Shaw Media (Canada's Showcase) upfronts next week - new shows to include Bomb Girls

Shaw Media which owns Canadian network Global and cable channel Showcase amongst others will hold its upfront presentation next week on Tuesday May 31st, the fate of shows such as Endgame, King and XIII : The Series could be revealed. New shows will include Bomb Girls by Michael MacLennan (Queer As Folk, Being Erica) about World War II women at work in a munitions (bomb) factory.
Shaw Media is also co-producing NBC's The Firm.

    Even Canada is getting in on the period drama action.  Last year's fad was comic-inspired shows and this year seems to be period dramas.  Everyone wants their own Mad Men.  Someone should tell these executives that even though Mad Men gets lots of press and critical acclaim, it's a perennially ratings challenged show with limited appeal.
