Hawaii 5-0 - Who Will Die?

Apr 11, 2011

CBS' Hawaii Five-0 will say a final aloha to a familiar face in the May 16 season closer. "It's sort of our all-star episode," teases exec producer Peter Lenkov. "Jean Smart [Governor Jameson], Kelly Hu [Laura Hills] and Will Yun Lee [Sang Min] are all coming back." But one star will not return next season. "There will be a murder," confirms Lenkov.

On the possible hit list: Grace Park (Kono), who may have tired of living in Hawaii, plus Jean and Kelly, both of whom have new NBC pilots. Stressing that "pilots may not get picked up," Lenkov confirms that his cliff-hanger will be a "Holy crap! I-can't-believe-they-did-that whodunit!"

  1. Yikes. So possible that Danno being hospitalised in the finale is a part of the death, as in he and another are caught in an explosion or gunfire or something, and he survives whereas the other dies. It'll be very sad to see any of the regulars on this series go! Cool though, i like when a show has guts enough to kill a regular.

  4. I was about to suggest the same thing. From a storytelling standpoint, Killing off the Governor would be the most interesting angle. The 5-0 task force relies heavily on the authority and resources given to them by the governor of Hawaii. If that is taken away, and the governor is replaced with someone else who doesn't feel the same about the task force, it could make doing their job very difficult for 5-0.

  5. Oh no I hope they don't kill Kono off :(

  6. I really hope it's Jenna Kaye!!

  7. That's probably the last person I'd want to be killed. Besides Wo Fat, she's the one and only interesting addition to Hawaii Five-0.

  8. That would make for interesting stories in the second season!

  9. McGarrett? Nope, he is the main character of the show, would be pretty lame without the head of the Task Force. Besides me personally I love the character way too much to loose him.

Danno? The same as for McGarrett.

Chin? I don't think so, he is a real cool character, would be really hard to replace him.

Kono? The only women of the team? Who are you kidding?

So I think the four main characters are pretty save.

Rachel, Stan, Grace? They are not going to kill of a kid. The Ex-Wife? That would complicate Danny's life way too much, I mean as a single father and all. Stan? Well maybe, but that would mean Rachel had no reason to stay in Hawaii and if she would leave so would the main reason for Danny to stay in Hawaii. So I guess he is pretty safe too.

Governor Jameson? I don't think so, I mean it IS the Governors Task Force after all. I think it is too early to question the Task Force itself this early in the run of the show. But who knows.

Cathrine Rollins? (she is in a new series, some war zone hospital, or something like that) I hope not, I like her and Steve, they are good together. Besides ANOTHER “Family member” of Steve's to kill off would be a bit of an overkill. At least I think so.

Mamo or Kamekona? Well Mamo is a witness and wasn't there an attempt on his life already? Even if it was never said it was for him or McGarrett. Kamekona, well he does have ties to the “underworld”, so maybe it could be him. Hope not, I like him, he is a fun character.

My money is on Victor Hesse. He knows way too much about Wo Fat and is a liability to him. So I think he needs to go.

Actually I have no idea who it might be, just one think I know for sure, I'm thinking way too much about this. LOL

  10. Why her? I really like her, could be a very interesting character. Give her a chance, she was just in ONE episode so far.

  11. Whoops, my bad, doh, you're right. So, errrrr, i take that back then! :P

  12. I don't want it to be Kono and that is first I have heard about Grace Park getting tired of living in Hawaii. We like to think main characters will be safe, but I have learned on NCIS, that isn't always the case. I don't mind if it is Kaye though, she doesn't really work for me as a character, or at least as a CIA analyst. However that wouldn't be a shocker for me. I am leaning toward the governor though.

  13. Actually i think is gonna be the governor or Kono, because Larisa Oleynik ( Agent Kaye ) i think they said she maybe be a regular in second season, and Kono is like flat, im not sure i like her, and now knowing she got tired to live in Hawaii, maybe she is the one, but im guessing the governor, or even Rachel, Danno is not he is the best, i love him.

  14. oh im not happy, i love the team, maybe it's the governor they'll kill off? since she qualifies as a familiar face?

  15. They won't decide until the end of June if Larisa will be a regular next season or not. She stated that in an interview a few months back, when it was announced that she got the part of the new character. I like Kono and the whole team. There is something special about the four of them that works.

  16. Oh no, I don't want anyone to die! Goes without saying NOT Kono! She is a kick ass character. I love the governor, but it would lead to a huge dilemma for the team once they weren't under her protection and authority. The Sang Min character has so many layers and great potential, so I don't want it to me him either. I know it is early, but I didn't find the Jenna Kaye character believable and actually rather annoying so she would be my candidate. Kaye and Hu- I'm not invested in either so it wouldn't be a crushing loss to see one of them go. Can't wait to see what happens.

  18. Really? I don't hate her, but unless they improve her character a lot, I don't ever see myself liking her much either. I don't think they need any more characters. Kono and Chin don't get enough to do as it is. The should utilize them better instead of adding new people.

  19. "Really? I don't hate her, but unless they improve her character a lot, I don't ever see myself liking her much either."

She's been in one episode with maybe 10-12 minutes of total screen time. We don't even know her character that well yet.

"The should utilize them better instead of adding new people."

Kono and Chin are both woefully and excruciatingly boring. That's the fault of the writers and showrunners. It's not the quantity of screen time that needs to change, it's the quality.

Besides that, the producers are looking for an extra cast member to lighten the onscreen burden of their current actors. Apparently the workload is a killer. So, if it's not Larisa Oleynik as Jenna Kaye, it will eventually be someone else.

  20. I know one person who is possibly going from sources but I wont say because it does contain Spoilers.

But if it is Gov. Jameson or Hills who will McGarrett be working for if there is a 2nd season?

  21. May be its the nerdy medical examiner
