This is making me very sad. I love House so much but I'm afraid that if it ends now, we're never going to have House and Cuddy somewhat happy ever after. TPTB completely ruined the show by sticking to its old ways and always going back to'what some long time ago 'worked'
I love House. SO MUCH. But they are really screwing things up in this last episodes. I didn't see the episode of this week, I hope that with Thirteen back, things get better. Even going bad, House can't end yet. Still one of the best show, the writers just need to be careful.
No, I think season 4 was pretty interesting, with the old team leaving and the whole game house made to discover who was going to take the jobs. but it should have ended in the season 5 finale.
One more Season. Season 6 was the start of a steep slope (coming from a Huddy fan). Season 7 picked up again but can't say I was that enamoured by the entire Huddy arc. The 2 episodes post Bombshells were borderline ridiculous. Last night's was fantastic. Loved it. Give it one more Season to give it a proper send off. It deserves that.
I don't agree with most of you. House has not lost his quality, it's just become different. Now, in one episode, we have several stories, in which we can see character's personal life (+ the POTW of course). Before, it was all about the POTW. I highly prefer season 7 that the first one. Problem is, when something changes, people can't help criticizing, brooding over the past, instead of just taking the story as it is, as it comes up.
I totally agree with you, I really do prefer S7 over S1. I wasn't a huge fan of the Huddy arc but to me this weeks episode proved to me the strength of House. That being said, it has to end some time and I would like to see one last season to wrap everything up and give the story some sort of resolution
I definitely think it's time to pull the plug, which is difficult for me to say when I love this show so much. But it's definitely losing its magic really quickly for me... I'd love to see the happy ending that House deserves, however.
At the beginning of this season would've said yes because huddy was killing the show. Actually it should've ended with Broken. But I don't want them to end it with House all mopey-dogg over cuddy. Also don't want to ever see the happy huddy ending. So let's see if they can get it back to normal by this season's finale.
The mess is already done. it should have ended on season 5. Now they should at least prepare a final season with the best they can do. I hope it's season 8.
Well before last night I would say just let it go already. But last night was so good. I don't know, I love House, just don't concentrate too much on the drug use and get him some happiness. I could live with that at the end of this season. So either way I will turn in again if it came back next season, but it would also be ok to end it now. It had a great run.
I thought it should have ended 2 years ago. Obviously the producers knew it was stale as a series and they tried to change things up with romances (failure on their part) and change the show dynamic once again. It could have ended on top but they dragged it out and the last year or two has lowered the series on average from something original and fabulously snarky... to something predictable and boring. Then on top of it they changed the major players with relationships and made each individual worse also.
Although I agree to an extent that there is some truth in each of the reasons, I don't think that they are reasons to end House.
1 Hugh Laurie is still amazing, and I can still point to many moments, even in this last episode, that establish that fact.
2 The characters are still uniquely complicated and very realistic.
3 is still a tremendous international following for this series (65+ countries), which are not accounted for in the national ratings.
4 Even if last night's episode had uncharacteristically low ratings, It might be noted that at least 8 million fans find it anyway, despite DWTS' overbearing influence over that time slot. And then there is the recording audience.
5 Although IMO it was a mistake to cut out both Wilson and Cuddy last night, (and I think that this was the first time that this double deletion has happened), the real mistake was to replace them with Hadley in this or any episode. Not criticizing the actress, the character is no Cuddy, and certainly no Wilson. As long as these three remain, House, Wilson, and Cuddy, and there's a good chance that they will, the awesomeness will remain.
I thought the last episode was fantastic. However, the 2 episodes post Bombshells were ridiculous. After discovering House was back on vicodin I was looking forward to see how they handled it, thinking it'd be like Help Me where he hates that he has relapsed (or about to). At the end of the day he's an addict and through personal experiences with addiction (family and then research) no addict I have ever come across has acted the way House did. The immature way he did in 7x16 & 7x17. It's not the vicodin addict we knew for 5 seasons. Above that, the struggle he went through to get clean he would hate that he's back on them. I was definitely expecting a fast downward spiral circa Season 5.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It should have ended after the old team left.

ReplyDelete2 months ago my answer would probably be no. Unfortunetely, the last 3 episodes were the final nail in the coffin of this show.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of House. But all good things must come to an end.
ReplyDeleteIt can't end now just for the simple fact that they have no end to the series in place. They need to plan and produce and end to the show.
ReplyDeleteGive the show a proper final season.
There'll never be enough House! :D

ReplyDeleteYes, end it. The horse has been dead for years.

I think if the actors are all looking for inflated salaries, its just time to go. Leave room for something new to come in.

ReplyDeleteI don't see why it should end. It's a slightly different show, but it's still very enjoyable...

ReplyDeleteNo huddy, no party
ReplyDeleteIt was House who became the doormat when he got together with Cuddy. Cuddy became a harpy.
ReplyDeleteAnd the writing turned into a steaming pile, everyone OOC, huge egregious errors in continuity, juvenile and unprofessional.
House, move over for someone who still wants it.
Totally agree here :)

Agreed. Season 3 was the end of something awesome... but Season 4 had the best season finale ever as well as a fairly interesting concept.

ReplyDeleteSeason 4 was the best. It was all downhill from there IMO.
ReplyDeleteNice job !
ReplyDeleteWe should write an article "5 reasons it's NOT time to pull the plug"
I understand the points made in the article, I don't agree, but I do understand. However, pulling the plug on House will mean a big loss for TV.
