  1. Broyles. On drugs. Hands down best thing I've ever seen.

  2. What the frack did Olivia just do at the end of the episode. Like all 'yeah thats the guy thats going to kill me' WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  3. It was awesome and different of any other FRINGE episode. I know some people are gonna hate it, but i loved it. And what was that last line? MINDBLOWING.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Definitely one of my favorite episodes ever.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Crazy episode. Was a mind fuck. It was like Inception mixed with A Scanner Darkly. Can't say I expected 90% of any of what happened. At first I had to adjust my mind to whether or not I liked it or not, but then realised that it was brilliant. Very experimental, but brilliant nonetheless. Everybody delivered great performances...specifically Lance Reddick! But, I found myself almost crying with laughter at "You're bald! I think he's an Observer". Great episode! Can't wait for next week; "I am become death; destroyer of worlds!"

    ReplyDelete
  6. did you spot the observer? i didn't .

    ReplyDelete
  7. Is there any question here? It was crazy, it was awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Great way to end the episode. I thought Walternate was going to supposedly kill her. Now I'm just: O_________O

    ReplyDelete
  9. ~ "Doctor, I have been jolted once today and if you do it again, you will kill me and the young woman I'm living inside of"

~ *worried look* "Enter Olivia's mind how exactly?"

~ "Astrid! You need to mix up 2000miligrams of LSD and we need some sugar cubes..."

~ *head caress* "You're bald!?!" "Walter we're ready!"

~ "You touched the tray with the sugar cubes.... have you ever taken LSD?"

The Walking Dead... no. Game of thrones multiple beheadings... not so much. Mulitple undead Brandonates?? Omuh GAWD.... that is SCARY!!!!

Broils saw death.. a not so subtle foreshadowng to the "beloved" character death in the finale?

A nice bit of closure having Olivia say she knew that Peter would recognize the "real her". They have come a long way since Fauxlivia-gate.

It takes a cartoon acid trip for Olivia to realize that she is her own worst enemy? Wow, maybe Timothy Leary was on somethig... I mean onto something afterall!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I thought Broyles was the Observer in this one :P

    ReplyDelete
  11. FREAKING AWESOME.

Loved everything. And Broyles was incredible. I think his comment about seeing Death and it being himself might have been a nod back to seeing his dead alt-verse self. I mean, he was as stoic as ever when he saw him in Entrada, but that would get to anyone.

Loved the Bell-Olivia conversation. I've been waiting for that, and I'm glad we got it. I can't wait for next week!

Most underrated cast on television. Fringe needs some awards love.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I thought I saw a blad guy walk behind Peter when they first entered the acid trip, but it was so fast and I did not want to pause it.... I was in the moment!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm pissed Nimoy isnt returning.

    ReplyDelete
  14. One of my favorite moments was Walter's face when Astrid responded to being called "Astro".

    ReplyDelete
  15. Found him! The Observer is in the hospital behind the nurse's station as they bring Olivia into the ER. He walks from right to left in the doorway behind the nurse's desk.

    ReplyDelete
  16. epic! for me better than The Abducted, second after Entrada in S3

    ReplyDelete
  17. As crazy as Brown Betty. LOVED IT. The end KILLED me. #punintended

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well we still do not know the context of the Walternate Olivia death scene that photos have leaked on here.... This mystery X man (who I thought looked a bit like Henry Rollins) may kill her before or after Walternate shoots Olivia. Also. With Broyles seeing death and having been killed "over there" it could be that Olivia saw Fauxlivia's death 'over there'. Maybe our acid trips over here give visions of their lives over there?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, it was definitely a throw back to him seeing himself cut in half. So great they are bringing that back though. It was incredible how much development went on for Broyles even though he was only on screen for a little bit. Lance Reddick is the man.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I still can't accept that they will "kill" Olivia. Not because the show couldn't work without her, but the PTB tease some one dying and then a few days later Olivia says I think that's the guy that kills me. It seems too obvious. I know there's pics of Walternate shooting her, but I am still expecting a twist..... bait and switch style. Everything points to Olivia and then someone else gets got.

Maybe I am over thinking it, but I expect and am accustomed to being surprised by FRINGE.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Agreed! SOOO did not expect that!!! I was laughing so hard. Funnier that Walter and Peter on drugs combined!

    ReplyDelete
  22. It really is too bad that Nimoy is in semi-retirement because William Bell is a large part of the FRINGE mythology and his character could add so much to the series as semi-regular recurring guest star. I wish they would have cast a less iconic actor that was willing to be in more episodes now....

