Hmmmm, to be honest, after last week's epic finale I was kind of expecting a bit more action. Nevertheless a great episode, but I think I need to watch it again before I can give a final judgement.
Sansa got a bit bearable. Finally realizing that Joffrey isn't the great prince she thought he is. Arya didn't have a good time too, but at least she's on her way back to her family.
Why did we have to see Ros again in a rather needless scene again? This woman is only used to bring some nudity to the screen, but if we wouldn't have met her, I wouldn't care at all. Was also a bit weird seeing her with Grand Maester.
Talking about weird women, what is the deal with Shae? I suspect there's some importance to her character.
A new king rising in the north. I like Robb, he's been doing a great job ever since he started gathering troops. Can't wait to see his next move.
It was also very interesting seeing more of the youngest Stark kid, hope to be seeing more of him and Bran next season since both of them seem to have some kind of "3rd eye" if you know what I mean. It could also just be because the Stark kids have such a strong connection to their father that they had these dreams and visions, but at least in Bran's case I'm sure there's more behind it.
I hope next season the 2 story lines that always felt a bit disconnected to the main plot of this season will become more important. On the one hand white walkers at the wall and on the other hand Dany and her dragons.
The casting rumour of Gerard Butler as Stannis was wrong. I expected it anyway, because I just doubted that Butler would either commit to a TV show or just make a quick cameo as I don't know what role Stannis will play in future books.
Anyway, this episode was more of a setup for next season which should be extremely interesting.
Of all the ways to show us that wheezing, decrepit, and stoop-backed Maester Pycelle was spry and in shape... why Ros-ify him in sexposition? I hope the agent for Esmé Bianco (Ros) got her a back end deal with bonuses for every pink part flashed.
I think there was a minor issue with having so many separate plots coming to a head, some got short changed. For instance Robb and Catelyn had little face time... albeit one amazing scene! I'm not sure the other option would have been any better though.... having some threads wrap up last week and some this week.
I hope next year Daenerys' story will flow better if for no other reason it will be more linear. No being sold off, or adjusting to a new tribe and marriage, no dealing with the crazy-eyed brother etc...
Jon's Story is just so isolated by the nature of being so far away from every other plot... until some of the other plots interact with the Night's Watch, I think Jon's story will always feel a bit disjointed. At least it will have more meat to it the next season or two!
As i finale I thought it worked very well honestly. Some of the individual episodes felt more like incomplete parts, but this episode pulled everything together for me. A couple of episodes definitely weren't self-contained episodes in the traditional manner we are accustomed to, however, as a season it just rolled together so well. I hope next year is as consistently great as this season was, because I felt it was one of the best first seasons I have watched of any series.
I'm wondering if we will be seeing more of Robert's bastard since he is currently going north with Arya. I was hoping to see more of him after Ned visited him.
Hmmmm, I wanted to know, but now I'm not sure anymore. I guess I'll stay spoilerfree for the moment although I don't expect him to play a major role anyway.
For anyone that LOVED the dragons here's a good pic of Dany and one of her dragons. Some one else cleaned it up and tweaked the chroma and colors... I tweaked a tiny bit since I felt it was too saturated.
The only thing I really feel the need to comment on is DRAGONS! That was insanely awesome. And that is how to top killing off a main character in the penultimate episode. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Much of what I have to say has been said already, so I'll make a short comment. The music was excellent this episode! I mean, he's still only working with two musical themes (The Winterfell leitmotif and the Main Theme) and he has better expand upon it for it to keep my interest, but he played with them very well. I think he also added something that may become the Night's Watch Theme, although that might just be fun party time adventure music. Or maybe it was a Dragons themes. I noticed something new anyway. Will have to rewatch shortly.
Other than that, I loved Varys and Littlefinger's encounter (again). I really hope Varys is promoted to Series Regular next year :D. I also hope people hated Sansa a bit less.
I don't really know how much time you usually need to come up with a proper number of themes for a TV show, but I remembered that they changed the composer in February: http://www.spoilertv.com/2011/02/game-of-thrones-composer-switched.html So maybe the new guy didn't have enough time? Just a suspicion.
I thought it was such a wonderful episode and great season finale! I think what's so great about the series is that there is so much going on---so much that is changing, that it's hard to imagine an episode that is dull and not full of some plot twist...
I was so glad it ended with Daenery hatching dragons and showing her 'supernatural' strengths. It's bittersweet , because of course I hate having to wait till next spring for season two, but I am also ready for True Blood.
Alright, I have to ask. Every week, a couple of people come along and decide that the episode was Awful. At this point in the season, who keeps voting that way (i.e. who continues to watch if it is awful) and WHY do they think these things lol? There has never once been an explanation given.
There always are a few people that vote awful for shows they don't like even though they don't watch them. You can find that phenomenon with pretty much every show here I guess.
Dragons were awesome and all but i liked last episode better, still great season finale. I'm hoping for Arya and Jon to reunite at castle black next season, with maybe Arya finding Nymeria on the way so they can do some awesome huzzah hunting of White Walkers beyond the wall with Jon and Ghost ! (yeah that'll never happen i know q.q but girl can always dream). Oh and it was nice to see 'what's-his-name' Stark kid again with his pretty badass direwolf.
