I hear there are talks with Syfy to pick up The Event as a miniseries. Helping things is the fact that Syfy and The Event producer, Universal Media Studios, are NBCUniversal corporate siblings. But migrating a broadcast show to cable is never easy, and I hear discussions are underway to see if it would be financially feasible for The Event to continue on Syfy. If that happens and if the mini does well, it could potentially launch another season of the alien drama.

Good. I wanna know what happens next.
ReplyDeletemeh... we'll see...
ReplyDeleteOhpleaseohpleaseohplease! I love The Event!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! I hope this works out. I am so angry it got canceled
ReplyDeleteShut the front door ! This is good news !
ReplyDeleteI may hate SyFy for cancelling Caprica (a show full of potential), for having the most non-ambitious science-fiction series you can find nowadays and for multiplying awful made-for-tv movies, but a miniseries on that NBC-affiliated channel seems more likely to happen than the Netflix pickup rumor.
The ending of episode 1.22 wasn't entirely frustrating but there was clearly some potential left to explore. Oddly enough I didn't think there was enough potential for a full 22 episode season though (the alien planet is close to Earth... yeah, so? What can mankind do to send them back? Pretty much nothing... so I don't see what is left to tell).
I still have yet to watch the second half of the season. The first ten or so episodes before the xmas hiatus were bollocks, lets face it. But I'm being told it gets a lot better, so I want to give it a go EVENTually.
ReplyDeleteYes The Event is so great
ReplyDeleteGo Syfy ! I'm really curious about this show's future :)
ReplyDeleteThis would help makeup for a lot of the 'choices' (cancellations) syfy has made this past year. At least give it a miniseries to wrap the story up. That would be fair. Come on Syfy, pretty please!!!!
ReplyDeleteNBC and Syfy should just let this one go.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY like the event! I'm so glad its coming back, I wanna know what happens. Considering it was a great season finale but a terrible series finale.
ReplyDeleteSyfy tweeted that as of now they had no plans to pick it up. http://twitter.com/#!/syfy
ReplyDeleteHow about Syfy pics up HEROES!! I vented and ranted about how bad I hated where the stories were going, etc., but I miss it :(
ReplyDeleteThat's super good news!
ReplyDeleteThe Event was too good a show to lose!
I watched The Event the whole way through, and if I'm being totally honest I would prefer Syfy to pick up something else (what I'm saying is in the eventuality that Fringe or Awake, and possible even Touch get cancelled next series, I would rather these were picked up as to me, even after seeing one season of The Event and not an episode of Touch or Awake, they seem more appealing and interesting).
ReplyDeleteGod I really hope SyFy picks up the Event I really need to know what happens next
ReplyDeleteWith you there. The finale seems rather final to me, so I don't see the point of continuing on. But, we'll see...
ReplyDeletestorywise? its far from over... the finale just opened up another story, a whole other planet just showed up in our solar system... surely, that has be addressed...
ReplyDeleteplus, the budgeting is also a thing to take into consideration... and the availability of the actors...
God, I sure hope so. I really enjoyed the show despite it's flaws.
ReplyDeleteYES PLEASE!!!!!!!! BEST STORY EVER
ReplyDeleteYes, please. This show got pretty amazing along the way.
ReplyDeleteIt really got a LOT better.
