House creator David Shore has revealed that the upcoming eighth season will introduce "new players".
He told TV Line that a new female character will likely be introduced to fill the void left by the departing Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy).
"It's safe to say there'll be new players next season," he said. "We would want to have a female presence, absolutely."
Shore refused to be drawn on who will directly replace Cuddy as House's boss, but did admit that promoting Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) is a possibility.
"[The new season is] wide open," he claimed. "Everything's on the table."
The showrunner previously admitted that he is "really disappointed" by Edelstein's departure from the show.
"I am still reeling from it," he confessed. "But we just started meeting a few days ago... to map out the first half of the next season, and we are having some very frank discussions about what we are going to do."

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of promoting Wilson would be a shot in the arm for the House/Wilson relationship but it has its drawbacks. If they promote Wilson, we'll probably get stuck with a new team member which isn't ideal. If they don't promote him, the show will cast a new character as the boss and there's no telling how that will work out.

frank discussions...no cuddy...new characters.....the whole thing sounds very uncool.

ReplyDeleteI posted an answer there, but I think the first thing to think about is : "How can Greg come back to the hospital ?" And I don't think he can be back in the first episode or the writers decide to jump in time to four or five years after the last episode.
I still can't comprehend why David Shore is " reeling" from LE's decision. Even if the hospital board chose House over Cuddy as the more valuable hospital asset there is no way they could work together or have Cuddy continue to supervise. There interaction would be minimal at best. My suspicion is that even TPTB, namely David Shore was planning a Huddy reunion. If this was not the case then her decision makes everything fall into place quite nicely. See, it REALLY wasn't over.

ReplyDeleteBring back Lisa Edelstein and give the show the final year it deserves!!!!!! Even if it means a HUDDY REUNION!!!!! It was all a dream in House's mind and he will get back together with Cuddy. There is no Show without HOUSE AND CUDDY!!!!

ReplyDeleteI discovered yesterday (july 16 th) the news about Lisa joining "The good wife" for a multiple episodes arc. Why this news wasn't on the HOUSE page ? Good news for her. How long will last her contract ? What if Greg wants her back (like me) ? Will she appear once or twice in season 8 ? I think she deserves a better departure. Hope isn't over.
