I thought this show was good and certainly better than I thought it would. Mostly because Dr. Dani was a fun character and there was less focus on the therapy and bad celebrity behavior than I expected. It has the potential to go either way right now for me. I hope we get more Xeno and the Fixer and that Grandma Angela stays fun instead of annoying.
The show was better than i thought it would be very different from the other USA shows. I really like Dr, Dani ans the show seems like it has potential to be very good.
I'm kind of on the fence about it. I kind of look to USA for fun light toned dramedies, but Necessary Roughness is venturing much more into the drama side of things. There were some kind of boring parts (Dani and her husband fighting over the divorce, watching people yell at each other on TV is not really ever very exciting) but some good emotional parts too (when Dani finally got TK to talk about his emotions) but I'm just not sure how it's going to hold up against USA's other shows. I might watch again next week (simply because there's really nothing else on) but I'm not sure beyond that.
Agreed. I think for this to really work on USA they are going to have to keep the humor in it. Without the levity and some of the quote gems, it has the potential to slide into depressing and that is something USA strives to avoid.
I really enjoyed the show. I don't really care about USA having all light hearted shows, so I don't mind that this one falls a bit more on the drama side. There were enough jokes and funny moments to keep it balanced anyways, I thought. The characters are really strong, particularly Dr. Dani. And I didn't find any of it boring, I thought it moved along at a very good pace, and I enjoyed the subplot about Dr. Dani's divorce and her confrontations with her hounddog husband. Quite frankly it was fun to see her take the wind out of his sails. :P
Wasn't too sure what to expect, wasn't immediately drawn in like I was for Burn Notice and White Collar, but liked it and do see potential here. Liked the Dani and her best friend character, but not jazzed about Dani's dysfunctional family, but will keep watching it before I decide, but feel positive on it's direction.
I watched the episode tonight .. & then I watched it again three hours later (after watching some other Pilots) .. my first reaction was "meh" but my second watch was total opposite .. of all the Pilots I've seen so far, this pilot was the most fun to watch.. I'll definitely keep watching ^_^
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGood to know. I plan to watch it this weekend. I can certainly say the clips I've seen take on a somewhat different tone than the USA promos.