Awesome episode. The scene with Tywin and Tyrion and the ending scene with the dragons (which looked awesome) were my favourites. The scenes with Joffrey and Sansa made me realize that Joffrey really is a terrible prick. Ary(a) was great, the way she defended herself against the fat boy, and it was surprising to see Robert's bastard there. The part with the King of the North really wasn't surprising anymore, because of the damn promo. I actually liked Jaime this episode, he had some bad ass lines.
I'm very curious for next season. I'm reading the first book now and will probably read the second book before the second season starts (which seems like a lifetime away. Spring 2012, seriously? :( ).
About the direwolves, which one is Grey Wing and when was he mentioned? I guess he's the one that belongs to Robb? Jon has Ghost, Arya has Nymeria, Rickon has Shaggydog, which as I gathered from tonight is kind of disobedient? I can't remember what Sansa's wolf's name was. Oh right, Lady. So original. And what's Bran's wolf's name?
I loved: Arya's "I enjoy killing fat boys" and "I'm not a boy", Sansa's "Maybe he'll bring me your head" and Bran mentioning Hodor. (Hodor!) The dragon twist was awesome, unfortunately it was spoiled for me :( I teared up when Dany killed Drogo and during the Catelyn/Robb first scene. And I genuinely wanted to smack Jaime with that rock for talking that way to Cat.
I didn't love: Unnecessary Ros scene with whats-that-guys-name, the talk between Varys and.. I think it's Littlefinger. It looked so unnatural, not thought through and kinda boring. I also didn't realize the boy is King Robert's bastard. Though the words "armorer's apprentice" rang a bell. But just a quiet one. I had to read that here.
But awesome episode. I was surprised when it ended, I was like: "Whaaaat, already, there must be at least fifteen minutes left, noo!!" :D
Yep you're right on with the wolves and their names and Robb's is Grey Wind and Bran's is Summer. Grey wind has been mentioned a few times in the series, but not by name always. When Tywin was discussing battles one of the generals mentions that "His wolf has killed at least a dozen men". Shaggydog is not disobedient as much is he is untrained because Rickon is only 6(he's 3 in the books) was the one that trained him and we all know 6 year olds have a short attention span.
I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned Cersei sleeping with Lancel Lannister. I guess when Jaime isn't around grab a lesser Lannister as a temporary replacement....
Not true! When I rated The Cape as "Awful", I went into a lengthy explanation and rant... shocking I bet! In fact I was bombarded with people saying things along the lines of if you don't like it don't comment... OR maybe they thought I overreacted, but personally I thought it was the worst premiere I have ever seen and I saw Undercovers!
My personal case aside.... it infuriates me too! Every popular series seems to have its haters that simply click Awful either without watching or they actually keep watching every week despite thinking the series is awful week after week. Either reason is nonsensical to me!
Tonight's episode of Game of Thrones"Fire and Blood" (finale) is sponsored by Kleenex...
Wow emotional episode much? This is not a happy realm, but this was an incredibly awesome episode!
Arya stuck in a hard place. After telling people "I'm not a boy!" the entire season, now she has to pretend to be a boy... with a terrible hair cut no less! Life has not been kind to the Stark girls.
Sansa finally realizing she's little more than a captive to be used as a bargaining chip or in other ways if she's less lucky....
Nikolaj is just amazing as Jaime! ~ "There are no men like me.... Only me." ~ "I hoped the fall would kill him"
I love the look on Tyrion's face as his dad pours him some wine! Absolute confusion at the civility.... Decades of wanting Tywin's affection and now he has it. Be careful what you wish for Tyrion!
Daenerys' son dead and deformed like a dragon-human hybrid.... Drogo is now more or less a zombie.... and then at the end dragonspawn! Yes, she was nursing a dragon. I'm just guessing but that's gonna leave a mark.
This episode was absolutely chalk full of Direwolf comparatively speaking. Shaggydog makes an appearance, Grey Wing is mentioned, Ghost runs after Jon.
I so appreciate the irony of the 2 most "Kingly" men in the realm are a "lowborn" bastard and a maligned dwarf. Jon inspires some serious loyalty from his brothers...
Okay, I will admit I am impressed by the CGI dragons. I had serious worries, but I am relieved... They were awesome too! I still hope they use them somewhat sparingly next year They were good, but I think the less CGI the better when it comes to live motion animals.
No Wooden Stick, Castle Forged Steel ot Valyrian Steel tonight, the episode did not miss a step! Well, okay it missed one. The return of Roz the prostitute and sexposition.... and with Maester Pycelle! The big old faker... tired, and stooped my ass.... or Ros' ass as the case may be.
Here's a great EW article with D&D (David Benioff and DB Weiss - The producers) about the finale, choices they had to make in Season One and some no-spoilery insight into Season Two. Most notably, Alan Taylor to direct 4 episodes next season!

Awesome episode. The dragons looked good, let´s hope they keep it up for season 2.
I loved the scene with Jaime and Cat. I never read the first book, but just finished the second. There is a very similar conversation between the two of them in the end of book 2. Does anyone know if the also talk about Brads fall in book 1?
Arya´s story is wonderful and I love Jon Snows story line aswell. It´s very different from the others, plus Ghost is more present than the other Direwolfs.
Who runs the polls? We should have a poll to see who peoples favorite caracter is...... (though it is difficult to choose just one)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

my thoughts exactly
