  1. This sounds like it may be more than the typical comic book superhero series.... so I am interested. I still have my doubts but I am all for making superhero series about the person behind the mask (ok, um behind the bustiere?).. not the superhero only. I think that is one big reason of the many, many reasons The Cape failed on so many levels.

Still not sure it will be a weekly watch, but at least it is more than some comic book on TV. DEK brings humanity and pathos into his characters so well that he may be able to pull this off, but the camp aspect ... well , I dunno....

  2. It's Wonder Woman so I have to at least give it a shot. I'm still not expecting much though. Additionally, I still have to keep reminding myself that these much talked about pilots are still just pilots and there's no guarantee that they'll even get a series order. That being said, I did choose this show to get picked up by NBC in the Pilot pick-up competition.

  3. It is hard to remember these are not even picked up yet at times. Pilots! Pilots! Pilots!

Like I mentioned when I saw the Teen Wolf promo this week, We need a "first to be cancelled" contest! Ha! That would be fun, but difficult too.
Last year I think I could tell what was good or bad right away for the most part. Even if I did not like them I could tell they were good... well with a few exceptions. I thought Terriers and Rubicon were two of last year's better new series and both got cancelled. I stand by that thought still, but I would have lost in a poll if I had placed bets on them to stick around. I also thought the first episode of Lone Star was good and Raising Hope was terrible. The networks disagreed with me strongly....

  4. A "first to be canceled" contest would be doable but only if it focused on the broadcast networks and not cable. Actually, the contest would probably work best if it were "first 3 to be canceled" and in the correct order.

Last fall I had NBC's Outlaw as first to be canceled but it was beat by a couple of weeks by Lone Star, which I guessed would be #2 to get the axe.

As a side note, I was pleasantly surprised by Raising Hope and still follow it.

  5. After thinking about it, it would be hard to do a first to be cancelled... or even first 3. Would you go by date a series was cancelled or number of episodes aired? Maybe just a keep it cancel it contest for every pilot?

Undercovers was my first to go last year. Outlaw was up there though... don't recall exactly where...

  6. You could use and over/under system like they do for sports betting. That would take care of it.

  7. Going by that review it sounds like this vision of Wonder Woman could be in the Smallville-verse, meaning if Smallville wasn't ending and the networks allowed it there could be cross-overs.

  8. If that's true, it's still possible that Smallville characters could show up on Wonder Woman IF the show is picked-up to series.

  9. Honestly, I don't feel any better about the script than I did before. David E. Kelley really doesn't need his characters grandstanding: that's what Aaron Sorkin is for. He also shouldn't try to guess at what a bunch of 20-somethings are thinking. You know or you don't; he shouldn't try to fake that. It sounds like he's trying to stick too much in the pilot, which wouldn't be a first for him. Just let the story work itself though, don't OD on the camp like Travis said, and get more into Diana's/WW's mind more than anything else.

I think this show could have potential that many others didnt. Dont forget guys NO ONE thought smallville would go longer then 4 seasons and now its in its 10th season which most shows never even get close to it these days. I believe the way their making this with wonder woman as long as they do what smallville did: stick to humanity and not gods. Then Wonder Woman may be the next hit show on the network. What i mean by that is that unlike Lois and Clark, and many other superman shows, Smallville shows supermans humanity lets people connect to him and the others around him which made it such a great show. But it also kept hold of the comic portions it needs (although especially in seasons 8-10). The kent dynamic was the basis and heart of the show and wonder woman needs to find a common ground. Thats y im giving wonder woman a chance and i wont give up on it until seasons end. If a comic book alien from another planet can show us his humanity, then a amazonian princess/superhero comic book character should be no problem.

  11. How about "first 3 to be cancelled" (ex: Outlaw was clearly a goner) and "cancelled that shouldn't be" (ex: Terriers, Lone Star..) - not necessarily as a contest but as an ongoing question running until November Sweeps?
