White Collar - A Diana-emphasized episode, a Mozzy flashback episode, and a El-Mozzie-centered episode. Give me some Jones love and I will be set. So far, this is looking like the best season yet.
*nods* I couldn't agree more! So freakin' excited for the El/Mozzie episode! And I'm with ya on Jones.... Someone please explain to me again why Sharif isn't listed as a regular?
Sera totally needs to give the meta a rest! I can enjoy those episodes as much as any devoted SPN fan but her obsession with them doesn't make me feel good about them keeping up their quality. As everything when it's overdone/overused/etc it will lose it's charm and spark. Plus I don't trust her enough to insure their quality.
Actually, The French Mistake under Sera was the first time I enjoyed a meta for meta's sake episode. TMatEotB and The Real Ghostbusters (under Kripke) are some of my very least favorite episodes of all.
Sera says: "I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point in Season 7 or beyond, someone pitches something that enables us to do a fun episode like that again.” I love the sound of 'S7 and beyond'.... I have to admit I was a bit worried about The French Mistake when I heard about it - but they sure did pull it off - with bells on!!! And Sera is obviously not actively seeking a meta episode - if a great opportunity comes along she'll take it. She's proved she can pick a great one - ie TFM whereas Kripke as showrunner stuck us with The Real Ghostbusters for pete's sake!!! I trust Sera wholeheartedly.
See me, I loved TRG and I haven't been too enamored with her showrunning skills so far. Having said that I did find TFM to be one of the better episodes this season.
My general argument here is they've done way too many meta episodes in general. I get that she didn't say they'll be activelly gunning for another one, but still. They should take a break period, because even as a fan I'm fidning the "knocking on the fourth wall" bit overplayed at this point.
I guess this is where we differ, because me I've really liked all meta episodes, no exceptions. As I said bellow, my argument here is that even as a fan I'm fidning the "knocking on the fourth wall" bit overplayed at this point.
Yeah I get what you're saying - I can't say I'm a fan of meta either, and I sure as hell don't want to see meta for meta's sake. Still putting my money on Sera giving us an awesome S7 and beyond tho. The 2nd half of S6 everything seemed to 'gel' for me - maybe she and others were just 'finding their feet' with the new showrunner/new writers/reboot thing. And to quote Dahne" "the worst episode/s of Supernatural are better than the very best of any other show." I'm so excited for S7 - can't wait!
I wonder if you realize that The French Mistake was Kripke's idea? He's the one who pitched it and Ben Edlund wrote the script for it. The metas aren't just Sera's fault.

You get to be nitpicky ;D

Lol. I totally agree. Sometimes I find myself nitpicking something in a Supernatural recap and think how small a detail that is in the general scheme of things. Then when I'm talking about some other shows (none that I recap mind you), I have to search the little details so I have something to praise them for. Thank goodness for Supernatural!
Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm on the #TrustSera team. I enjoyed season 6 and can't wait to see what they do in season 7. Turning Cas evil ROCKS!
I feel so important, being quoted. :-P Let's make that "the worst episode/s of Supernatural are better than the very best of almost every other show." Bugs, The Third Man, and Route 666 try this theory but there is always something good about a Supernatural episode - funny line, an action sequence, etc. Well, except Bugs, I just can't like this episode. The freaking spider on the realtor's head. UGH!!!!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteThank goodness Catherine Tate will not be the new manager on The Office!

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for good news. At least they let him leave the van/office in the season premiere. I would love to get to know his character better.

Thanks for the scoop on Supernatural and Dexter!

ReplyDeleteLOL - so I mis-quoted slightly. My apologies ;)
ReplyDeleteSharif is free to try out for other roles in different tv shows if he is not listed as a regular on White Collar.
