Uh, oh. Should Clois fans be preparing for heartbreak? Well, if you take what executive producer Brian Peterson told EW last week at face value, perhaps they should. “We’re not really promising a wedding at this point,” he teased. “But definitely they are preparing for a wedding, right up until the finale.”
As you recover from your moment of panic, I offer you a glimmer of hope: Peterson has been teasing Smallville finales for ten years, people! You know there’s much more to this story — but, of course, he’s not going to say what that is. He did say, however, that when it comes down to the final hours for Clark, he’s confident that fans both dedicated and otherwise will find themselves satisfied with the story they’ve been told.
“What we really tried to do is create a finale that pretty much stands on its own for anybody who has ever watched any episode of Smallville, to tune in and watch the finale. And for the hardcore fans that have seen every episode, there are a lot of little nuggets and little payoffs all along the way,” he said. “That’s been our goal for the finale.”
Bonus finale tease: The barn gets a final bow. “I won’t say who’s in the scene, but there is one final scene that we shot in the barn, and we literally wrapped that set afterward. It’s still standing, but it was the last time anyone ever shot anything in the barn for Smallville, which — just that moment, given everything we’ve all put into this show, was a really emotional moment for me and for I think everybody in the scene,” he said.
Time to theorize, Smallville fans. What, if anything, would prevent Clois from saying ‘I do’? Will the pair get their wedding at all? Or will Lois and Clark be sealing the deal with a Post-It (shudder)?

The wedding isn't necessary. Clark becoming Superman, flying, and wearing the suit IS required. That's the reason the show has lasted ten years. Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is the secret to Smallville's success. I don't care if Lois even appears in the finale, frankly.
ReplyDeleteLois and Clark. Going to happen. This is a non issue. They arent going to break canon again so majorly.
ReplyDeleteSo true.If it wore up to me she wouldn't even be in the final season or even better the entire show.
ReplyDeleteI'm not worried. Lois and Clark forever, baby! Besides, Mgbhighlander is right about not needing a wedding. That could always happen later on and what is necessary is Clark becoming Superman, flying, wearing the suit like he said!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I so want to see a Lois and Clark wedding. I will be very disappointed if it doesn't happen.
ReplyDeleteI would be disappointed too if they didn't have a wedding =/
ReplyDeleteI mean with all the planning that we've seen, it would make sense. Well I'm still hoping anyways, I guess if they didn't have one, I would understand.
it's like when Heroes over-hyped the season 3 finale fight and then the writers closed the doors on us. I like parts of Invisible Thread but closing the door was a mistake.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter, Smallville never makes any kind of logical, linear sense anyway. It's kind of like the Bizzaro World without the chalky complexions.
ReplyDeleteClark/Lois angle doesn't interest me at all. Same way I was with Clark/Lana or Lex/Lana. Badly written romances don't interest me.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason I will watch it the finale is to see Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. It began with them its only fitting it should end with them.
It would be silly to get people excited about a wedding up until the finale and then have Lois and Clark break up. The show might be part of a bigger comic book story, but it still needs to stand on its own for people who don't have much interest in the entire story of Superman. I guess it doesn't really matter.
