Hey Guys,
We've been thinking about potentially setting up a SpoilerTV Podcast for a little while, and one of the problems in going forward is we are trying to work out what would be best in terms of content for the podcast. SpoilerTV covers so much, and the podcast could also cover a wide variety of things, so I have jotted below a few of the main ideas we had, but then would also like you to comment below with every idea, however crazy it is, that could be cool or you would like to see in a SpoilerTV podcast...
Current Ideas:
Teasers & Spoilers - This could be a simple talking about various shows, using our own spoilers and teasers and talk about the shows related to them.
Upcoming Shows & Pilots - This would be talking about the shows that are coming up over the next year, casting news, what the shows could be about an where they could go.
SpoilerTV Updates - What’s happening on the website, what competitions there are, what new features. Included in this there could be specific podcast competitions.
Games & Competitions - Similar in terms of competitions, but we could have fans of a show on and do a gameshow type thing where we find out who is the ultimate ‘Specific Show’ fan or something like this.
Specific Show Theories - Have one off podcasts with SpoilerTV staff and a couple of fans from a specific show and then get people to send in theories and questions which we answer...
TV in general - About the industry, ratings, cancellations, etc. etc
Movies Section - Talk about upcoming movies and other exciting things from a movie slant.
Let me know what you think,

ReplyDeleteSeems like the most interesting one.
Thanks for the input Bob, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWhich shows do you have in mind. I'm guessing the more "mystery" based shows would do better here such as Fringe, The Killing, The Event etc.
Teasers and spoilers most definitely as it is SpoilerTV. However, I think the more show-specific you can get the better response you would have. I wouldn't want to listen to House or Gossip Girl updates, but if you have a podcast on Supernatural, Burn Notice, White Collar, Raising Hope, Community, or Bones, I am so there.
ReplyDeleteIf you do a podcast I would do one for TV and another for movies. Or only have the movie section in every other podcast or something. I just think most people who visit this site are more interested in the TV stuff, and the movie stuff would take up time that could be devoted to that.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that could be fun is pick a popular show (Bones, Supernatural, House, etc.) and devote one show to a kind of round table discussion (with SpoilerTV staff and maybe a couple of fans) about the show, maybe discuss the current teasers/spoilers, general direction of the show, etc. This could be done on a weekly basis, a different show every week. That'd be pretty cool. Maybe there could even be a way for fans to call in to the podcast.
But I would also mix in some of the other stuff like discussing new shows, cancellations, etc. I mean if you did an hour long podcast, you could spend 15 minutes recapping general TV and site news like that, and then the rest of the time on the show of the week. Or you could do one or two podcasts a month that are devoted to specific shows and then two a month that are more general TV/movie stuff. This is assuming you'd do the podcast weekly I guess.
Put it this way, I don't think it would work with Modern Family or Desperate Housewives, but for shows like Fringe, The Killing, True Blood, this would be totally awesome.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Extra onions with some tomato and can I get a side of fries?

Honestly, the idea sounds great, I'm just no good with podcasts so I have no actual way of helping you acquire useful feedback (hence the abuse of the post's title)...
The teasers & spoilers section is a must, the site is called spoilertv after all. ;D The most interesting spoilers of the week, but please no shipper stuff. The upcoming pilots category sounds interesting but since they're won't be news about pilots all year around, it could be exchanged with other content. The same is true for news about the website, only mention the important stuff unless you do a specific podcast competition. The Ulitmate Specific Show fan competition is only interesting to listen to if you're a fan of the show as well, otherwise it can be pretty boring. Maybe you could it once a month or so. I love the Specific Show Theories. It doesn't even matter if you watch the show if the theory and the discusssion is intrigueing enough. The TV in general category is only interesting, if something out of the ordinary happened.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing which I don't like is the Movie section. I think you should keep TV and movie spoilers separated.
No matter what you do contentwise, it's really important that you have good hosts with different opinions.
Mystery, fantasy and sci-fi shows. Basically every good show that allows theories about the plot. Maybe not 'The Event'. Lol
ReplyDeleteThe round table discussions sound interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome/I'd love to help :). My favourite of the above concepts is the one about a discussion of theories; however, it could probably be devoted to more than one of the ideas you put forward. A quick teasers section could lead into general television discussions (weekly ratings, trends, etc) followed by the theories/show discussion section. The shows discussed could be based on the most browsed on SpoilerTV each week.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, you could mix a few of the sections together. For example, spoilers about TV and movies go together just fine. An even better example would be to combine the spoilers/teasers with the theories/discussion part. That would make the podcast more unique and suited to SpoilerTV. Instead of just discussing/recapping/speculating, you could incorporate what we know spoilerwise and go from there.
Then again, there would probably have to be a cap on spoilers. I mean, BTS photos and general events (i.e. someone will die) are one thing... But just coming out and saying "Since we know so and so will die or such and such is the season finale twist" might not be popular. I don't really have a handle on how many people here want spoilers vs. how many don't. This being SpoilerTV, I assume it's more on the Spoiler side, but when I did that GoT article asking about spoilers, very few people voted for that. That could just be GoT fans though lol.
Asking whether the new banner has arrived yet is like asking Buzz Lightyear if he's appearing in the latest Tarantino movie... :P
ReplyDeleteDude. Send me an email if you're interested to help: adamdharris@spoilertv.com
ReplyDeleteThat way when we get it whirring properly we can get you involved and I have your email :)
I agree. I think theories would be pretty popular, but most importantly, the most interesting. And it could work with almost any show. We're all always spinning theories anyways, this way we can be sure to stay informed and all ON SpoilerTV.
