    Absolutely. It won't be the same, especially if Ellen leaves too. But I'll still give it a chance.

    I'm not sure. I'd like to see what they'd do if Patrick (and Ellen) left, but it's definitely not going to be the same.

    As long as Jessica Capshaw is on the show I'll be watching! Patrick Dempsey as great as he is is no longer the star....There are plenty of other excellent characters that can carry that show

    I'll will not watch this show anymore MD are the stars of this show when they go, I go with them, this show went downhill when they got to many characters as Owen, Arizona,April, Teddy and Jackson so I will be happy when both Patrick and Ellen leave so I can finally stop watching this crap fest!

    I will stop watching this crap fest because the show is crap and I am contractually obliged to use the word crap all the time when talking about Grey's Ancraptomy to make myself look either 'cool' or 'big' because that's what insulting shows does now a days?
    In all seriousness, if Shonda Rhimes believes she can do the show without Dempsey then I trust her, Grey's and Private practice have given some of the most consistently good TV viewing throughout their runs (admittedly maybe not Private Practice Season One), so yes, I will watch and I will enjoy.

    Well I think it's just wrong to continue the show without your lead characters:p
    This show started with Dempsey and Pompeo and should end with them. I think when Dempsey leaves there will be a huge hole to be filled, but thats manageable. 
    But if Pompeo (Meredith) also leaves, then there is just no more Grey in Grey's Anatomy. Even when Lexie stays, it's just not the same.

    I think it must end after this season -though it's hard for me to say 'cause it's my favourite show- I just don't believe it would be the same. It stopped being the same after T.R. and Katherine's departure and it surely won't be if Patrick leaves. They should just focus on making this season the best, as it was in the first seasons. Actually if you see it closely, the first season ends as this season will begin -kind of a break-up between Mer and Derek and Christina thinking of an abortion-. If they continue I will see it, but I hope they don't.

    The McDreamy years are definitely behind him, I don't watch Grey's Anatomy because he is part of the show. So I guess I will continue to watch even when he is no longer part of the show.

    With Pompeo and Dempsy both saying that season 8 will be there last I think that ABC should end the show after 8. I don't know if it can pull an ER and still be decent it'll more likely be a CSI and have us still wondering why it's on TV

    Sure.  If you were to tell me that, after next season, the only change to Grey's would be Dempsey's exit then I would certainly continue to follow along.  Honestly, the most interesting thing about Derek Shepherd was always the fact that he was involved with Meredith.  Outside of that dynamic, his character isn't really all that compelling.

    I'm not entirely convinced that Derek really added anything interesting to the show, at least as of late.  Even last season when he was shot, I was more worried about how it might affect Meredith and less about, you know, him dying.

    in my opinion his character wasn't that interesting last season. also meredith ... it just gets a bit boring with those two. they seem so slow to me and maybe it's because their story has been told and they want to stretch out what's left. so i think it's ok if they leave.
