcast network Global in addition to Showcase
ReplyDeleteThis is a big pile of suck. And sadness. And woe. :'(
ReplyDeleteSeriously they cancelled Endgame? What intellegent drama too much for stupid executives? Honestly and they wonder why the public is treating the networks with such disdain
ReplyDeleteThe cancellation of Endgame had nothing to do with executive preference and everything to do with the fact that absolutely no one watches Endgame. The ratings are astoundingly bad.
ReplyDeletereally sorry it has been confirmed Endgame is cancelled - no different time slots? nor more promotion? no second chance - great performances by Shawn Doyle and the rest of the cast are a great mix of interesting characters in their own right :(
ReplyDeleteI would really like to know what the last episode for Endgame will be, and honestly good TV series such as this just wont make it in the world due to television being about "Vampire drama's" or... reality TV makes me sad to see how society is declining every year.
ReplyDeleteIn actuality. The Ratings were fine. And in some cases the best Showcase has ever had. Certainly outperforming the other shows they are trying to push right now. It is I'm afraid an exec's personal agenda AND the fact it didn't find a US sale of yet AND the fact the show resides in Vancouver and NOT in Toronto
ReplyDeleteWe get ratings updates for Showcase from tariqq all the time. I've seen the ratings. They weren't fine. Not by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteEndgame premiered to 232,000 viewers and took a steep nosedive from there. By week 3 it had lost over 50% of its premiere audience. Most episodes drew fewer than 120k people and even had as few as 75k for an episode.
No one is going to gasp in amazement when a show is canceled with ratings that low.
I'm sorry to hear that Endgame got cancelled!!! I was really enjoying the show and loved Arkady Balagan! I hope showcase will reconsider and put it on for the new year.
