Natalie Dormer, who memorably played the seductive and doomed Anne Boylen on Showtime’s The Tudors, has been added to the fantasy drama’s regular cast.
Dormer will play Margaery Tyrell, a (minor spoiler) beautiful and shrewd young women who the influential House Tyrell pledges to marry the late King Robert’s brother Renly Baratheon in support for his bid to seize the Iron Throne from King Joffrey.

She looks perfect! Can't wait to hear more casting news. WHO'S BRIENNE????
ReplyDeleteAwesome news! She was great in The Tudors and Silk.
ReplyDeleteImportant role and hard to put out a casting call for.
ReplyDeleteWanted: 20ish Horse-faced, freckled, buck-toothed, straw-haired amazon with striking blue eyes who is bigger than most men and handy with a sword.
Who admits that fits them physically? Ha!
In that case, the casting call should say they're looking for a female actress in their twenties that's a cross between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristen Johnson.
ReplyDeleteI picture Ron Perlman 30 years ago in drag.....
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance for the nightmares I'm going to have. :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly though, the casting call should only require a very tall, sturdy, plain-looking young woman. The teeth, hair color, freckles etc. can be taken care of by wigs, dyes, prosthetics, makeup and the like.
Someone should look up the profiles of women's NCAA basketball players. If they've listed acting as (at least) a minor, give 'em an audition.
No you're exactly right. They need the height and strength foremost.... everything else can be handled with make-up and dye etc.
ReplyDeleteOh I really love her! I think she'll be great :)
ReplyDeleteEva Damen could work for sure: http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/ajmc2121/eva.jpg
ReplyDeleteOMG - Love her - she was brilliant in The Tudors.
ReplyDeleteToo bad Bridgit Nielsen is like 80 - she could totally do Brienne.
Any idea how tall she is? That's the hard part really. Some can be done with lifts and setting tricks, but Brienne is taller than Jaime and NCW is 6-2+,
ReplyDeleteObviously height is relative... Robert was supposed to be 6-4ish and Marc Addy is nowhere near that.
According to GRRM:
"Brienne is well over six feet tall, but not close to seven, no. Just off the top of my head, I would say Brienne is taller than Renly and Jaime and significantly heavier than either, but nowhere near the size of Gregor Clegane, who is the true giant in the series. Shorter than Hodor and the Greatjon, maybe a bit shorter than the Hound, maybe roughly the same height as Robert"
