  1. I've seen every episode so far and I'm not any closer to figuring out who the killer is than I was at the very beginning.

  2. Me neither. I had a feeling it was Rick from the first episode, don't
know why but just one of those gut feelings.

  3.  Wouldn't that be something.  I like that option.  My best guess has been Belko but that's only because I want it to be Belko.  I don't really have a good reason for thinking it's him except that he creeps me out.

  4. Yep, he's my 2nd favourite to be the killer.

Growing up watching these sorts of things and having a wife who is a
huge Agatha Christie fan, it's always one of the first people you see
and the one you least suspect :)

  5.  SPOILER!

All those voting for Belko have obviously watched/read about the original series but don't know that the US version writers decided to change the ending/killer. So far, I have no idea who it's gonna be...doubt it's the teacher, wish it was Rick. However there are only a handful of episodes yet, don't know how they'd be able to pull that off tbh.

  6. Yep, I heard that the TV is a bit different from the Book in terms of ending.

Nana, I assume you've read the book. Are there many differences?

  7.  I think in a surprise: Stephen Holder, the Linden's Partner. He is suspectful to me.

  8.  Rick was my first gut feeling too. My reasons were that he left town at a convenient time, if Linden moves out where he is then they need an entirely new Season Two cast to support her in Sanoma, and Callum Keith Rennie plays a great bad guy.

Since then one of my initial thoughts/reasons has been rendered moot. The  distance, literally and metaphorically, has caused a large enough rift in the relationship where either could end it without Rick being a suspect or killer.

  9. Yep, good points.

Did you see the Dutch version of the show? Interested to see how it
differs. I think once this has ended for the season I might watch that
version as well to compare. I've heard good things about that version
    as wel

  10. Holder is just CREEPY! Joel Kinnaman does slightly "off" very, very well! I don't recall having seen him in anything prior to The Killing, but he has gained my respect with his performance!

  11.  I have not. I did look at someone's blog that has been breaking down the two versions week by week, pointing out similarities and differences without using spoilers.

I may check it out too, in a few months or a year. I have a hard time watching very similar material back to back.

I did that with Touching Evil (UK and US versions) and th one I watched second was not nearly as enjoyable despite being just as well done, or better.

  12. Ah cool, thanks. Do you have a link to that blog, I'd like to have a
    quick skim through.

  14. No prob. It's interesting reading. Nice scene breakdowns and she (I think) is a good writer to boot.

  15. Yep, just going through it now. Will have a proper read over my
    morning coffee :)

  16. I actually watched the original Swedish TV show and yeah, whilst the gist of the story is the same there are some differences. When AMC picked up the show I read they chose to change the ending since the Swedish show was a hit in Europe (and especially in the UK) so they wanted to avoid the possibility of ruining the end for US fans who might stumble upon spoilers about who the killer is online.
So far I'm liking the US version better. Since this one has less episodes (the original was 20 if I remember correctly) the story seems to be slightly more fast paced (believe it or not ;D) and there are some differences in the politics storyline, which is unsurprising really, US and Sweden not really alike in that sense.
If you want more in depth info there are plenty of articles online about the original show from it's many many UK fans.
    Cheers!

  17. nanaluvren Thanks so much for your comments/thoughts, nice one.
Be interesting to see how it plays out and what they might do for a 2nd season

  18.  Probably you haven't seen him much of him cause, being Swedish, he's worked over here in Europe more than he has in the US. He is in fact good friends with Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood! Oh, and he is half American, hence the accent I suppose ;P

  19.  For me is Darren Richmmond

Agree. And Bennet and Jamie knows.

  21. I am too. It's interesting to see the comparisons, especially the political differences.

  22. It seems we are clearly being led to understand Bennet was not the murderer, although he is involved in something else. I wonder to what degree the worry about terrorism is unique to the U.S., and if the FBI investigation will turn out to be overkill.
@darkUFO if this is like Agatha Christie, then we've already seen the killer(s) and he/she/they will not be showing up for the first time in future episodes.
(It is possible I do not quite understand the new message system yet).
I hadn't really thought seriously about Rick, but then he was apparently around at the time Sarah became obsessed with some previous case. Will she link the two murders and then come to that realization? It's a longshot.
The persons the neighbor ID'd as carrying something like a body were Bennet and a woman. Bennet and Rosie, maybe?
Check Rosie's room on the AMC website. Some clues there.

  23. Kinnaman is just awesome as Holder and an Emmy nomination wouldn't surprise me.

  24. My first guess was Jamie and I'm still sticking with him, because I have no other ideas. The whole thing is somehow deeply connected to the Richmond campaign. So far the two connections are Amed and the car, but there's got to be more. Otherwise what's the point of showing us details of his campaign? So I'm pretty sure it is someone linked to the campaign. It certainly isn't the teacher, his wife or Mohammed, even though they all have skeletons in the closet. My only other guess would be Gwen, but apart from that I have simply no idea.
To be honest, I haven't wasted much thought on the topic of the killer. I'm just enjoying the ride.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have not a clue, i'm still in limbo with the thought of there's someone behind the killing and theres someone else who actually killed Rosie, if that makes sense.  I'm definitely looking forward to finding out whodunnit!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jamie? Hadn't thought of that. But the link to the car is important. Those who had reasonable access to the car are anyone connected to the campaign, anyone in the auto shop, or the teacher, who worked with Richmond on the All Stars project, but not the high-school friends or friend's dad.

    I'm enjoying the ride, too.

  27. She is actually a he, but thanks for the nod to my site.  :)

  28. Thanks Aaron, I read your site this morning, really great reading.
    Thanks for creating it.

  29. What about the Mayor? There are some serious reasons to suspect him.
Richmond's storyline is connected to the rest of the plot only by the car. Adding Bennet to Seatle All-stars program seems to be completely unnecessary extension of the series. So, why do we have to watch this for like 15 minutes each episode?
Because Richmond is the guy who will find out who the killer is. Look, his objections to the mayor's job is that he doesn't fight with some gangs. What if he cooperates with them?
I suppose that the Mayor is linked to Muhammed, Bennet (yeah, he's the mole) and the rest of terrorists in some way. Rosie found it out, so she had to die, to prevent any leaks to the press.
But then the Mayor made up his mind to 'incidentally' drag down his prime enemy, so he asked Bennet to put Rosie's body in a trunk of Richmond's car and hide it in such way, so that police could find it.
And here it is. The Mayor wins the election and his guilt is never found.
Until Richmond "breaks bad" and start to look into his past...

  30. It was always clear that sooner or later an additional connection from Richmond to the case would appear and we finally got it this week. Alhtough I don't think he's actually the killer (he knows what it's like to loose someone you love) it hardens my suspicion that it was Jamie or Gwen. The only other somewhat plausible suspect to me would be aunt Terry, but that would seriously surprise me a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ha! I found your site few weeks ago while looking for comparisons and now you are here. Great job on the comparisons... I read them every week or two.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Mmm, Gwen is kind of small, and the killer had to be strong unless it was more than one person. I have a crazy notion that it was Jack, based on the promo from next week's episode.

    Terry or Richmond.
