Showtime gives orders to the Don Cheadle comedy House of Lies and to the Claire Danes drama Homeland.
“On the heels of successfully launching our four freshman series in the last 8 months, we’re excited to introduce the next wave of Showtime shows,” said Nevins. “HOMELAND and HOUSE OF LIES are audacious in both their concept and their casting. They build upon the network’s successful pedigree and expand the definition of what a SHOWTIME series can be.”
HOMELAND is a psychological thriller that tells the story of Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons, who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Scott Brody (Damian Lewis) a U.S. soldier who had been missing and presumed deal for nine years, was a setup and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin will portray Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s (Danes) boss and mentor. HOMELAND is written by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff, and is based on Raff’s Israeli television series “Prisoners of War.” The series will be produced by FOX 21.
HOUSE OF LIES is a half-hour comedy created, written and executive produced by Matthew Carnahan from the hit tell-all book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn. The new comedy is a scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm. Cheadle stars as Marty, a highly-successful and cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his way with and for his clients. Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) will play Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate who works at Marty’s firm. Co-stars include noted comedian Ben Schwartz (Undercovers) and Josh Lawson (Romantically Challenged) as Marty’s corporate team members; Dawn Oliveri (Heroes) as Marty’s acerbic ex-wife; the legendary Glynn Turman (In Treatment) as his psychoanalyst father; and Donis Leonard Jr. (The Fresh Beat Band) as Marty’s young son. Jessika Borsiczky (Flash Forward) will serve as executive producer, and Emmy winner Stephen Hopkins (Californication, 24) directs and executive produces.

This is really good news, to air in fall or next january I assume?
ReplyDeleteNo dates set yet. Probably the 2011/12 season
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to both series...
ReplyDeleteI like and respect so many of the actors who have signed on for these two shows yet I have little interest in the premise of either program. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see some footage.
ReplyDeleteHomeland's premise is more interesting than House of Cards' in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThese two shows seem trully great, I look forward to both of them.
ReplyDeleteDamian Lewis/Claire Danes on one side, Don Cheadle/Kristen Bell on the other side : I love it.
