TNT's alien invasion series Falling Skies, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, hit big in the ratings.
For the two-hour series premiere last night, 5.91 million viewers tuned in to the Noah Wyle-led drama, according to Nielsen. The launch marks cable's top new series for the year to date. The TNT drama also ranks as cable's biggest scripted debut since last year's TNT drama Rizzoli & Isles, which drew 7.6 million to its premiere in mid-July 2010.
Comparably, Falling Skies outdrew the series debuts of USA's Covert Affairs (4.9 million) and AMC's The Walking Dead (5.3 million).
In the adult demos, the ambitious sci-fi drama did well: in the 18-49 demographic, 2.64 million tuned in and 3.24 million in the adults 25-54.

i don't know about this show, the pilot didn't really grabbed me by the balls like GoT did for example but i'll give it a shot next week again, 2nd part of the pilot was slightly better i'd say, maybe because it wasn't so alien heavy like first part (which totally surprised the hell out of me that i didn't like the alien part btw) Also that pope/rockstar dude was pretty good and Noah Wylde seems like great lead for the show.
ReplyDeleteyay!!! i loved it ;)
ReplyDeletehow is 5.91 million a big ratings hit?
ReplyDeletein uk with those ratings you get cancelled.
It's really good for a cable channel... and I think around 6 million is pretty good in the UK, is it not? I know the soaps etc get like 8 million-ish but dont most dramas get around the 5-6 million mark comfortably? :S
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it's gonna be renewed within the next two weeks.
ReplyDeleteExcellent news! I really enjoyed the show.
ReplyDeleteWhy they ad The Walking Dead to this thing is kinda surreal. Because TNT is Basic cable, while AMC(and HBO) for that matter is pay/premium cable.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it had a big opening, but I hope TNT doesn't expect those numbers next week
ReplyDeleteThe true test will be next weekend to see how many people come back.
