Question of the Day - What freshman drama series cancellation was the most disappointing this season? (Poll)

3 Jun 2011

Welcome to this weeks final Question of the Day. Today's question comes from Bruce_F who asks.

"What freshman drama series cancellation was the most disappointing this season?
(I say it's a tie between AMC's Rubicon and FOX's Chicago Code.)"

Well this is a good question seeing as how many great shows were cancelled this year. Is it just me or did more shows than even get the chop?

Right, for me there are 2 shows that I personally was very sad about. First was The Event, which was just starting to get going, much like last years Flashforward, however as per usual the shows I like get binned!

But my number 1 show that was cancelled has to be, like Bruce, Rubicon. This was just a unique, compelling, well written and acted show that I should have known was doomed.

So what about you? Which new show that had just got you interested was cruelly pulled away by the Cancellation demons! Sound off in the comments and vote in the poll below, which you can pick 2 shows from. Let us know who you voted for and why.

Have a great weekend and see you all next week.

  1. Lonestar in my opinion, although we only had two episodes they were amazing

  2. Hellcats (guilty pleasure) because it did actually have a good plot with Travis and thought they could get more of that.  And No Ordinary Family, sure not the best but entertaining at least with good actors/actresses (except for the final fight scene which felt like a B movie).  I see why they were cancelled just hoped for one more season or at least to wrap up some storylines.

  3. The Chicago Code, The Event and Chase were awsome that would be my top 3
+ Breaking In, Choas, The Cape, Criminal Minds - Suspect Behaviour, Detroit 1-8-7, Law and Order : LA, No Ordinary Family, The Whole Truth, Undercovers, and Rubicon
Hellcats didn't came as a suprise let alone the trailer for the show was bad, watched it trough and it got a bit better, still no suprise there

  4. The only one I was particularly bummed about  sadly wasn't included on this poll: Better with You.

  5. My favorite " The Defenders" wasn't even listed!

  6. Terriers & Rubicon. But Lonestar & Lights Out are also a loss.

Terriers & Rubicon. Also Lone Star and Chicago Code.

    Running Wilde is comedy btw

  8. For me, there are three shows. The Event and The Cape, which were getting better from episode to episode... and the Whole Truth. I think, it was something different, and I liked it very much.

  9. The Good Guys - It was awesome and I loved it.
The Whole Truth - ABC kept messing with it and it was such a great show. I want to see the rest of the series!
Better With You - That was the perfect series finale, but I'm still bitter ABC cancelled it. The show fit perfectly in the Wednesday comedy block!

  10. Rubicon for me too. I just loved the series, and it felt like a waste of possible good television material when it was axed.

  11. Proud to say I didn't watch any of these shows. Mostly just ones I tried to watch but then gave up.

I heard Lone Star had potential though.

  12. Rubicon. Without a doubt.

  13. I will have to say, for me, it was Mad Love.  It wasn't a great show and had a so-so half-season but the finale was the best of the season and it left me wanting more.

  14. Oh yes, I forgot about that one too!

  15. The Chicago Code :( It was brillant, a great cop show.

  16. The Cape. 'Cause it has music by Bear McCreary. That equals = destined for success..

  17. No Defenders?

    ReplyDelete
  18. you forgot brothers and sisters

  19. The Cape - There was potential for that one. Nothing like that on TV now.
The Defenders - Simply Jim Belushi's best series yet. He and Jerry O'Connell were great together.
$#*! My Dad Says - I know it's not the most popular, but it got better and pulled away from that Twitter thing that spawned it. It was so like All in the Family, it kind of made me nostalgic and feel warm and fuzzy all over.

  20. That's not a Freshman show, it's being running for several seasons

  21. Only Chaos for me. I wasn't watching anything else that was canned. But Chaos hurt. What a cute little show. And they stick it on Friday. In April. Without any promotion. My friends didn't even know about it until I told them and they watch a bunch of shows on CBS :(

  22. The Event and The Cape both had so much potential. I dunno.

  23. Breaking In was hilarious, with an amazing cast, witty lines and fantastic storylines. It's a shame they cancelled it.

  24. Rubicon and No Ordinary Family =/

  25. Definitely Terriers, followed by the very short-lived, but full of potential Lone Star.

  26. Rubicon then Terriers for me. Two very original, well acted series.

  27. I know I am alone, but I felt the Lone Star pilot had more potential than just about every other pilot of the 2010-2011 Fall Season. Unique, well acted and showed signs of a well crafted story arc to boot....

  28. Rubicon. How the hell could they cancel it after that mind-breaking finale!?

I never saw The Chicago Code but I also voted for it. Shawn Ryan's shows are too good for Network television.

  29. I was disappointed to see the end of Chicago Code, Terriers, Rubicon, Mad Love, Lights Out and Hellcats.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Rubicon and The Event.  And darn it, I was into Off The Map :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Everyone who didnt vote for "Terriers" dont know anything about good television.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well excuse my ignorance for not watching a show I didn't have the channel for.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The Gates was so good and had such a great potential. And Hellcats too - that show had a good plot

    ReplyDelete
  34. Breaking In, Off the Map, Rubicon and Undercovers!

    I LOVED THESE SHOWS. -.-

    ReplyDelete
  35. I LOVED "The Chicago Code" and Detroit 1-8-7.  They both were realistic police dramas. Liked "Chase" a lot also.    Could never buy in to that whole story on The Event.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Gates had been my number 1 show earlier this year and when they killed it, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. But...as for a newer show, I'd have to say Hellcats. Hellcats and The Chicago Code. People have forgotten what a good show really means -_-

  37. After things like Flashforward and journeyman were prematurely axed, no one should have been surprised by the demise of The Event.  I think we should call our Alderman about The Chicago Code.  Maybe if the Fox Suits stop getting their trash picked up and have those gaping pot holes in front of their place left unfixed, they will get he message!

You're proud to say you didn't watch "Rubicon"?

Only thing "The Cape" was destined for was the dust bin of history.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The two I couldn't check was Good Guys and Hellcats, But I'll miss Breaking In and Chaos a ton.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The chicago code got robbed.  I still don't understand why FOX cancelled this awesome show.  I'm also sad to say goodbye to the whole truth and chase.  :-(

    ReplyDelete
  42. Most probably the wrong word choice, but just glad I didn't watch any new shows that ended up getting cancelled this season.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hands down The Chicago Code, I'm wishing TBS or USA or TNT would save the show like Southland was saved.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hellcats! They got a better footing in the last six episodes..

    ReplyDelete
  45. Tough choice because a lot of good series were cancelled. But Shit My Dad Says was a big surprise to me. Definitely.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rubicon and The Chicago Code! I thought they both had great potential!

    ReplyDelete
  47. The Gates, The Cape and No Ordinary Family. Loved these shows and thought they all had so much promise. Can't believe The Cape didn't even get to air all it's episodes.
