Ratings News - The Complete Broadcast Show Ratings for 2010/2011

Thanks to EW for compiling.

From Fox’s American Idol to The CW’s Shedding for the Wedding, here’s how all the broadcast shows of the 2010-11 season performed in the all-important adults 18-49 demo (and this includes the first seven days of DVR viewing after a show’s premiere). Climbers on the chart include ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and Modern Family, while some of the notable declines include CBS’ Undercover Boss, Fox’s House and ABC’s Desperate Housewives. NBC’s The Voice is the highest-rated new show followed by CBS’ Mike & Molly. CBS’ $#*! My Dad Says ranks as the highest-rated cancelled show, while ABC’s Shark Tank is the lowest-rated renewed entertainment show among the Big 4 networks.

Notes
(Average ratings from Sept. 20 to May 22. These are ratings for shows in their regular time periods. Special time-period airings like Glee‘s post Super Bowl slot and CBS’ Hawaii Five-0‘s special post-Sunday football episode are not included by Nielsen in these averages).

  1. Great work. Thanks.

Always interesting (and sadly annoying) to see how shows I like rank among every show on TV.

  2. Anyone wanna give me a very brief crash course in what this means? I see the numbers, but they make no sense to me (other than I assume bigger is better).

Thank you for compiling the list!

It's sad to see Reality/Dance/Singing shows getting the highest ratings.

  5. I as well really hate what reality shows are doing to entertainment.  They are cheap to make and are really hurting the industry.  Almost all are just not any good to watch, soon that will be all that is available

  6. The rating is a measure of how many people from age 18-49 are watching the show. So, say Fringe has a 2.3: every 1.0 = like 1.3 million viewers in the 18-49 age range (as far as I remember, it might be slightly different). The more people in the 18-49 range, the more advertisers pay to have their commercials during that show (roughly).

  8. Nice to see HIMYM,House and Glee doing well.Is funny to observe that most of the least rated shows are The CW's,cuz most of people who watch it is under 18.

  9. Oh give it a rest ! After 7 Seasons [H]ouse is still in the Top Twenty and is the 3rd highest rated Drama. I refuse to weigh it against Football and mindless 'reality' shows.
Ya done good [H]ouse ! Now ...just bring Lisa Edelstein back & I'll love you forever.

  10. Today's reality shows are like the game shows of the past. People have always watched them since the invention of TV.

  11. Great information. The upside of this is that it shows us that ratings might not always influence decisions, S**t has bigger ratings than other established shows and still was cancelled (i didn't watch the show so i can comment on its quality) and shows like Breaking In with bigger ratings as a mid-season show than NBC 30 Rock or Raising Hope (renew) also from FOX and still no word of its future (probably won't return). Finally I agree, is sad that the names at the top of the list are no scripted shows.