    ReplyDelete
  23. You know thats interesting! When Walter was first describing alternate universes to Olivia, he said it was like deja vu. When you have deja vu, its because you already did it in an alternate universe. And Walter said that he and Bell used LSD to enhance that perception. So maybe they are seeing into the other universe. Thank you I feel so much better now! As much as I have learned to love Fauxlivia, I can handle her dying a little easier than our Olivia...it will still be heartbreaking but not utter depression that will come if Olivia dies

    ReplyDelete
  24. I loved it too!! It had everything that makes Fringe awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mine too! I laughed SOO hard!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think we are going to be taken on a Uncle Scrooge ride to the Ghost of Christmas future and see Olivia get killed there. Unless Olivia became psychic due to the heroic doses of sweet family fluff. I think next year there will still be the 2 universes and probably even 2 olivias even if 1 dies (in the future).

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think that too. For me seeing the pics of Walternate killing Olivia instantly popped Ghosts of Christmas past into my mind. The title of it... The Day We Died just lends itself to someone looking back on the day that they died, but obviously they are still alive since they are looking back on it.

With FRINGE though I never assume I am right... I just theorize and enjoy the ride...

    ReplyDelete
  28. i think this was the best episode by far, when the show kept doing the animated route i was a bit discouraged but then it got amazing and I was blown away by every single bit the episode had. The last lines, Olivia. wow

    ReplyDelete
  29. It seems to me that the two universe split off due to some experiment or the machine going wonky and that the finale will either rejoin them but cause a different problem of time instability or cause some rift and destroy one by opening a third.

It would not shock me if the combining of Red and Blue leads us to the past or future ant all.Eventually all JJ Abrams series have time travel in some form.. next they need to end up in Tunisia with Grunberg and he will have covered all his usual trappings.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I disagree. Its really about Walter's journey, not theirs together. Bell was great used sparingly. It's not Nimoy, it's Bell.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I swear I feel like they hid so so so much in this episode.
I'ma be diggin' for easter eggs until easter 2012...

But the entire cartoon part was just amazing. I think we could've done without the Inception mass crowd attacking taxi...if that wasn't in it, I wouldn't have ANYTHING bad to say about this episode. It was just incredible. I loved the Brandonate zombies, and ultimately the part where Young Olivia interacted with Peter and William... just so nice.

Then, the end...Geez, they know how to tease us!

Broyles & Astrid were amazing together. Broyles gave me chills for his ability to make me laugh out loud one second and the very next he was gettin' so deep. I think his little rant about death was more than just about him seeing Alt-Broyles dead...I feel like there's more to it.

The animation was incredible as well. Kudos to the artists!

    ReplyDelete
  32. That was my point. William Bell adds so much and could add so much more to FRINGE... I want Nimoy to be on more (not regularly but more) BECAUSE he is William Bell... not because is is Leonard Nimoy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Omfg that was awesome. Was the guy meant to kill Olivia Jack Bauer or Kiefer

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ummm...this would be the first episode I haven't rated as awesome. I would have loved it if it weren't for all the cartoon bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree. I rated it "Great" , but I would have done "Good" if it were there instead of "Ok". The animation bugged me on so many levels. Not the least of which was how little they resembled themselves when animated.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anyone who does not have dvr needs dvr.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It sounds so ridiculous to say aloud... or even type it, but having a DVR changes the way you live and makes TV viewing so much better in so many way other than just commercial skipping.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, that was certainly entertaining. The 'toon was just great! Reddick was hilarious. A very fun hour.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dunno. I kinda liked cartoon Bell better.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know there is always something to watch, when you record My sister has it, and if it weren't for my place being preset for cable, i'd have it too. adding dvr for cable might be an option I'll have to check on it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. So true. We just got ours this past summer. I now dare to watch shows I otherwise wouldn't have let myself get involved in, for fear of missing episodes. I wouldn't have watched Fringe. Imagine missing an episode of Fringe!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I took it as a shout out to phillip k dick, his book a scanner darkly was adapted to film overlayed with animation, quite like what we saw tonight. plus I doubt nemoy is coming back in person anytime soon if ever.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It'd be really nice if people would give some sort of warning before carelessly blurting out comments about death spoilers that some of us were doing great to avoid. F*cking hell.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Did anyone saw the Lost reference?
Cartoon Belly was drinking whisky... "MacCutcheon Whisky"
    Awesome!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Apologies.

I figured most people on a site called SpoilerTV would at least hear about the spoilers going on if not search them out. I try to seeing the detailed ones myself, but that one and the pictures have been discussed so much I assumed most people knew about it.

