I liked what i saw... and I liked all the set up/foreshadowing going on but there was just so much going on! i think they should off cut back on some plot lines and left them for ep 2 not everyone had to be introduced, this way they could of done more for plots that needed to be there for Episode 1. Not the strongest season premiere but still i like where this season is going.
It was honestly pretty fun, but it has veered off course from the books so, so much. It seems like Alan Ball is just inserting story lines to try to shock. Ironically, Every one of the "big surprises" was more obvious because of it.
I just hope it doesn't stay so predictable for me. I deliberately avoided any spoilers, but knowing Mr. Ball would want to try to shock it's all too easy to know where he's going. If I 'm going to know exactly what was going to happen I would have preferred he'd stayed more true to the books... Shrug.
I like a lot of the apparent season story arcs... and assuming I can get past the massive changes from the books it could be a pretty fun year.
episode 1 was really good but i loved episode 2, the entire episode 2 i couldnt move my eyes were so dam fixed i loved jason getting bitten by the panthers.
I also dont know how to feel about the HUGE changes from the book.. I guess as long as the main stories stay the same (the upcoming amnesia etc) I guess its ok.. but I dont like how they are making Bill so much more important than what he is in the books.. :-(
In one way I can understand them keeping Bill more important since Stephen and Anna have great chemistry. I can't understand them downplaying Eric so much or twisting him to be as deceptive as Bill. In the books Sookie always knows where she stands with Eric and he is her savior more often than Bill too.
The other book change that irks me this year (last too somewhat) is Claudine. She is supposed to be this over six foot tall goddess of absolute beauty to everyone who meets her. Not at all the Claudine in the series. Fairly small complaint in the big picture I guess, but the book Claudine was so fun and gregarious..... TV Claudine is boring so far.
Play nice now..... I liked episode 4.2 more than the premiere also, but let's not discuss it until next week to avoid spoiling for those that don't have HBO or didn't download it etc....
It did push me into liking the season more... great episode.
Weird, but also quite cool in some scenes. Still, so far it didn't make up for the rather bad last 3 episodes of s3 for me.
Enjoyed most scenes with Bill, especially those without Sookie. Was surprised he's king now, apparently he was able to kill the queen...
The whole witch story with Lafayette was rather bad. Awkward scenes and a terrible look for Lafayette... Did I really see Luanne from Sons of Anarchy in the witch circle?
Andy apparently being hooked on vampire blood was some kind of a surprise, the rest of the story wasn't really. Hope Ball came up with a major story for s4 which should be introduced soon, don't want to see too many separate plots again this season.
Hay i dont think she was being smug , but i do agree that it's kindy ruing it for everybody else , i mean i know this is a spoiler page lol but there's spoilers and then there are big ones like that xxx
At first I was a little confused by the whole time warp thing for Sookie (and everyone else), but once that was over, the show was awesome! It has been a long year and it is great to have True Blood back. I am looking forward to another great season and I think this will be another great one!
Hmmmm....I can´t say that I was too happy about this episode. I wish season 4 would be more true to the books. I don´t like Bill as the king, it simply doesn´t fit his character. Also Andy on V - didn´t work for me. Jason wasn´t as funny as I had hoped.
But Pam was as good as always - love her!! And Eric and Sookie are wonderful.
I look forward to seeing 4.02 and hope that I´ll like it as much as you guys.
Good episode :) .Eric is a hot piece of ass ;) wof wof. But i thought that was sweet of him for keeping the house for her though i do believe that it was for his own advantage if you know what i mean lol .
I guess they had to give Bill the power since he can't have the woman. ;) Still, becoming King of Louisiana instead of going to Peru... I actually can barely stand Sookie and Bill on screen together. It's actually pretty entertaining to watch him this season, but when he's not around Sookie. Maybe because of the mournful irritating looks he throws at Sookie, maybe because every other word he says to her is a lie... On the other hand,it's a real pleasure to see Sookie and Eric. Chemistry and tension going through the roof. :)

Episode 2 is fabulous and I think you're going to like it if you like the books. :) Andy on V must be my least favourite storyline this season. We've already seen V-addicts- Amy, Jaso, Debbie Pelt... I wish they had tied him with the supernatural in a different fashion. :/
Honestly, i'd just like to say I liked this episode, it's probably not as good as some but I thought it was a pretty good start for what's about to come. Now this may sound like a rant, but i'd just like to say I am Team Eric, but does anyone else feel like he isn't as big a character as he is in the books. For example, he always say "I'm the only one who cares about you" but he hasn't shown it at all in the TV series, whereas book Eric is always saving her, it just seems to me that he doesn't show he cares for her. Oh, and King Bill? Are you kidding me?! :| I have no idea where thats going to take us as the rest of the books are focused more on Sookie working for Sophie Anne. But overall, a good start and I can't wait for more. (:
Happy to hear that! I don´t even want Andy to be envolved with any supernatural stuff. I like that there is a few normal people in the books. That makes the others stand out.
I agree. Eric is a bigger character in the books and needs to be in the series aswell. I think everybody that reads the books are Team Eric (I know I am). So hopefully Alan Ball will give us some more Sookie / Eric scenes.
I don´t like Bill as the king. He is just not the type......hmmm...hopefully it will grow on me.
Looks like Jasons story will follow the books. Yay! :-)
Bill is a main character on the show and fans are liking his presence. I'm sure in the book he takes a back seat, but on a show version, the writers don't wanna lose the actor.
I have the same doubts about the changed from the books as some others have. I am, to be honest, not a big fan of the show anyways. I always liked the books better (and I absolutely love those) ... Book 4 was my fave book, which makes me all the more scared about how they will deal with the storylines from the book in the show ... or how they will not.
About the fairies ... I totally did not like that part. The first 5 minutes of the show almost made me stop watching.
But then we found out at Sookie has been gone for 12 1/2 months, and I have to admit that I quite liked that change to the books. It's an interesting idea and it seemed a good and elegant way to have the characters progress a little bit ('Cause not really much time has passed since season 1 ...).
And what the hell about the end ... ? The house is mine, so you are mine now? That was totally ... well ... I'm sorry, but that seemed stupid. And too much. Even for Eric.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteWow... conflicted.

ReplyDeleteI'll write about the episode tomorrow, but I liked what I saw, a very fresh warm-up to another jam-packed season. :)
episode 1 was really good but i loved episode 2, the entire episode 2 i couldnt move my eyes were so dam fixed i loved jason getting bitten by the panthers.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Bill as King? WTF. He is only a few hundred years old, it just seems so false and just for shock value
ReplyDeleteTrue but then again Sophie Anne was only 500 or so. It could be that Bill became King by besting and/or killing her.
ReplyDeleteu realize that not everyone has seen episode 2?
ReplyDeleteditto. I agree with everything
ReplyDeleteI also dont know how to feel about the HUGE changes from the book..
ReplyDeleteI guess as long as the main stories stay the same (the upcoming amnesia etc) I guess its ok..

*You < that's how its spelled and you realize being a smug B*#@h will get you nowhere. :)
ReplyDeleteis Sookie's grandfather introduced so early in the books?
ReplyDeleteI am hooked again... and that was the point of the premiere, I assume...
ReplyDeleteI Don't recall Earl Stackhouse at all honestly, but it's been about 5 years since I read the earlier books.
ReplyDeleteThey introduce Nail Brigant who is her great-grandfather in book 7 or 8 I think.

I did recognize her but couldn't place her (Luann)... Ha! Thanks, now it won;t drive me mad....

ReplyDeleteit was in like every trailer ever for season 4
ReplyDeleteIt was way too short!!
