  1. Brilliant premiere. Exactly what I was hoping for, a dark, gripping, rather slow-paced and intense show, showing the repercussions of this murder case in detail. The Pilot was really awesome, perfectly done. I found the introduction of the characters involved especially well done. The Cage managed to keep up the quality.
Great addition to the AMC programming, I'm already hooked.

  3. as usual with AMC shows i hate the pacing,,i'd stick to cheesy faster paced shows like Harper's Island

  4. That's one of the reasons I usually like them. But it shouldn't come as a surprise in this case. It's no secret that every episode will cover one day of the investigation in this murder case, so it was pretty clear to me that it would be slow-paced.

  5. So far so good. The acting has been great, but I'm worried the show can't get past being a procedural, giving us a clue each week. but anyway, so far so good. I'll be tuning in.

  6. I love the pacing too. It takes real acting, directing and writing skills to show that the still and silent parts of life mean something.

  7. One of the better pilots of the season for me.

Despite being a detective series, it has a very original feel, more like a movie than the typical procedural. It doesn't force hints down the viewers throat, in fact it doesn't force anything down the viewer's throat like most series. It lets it all unfold at a natural pace giving you the experience of actually being in the moment. Many people may miss important information since their is no camera pointing directly at the clue and no dramatic pauses or sideways glances or snarky comments when a clue is found like on most procedurals.

Brilliant acting and direction to me. Each scene means something to a character or to the case, but you may not realize what it is showing until another piece is revealed later and combines to form a more important part of the puzzle. No overly dramatic acting or writing or amped up action scenes to highlight events, just real unfiltered, raw life being exposed by powerful performances.

I did have one WTF moment in the opening scene I was like... "What is that a polar bear?" I felt like some odd Lost island thing happening until the picture cleared.

Great cast and great detailed plot so far. A+ marks!

  9. Does the new Detective Holder remind anyone of someone from a movie or series? I cannot place it. I looked the actor up on IMDB and I haven't seen him in anything else, but the way he speaks or his looks... something about him reminds me of some one.... driving me nuts.....

  10. The pacing is perfect and lends much to the mood of the thing. Hope it lasts.

  11. It's a show about a crime, but for me not really a procedural. It's just about this one single case and we see a lot of the characters and their loved ones. It also had this movie feeling for me.

The acting was great and I'm ready to make my second early Emmy nomination prediction - Michelle Forbes. She was simply amazing in those 2 episodes.

  12. OH I agree. I was responding to a different comment more so than saying I thought of it as a procedural.

Did you ever watch "Durham County"? It's a Canadian crime series that completed its third (and I think final) season this year.. It has a very similar vibe to it. Stars Hugh Dillon as the lead detective, and in the first season Justin Louis also. Then in the second season Michelle Forbes co-stars. She was amazing in it.

  13. No, but I gues shows like that have a hard time finding viewers in Europe because they don't have a big fanbase and a lot of buzz going on around them. I'm currently catching up on a lot of good shows that I've missed over the years, so I'll add that to my list. Thanks!