If it helps at all there was no context so the pictures could mean more than one thing. I will try to remember to add ** SPOILERS** to comments referring to spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ok whoever came up with the options in the poll needs to rethink that. Awesome does not even come close. I laughed so hard i missed a lot. And although I don't have cable or satellite, I watch with antenna
and tape the old fashioned way, I've seen it twice already and am still laughing. Broyles totally stole the show and just thinking about it makes me laugh.
Going to get up at 6 am (I should make that 6:02 AM) tomorrow to watch on hulu so I can look for easter eggs and turn caption on and listen for clues.
    What a trip!

Oh and a Fringe friend and I are going to watch the re-run and before that have LSD for dinner, that is lasagna, salad and dessert which will be animal crackers and butterscotch pudding.
    Happy Fringing everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think there will definitely be some time travel involved since they introduced that in Firefly. As to the third universe, the producers said that was not going to happen for awhile if ever. But its Fringe and anything is possible :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree. Awesome doesn't even begin to cover what this episode was! I can't even think of a proper word to describe it. There was humor (A LOT OF IT), fear, anger, sadness, love, and a whole heck of a lot of anticipation!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Woah woah woah, I haven't looked at any things on here with the 'Major Spoilers' title on here and I haven't heard anything about this. What the hell!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Am it the only one that didn't absolutely love this episode? Don't get me wrong I didn't think it was bad or boring or anything, but it was more miss than hit for me.
    Redeeming moments:
-Broyles on LSD (and Peter's "I think he's an oberserver")
    -Bell's non-goodbye.
-The wtf moment at the end

I don't know why, but it was just "good" for me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I know; there really should be something in between OK and great! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Freakin' amazing!! Can't wait to re-watch it!!!!!

I don't think I've ever laughed so much during a FRINGE episode :
-He's an observer! Lol, poor Peter.
-Broyles whistling with the little bird and blowing bubbles (Kudos to Lance! Finally, we get to see a funny and laid back Broyles! lol)

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this, but seriously, what's up with homicidal Nina? Scary! :-0

The whole cartoon part was simply amazing and original. I didn't see that one coming!

Peter finding Olivia = adorable ♥

    The end = wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Did anyone see Agent Dunham lying down on her side on the commercial that was on the side of the bus that Walter was sitting on!!
    What a great episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. At first when I saw the animation, I was like, "Uh oh...". You know what, that was probably, no definitely, the best thing I have ever seen on TV. Wow, just wow.

    ReplyDelete
  55. When Walter fell out of the Zeppelin he fell on Reidon Lake.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I didn't get the hole comic stuff (with it's break) neighter why they saw Olivias murder in her mind (which of course could be explained in the next episode).

    ReplyDelete
  57. That was fucking AWESOME!!! the best episode, OMG, it was......im speechless

    ReplyDelete
  58. Kent Tucker in ew.com says that Olivia doesnt trust Nina yet, so thats why she try to kill them

    ReplyDelete
  59. "(I am so jealous of those who will one day watch this series straight through on DVD.)"

I don`t agree with that sentence. From my own experience when I watch a show with its own mythology I know that a better way to experience the show is to watch it on TV...I mean one episode a week with nothing being certain.

I watched LOST last summer for example. It took me about 10 days to watch the whole show. And I never stopped to come up with a theory and that was the thing that made people to love it even more. That you could guess what`s gonna happen next and so on. It was like watching it before you even realize what it`s about.

Now with Fringe I have a lot of time to think about it, I have a time to relate to characters etc. It`s better when we get the show like this in a weekly doses you know. At least I think that`s the better way. I can`t explain it properly with words...it`s just a feeling or something like that. I hope you know what I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Could it be the mysterious Moreau right?

    ReplyDelete
  61. definitely the best thing of the episode!!!! it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. so olivia actually eats... lol

    ReplyDelete
  63. When I saw the cartoon version of the Mysterious man who is gonna kill Olivia, I thought it was Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson...
    I hope it's not :P

Loved it. Brilliant, different. I would watch that Fringe animated series!

    ReplyDelete
  64. wow, what a sick episode.... awesome :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I was thinking at the time that the cartoon segment was getting a little long. But when I looked at my watch I couldn't believe it was 9.50 already. The whole hour went by too fast. It was a fantastic episode and gave me a lot to think about.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Oh I know what you mean. I agree to some extent. You lose on the theories to some extent. However, you get instant gratification and you may pick up on more as everything is fresh in your mind.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Loved it, wrote a great deal about it's comparisons with LOST (Desmond, Smokey, whh, and the FS/failsafe) Here: http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=22497

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks for the spoiler info... :/

    ReplyDelete
  69. No you're right, it is a Spoiler site so I should be the one exercising caution not you. I was just on a high last night after watching this week's episode and then I saw that spoiler and... well I'm sure you can understand. I myself only use the site to look at official promo material, as do many other people, but to expect the comments to be spoiler free is absurd so no need to apologise.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Broyles saw death.. a not so subtle foreshadowng to the "beloved" character death in the finale?

