In the episode #3 of "The Borgias", Ottoman Prince Djem is reflected in a very wrong way. I condemn writers for not bothering to look up historical documents. First of all, he came to Vatican during Pope Innocent VIII. Besides, he never wanted to be a Christian. Finally he wasn't killed by Pope (or Vatican). Mark these words!!!
"CSI: Miami", "The Killing", "The Borgias" and "Game of Thrones". Especially "The Killing" is great, so realistic and natural. Atmosphere is impressive ;)
I guaran-damn-tee that Burn Notice: The Fall Of Sam Axe is going going to draw more viewers than just about anything else on cable, and probably put a dent in broadcast viewership as well.
I should hope so. I've been looking forawrd to this for months. Besides if it gets really good ratings, USA Network has said they might make others. Fiona prequel, Michael prequel - here we come!
I wouldn't be surprised to me if Game of Thrones gets more than The Fall of Sam Axe. With the full weight of the HBO marketing machine behind it and Burn Notice movie not getting very much hype.... not to mention that Game of Thrones is the most anticipated show (by most accounts) of 2011. I heard rumors of HBO having free service in some markets to up their ratings for the premiere also....
There is a huge difference between historical biographies as history and historical dramas as entertainment. Almost every entertainment series takes liberties with actual history when making a series. Right or wrong.... just tthe way it is....
I'm not sure sorry. We don't have free HBO this weekend here, but I read that they were considering doing that in major markets 2 weeks ago I think... maybe 3. I never saw or heard anymore about it though....
Fro those watching Game of Thrones tonight that have not read the books (or who just like reading about the series or world), here is a great Game of Thrones 101 article on MSN.
Just watched an advanced copy of Fall of Sam Axe. It's got everything - humor in spades, action, explosions of course, a thoroughly satisfying punch, a tiny bit of romance, and even an aw! moment or two. Check it out tonight on USA at 9/8 C. You don't have to see a single episode of Burn Notice to follow it, but if you do, there's also an unshaven Michael Westen and the rise of Chuck Finley. Seriously, check it out. It's a lot of fun.
Actually it would surprise me. Most people in America do not get HBO but a lot of them get USA Network. Plus, USA is the most watched basic channel network in America. It's gotten huge advertising on USA in the middle of all their popular marathons. While I can see HBO getting a majority of excitement in online communities, those communities do not represent the majority of Nielsen viewers. If they did, Firefly would have had 5 seasons, Fringe and Supernatural would be bigger than Idol, and someone somewhere would still be watching Summer Glau on a TV show.
I think the Fall of Sam Axe will get more viewers , but it will not be a huge margin... or I don't think it will. True Blood gets 4.5 million a week.. sometimes over 5 and it has at least as limited genre appeal. That is similar numbers or better numbers than Burn Notice.
No guarantee Game of Thrones will get True Blood numbers, but it is certainly a possibility.

NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGood to hear... I have read very mixed reviews leaning toward bad more than good. I plan on watching it tomorrow.

Hey I found a site that previews free preview weekends. Ha! http://www.freepreview.tv/
ReplyDeleteIt says Cox , Verizon and DirecTV subscribers in some markets have free HBO this weekend.
Thanks so much. Nothing for Comcast. I will go to them and find out what I can get free. It's worth a try:)