I thought he was just referring to having seen the dead body of the 'over there' version of himself.

    ReplyDelete
  71. YES! I've been scrolling through all these comments just looking for SOMEONE who saw that too. Interesting - partly because generally the producers try to avoid comparing themselves to lost, and partly cause I really want this to lead onto something!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yeh, Olivia's animated version was terrible... the other were okay though. In general I enjoyed it, and it was a clever way to have Bell there without an actor.

    ReplyDelete
  73. But the mystery which is driving the story and keeps you hooked to the show is taken from you when you watch it on DVD. Cause after a couple of hours you will get some answers and after 14 hours of watching you get the answers to whatever was on the show important and kept as a mystery.

And the mystery and those many possibilietes are the things that make the story atractive to me. And the great characters of course. But in a weekly doses you can process it and it gets some time to you know...settle down in your mind.

The good thing is to watch a sitcom in a marathon. Cause it`s a SITuation COMedy - that means it`s funny in that moment and you don`t have to worry about it the whole week. Or shows like CSI...that primitive concept when everything is solved in 43 minutes makes it great to watch it in a marathon. But not a show like Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Good idea to watch with captions. A very different experience. I wish they would do enhanced versions ala Lost.

    ReplyDelete
  75. when Peter and Walter were talking and Broyles blew bubbles in the background, I completely didn't pay attention to what they were talking about, instead laughed myself off chair looking and Broyles. Mad props ;)

    ReplyDelete
  76. RIGHT? Why the hell else would they throw in a MacCutcheon reference? Maybe it's JJ Abrams fav whiskey.

But yeah, I knew it was MacCutcheon the moment I saw it - even through accidental fast-forwarding thanks to DVR.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Great episode but I think the animation went on too long. I think it was great for a while, but maybe when they left the WTC it could've switched back... although the logistics of filming a group of zombies chasing the leads off the WTC and onto a zeppelin could have been tricky. That said, the final scene with Olivia & Bell SHOULD have been live-action. I have more questions/complaints/praises/etc. on my own Recap & Review of the episode at www.TheTwoCents.com.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Read it. Good recap.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Read your forum comment, of course. I read everything about Lost that I can. The Peter/Olivia constant idea is intriguing. Guess we know how the eventual series finale will go (hah!).

I have tried to join the Forum but my e-mail program gives me dire warnings :(. Will try again some time.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I honestly very rarely look at spoilers or leaked set pics for FRINGE myself. I only occasionally go to the next episode promo thread even. I like to theorize, but prefer to be surprised by the rollercoaster ride that is FRINGE.So I understand!

Even if the apology may not have been required... I felt badly... so It felt right to apologize I guess.

I hope you don't stop coming to this awesome site due to a few of us speaking in spoilery language or hinting at things we have read or seen here.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I still think that Bell isn't gone , Olivia did give him the space to control her body .

the man which want to kill Olivia ... I think it's the man which want to kill Bell ! .. we were in her mind , Olivia has a photograph memory , if this man from Bell's soul .. sure she isn't knowing him , but Bell will know him , and knows he will kill him . just a theory .. to keep me watching .

    ReplyDelete
  82. I made a lot of references to Peter and Desmond (and smokey, Jacob, and the FS) here: http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=22497

    ReplyDelete
  83. I think that's a good thing to keep in mind, because it sure seemed like Bell isn't completely gone, but rather he found a way to share Olivia's body with out having her body die!

    ReplyDelete
  84. right , because he said to Olivia after Olivia rescued him and herself :

I think my experiment was right after all.You should have been safe inside your mind,Except it's you, and you have never felt safe. You are your own worst enemy, Olivia. You took the opportunity to let your fears overwhelm you, but you just fought back.In the end, you are as strong as Walter and I always believed you were.

So Olivia was in control now for her body and for Bell's soul too , and I don't think that Olivia will let him go , Olivia was hearing every thing was going in her mind and was waiting to see Peter if he will know her or not , So Olivia knows the importance of Bell's existence .. So he did give the chance to live inside her and to take control and as how Walter did reveal about the cortixphane kids :

Cortexiphan subjects experience a strong desire to blend in, to stay in the background. They were designed that way.

So Olivia is background for now .. and Bell is over taking her body by her agreement

That's how my imagination is permitting to me to think .. cuz I don't want Olivia to die !

    Really . lol .. i can't believe myself haha

    ReplyDelete
  85. He likely was, but I am one of those that thinks some one other than Olivia will be killed in the finale and felt that this could be foreshadowing as well as reflection.

    ReplyDelete
  86. omg EPIC AWESOMENESS PURE! They are freaken CARTOONS! ahhah! i know im late :D WOW! love it
