Fringe - Finale Spoiler from Ausiello

14 Apr 2011

A Fringe character is headed to the alternate universe known as heaven in the May 6 finale.
“Somebody who we all love deeply will die,” revealed executive producer Jeff Pinkner in a conference call to reporters on Thursday. Elaborating on next month’s climax, Pinkner said, “Hopefully it will be wholly unexpected and it will recontextualize the story of Season 3 in a really cool way, and be fun and entertaining and mind-blowing.”

  1. Yeah, it's always fun when someone dies LOL

  2. So this will make us rethink season three?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Something is wrong !

It can't be Olivia , it can't be Walter ... maybe Peter ? it also can't be !!!

Any one but not Olivia ! dammit !

    ReplyDelete
  4. =o Charlie, again? Not Lincoln I hope!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I deeply love Brandonate....is he going to die now? Please?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Like seriously? Permanently? Not like in one of the version of the future? Well, that's not good, although death of the beloved character always makes an episode even greater than usually.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Olivia can die, lets not forget 1-theres another Olivia who just happens to have given birth to Peter's son & has Peter's heart. 2- They did say the love story wouldn't go in a tradition sense,so read my #1. Olivia can die & Olivianate comes to peter's side.

  8. This comment makes me think this person may already be dead, and that this has all been an attempt at preventing that. We'll of course realize that during the finale when there is talk about time jumps and paradoxes, then suddenly the final scene will be a time shift... cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  9. And that would be the sort of thing to make me stop watching.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hopefully not.
    Olivia > Fauxlivia

    ReplyDelete
  11. Come on ! Olivia is better than the non sense Fauxlivia , Olivia is the heart .. the leader , Faux will never ever replace her no matter what IMO .

    no no ..I don't agree ... never .

    ReplyDelete
  12. ...but isn't it obvious who dies? Most of us have seen the spoiler set pics.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ausiello updated the post:

One thing the season-ender will not feature is the introduction of a long-rumored third universe. “We are not introducing a third world,” Pinkner maintained. “We still have plenty of story to tell just in those two worlds. Maybe at some pont in the future there will be a third word, but not yet.”

    ReplyDelete
  14. To be "someone fans love" it has to be on of the original three in my book since a lot of people never loved any of the Red Universes alternates.... maybe.... Damn you FRINGE!

    ReplyDelete
  15. ohh yeah if olivia dies it will be fun right !!! WTF ?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME NOW !!!! I'M KILLING SOMEONE !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. :( If Olivia does indeed die, her soul magnets will end up in Fauxlivia. Cue Season 4

    ReplyDelete
  17. IT IS OLIVIA IF YOU'VE SEEN PICTURES FROM SET LATELY YOU WILL SE THAT OLIVIA DIES AND WALTERNATE KILLS HER :O

    ReplyDelete
  18. I like being creeped out by Brandonate! I like the evil twistedness of him

    ReplyDelete
  19. 100% with you (; --An character that already existed, in a universe that already has existed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. But how is the yellow FRINGE Division patch explained? It's not found in the blue or red 'verse...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our universe might finally get Fringe Division uniforms.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's a third alterations, but it's probably the original, "before" a reset-split and multiple mutations occur.

This Olivia harbors the traits of both of ours and all the characters are alive at what would seem to be a future date, but technically, That Olivia has already died and her death probably resulted in Peter attempting to escape this fate from happening agian, but alas it could now not happen just once again, but twice---and then what if current Peter can time travel (physical or consciencelyy) to back then for answers?!! Or if all the character can remember this other past reality?!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. And all the story of cortixephan will be for non sense ! Olivia's body and soul are much more valuable than the non sense Fauxlivia . Dammit .

    ReplyDelete
  24. Olivia "can" die, but I doubt she will be the one.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ha ha, don't be so quick to freak out. Every season finale ends with a cliffhanger and seeing as this spoiler is released for the public eye to see, I think there's something even bigger hidden in store for us.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well we know it's our Olivia in the future because they say they definitely aren't bringing in a third universe yet, but I don't understand how it will "recontextualize" season 3.
FRINGE, I ARE CONFUSE, AS ALWAYS.

Did Ausiello really need to use the term heaven and play on my fears of Fringe becoming like LOST, without enough basis in science?

Added fellow EP J.H. Wyman: “Fringe always does things the way you don’t expect, so it’s going to be effective, and it will be self-explanatory. That's sort of all we can say without spoiling anything.”

Somehow that vagueness makes me feel better. Even with all of these spoilers, I expect Fringe to blow my fucking mind.

    ReplyDelete
  27. VSC also hints that Peter could die, but I think his body could....remember that this whole thing with William Bell is proof that death may not be permanent---that soul energy can be transfered to another vessel......Peter could go and live inside another version of himself or someone else---In White Tulip it was alluded that Peter doesn't may not get deja vu because he is not on track with his own destiny---I am thinking Peter may be "designed" to be Desmond esque ( andlike A. Peck)
---he might be able to replace himself in space time!

    ReplyDelete
  28. It can't be that easy ! why would they give it away ? i don't think it's her.

    ReplyDelete
  29. oh, damn.

I'm going to take a deep breath and have in mind that the producers probably know about the spoiler pictures we've all seen, therefore "unexpected" means it wont be Liv. One can dream, right?

    ReplyDelete
  30. The date on one set pic suggests 2021 -as there is also to be another older version of another character. I think they will show us another universe, but it may no longer exist NOW, because the machine essentually created this two instead. (Brown Betty -->Peter steals the heart and makes it two) "6B"--two sides to a coin = mitosis of the universe-->two Olivia's that use to be one. (and everyone else who has a double) So IMo this universe that existed to their 2021--may no longer so they wouldn't show us it again for a while...however they could still have 3rd universe people amongst us in the two universes...the Observers and John Mosley could be proof of this already.

    ReplyDelete
  31. We should also think about the title "The day WE died"---we may see more than one person go.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm surprised no one has said Astrid, or am I missing something.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1. Nina - That would recontextualize the story.
    2. Astrid - I love her and I would be sad.
    3. Prime Broyles - We won't have any Broyleses left.
    4. Gene - Oh who cares? It's just a cow. Sorry, PETA.
    5. Olivia - Nope. We've been set up for that. Red herring.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just did. Comments crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Peter loves OUR Olivia. If they replace her with Faux nonsense, then I'd seriously consider not watching the show.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I completely agree. Let's not do that, not at all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, I have wondered lately if the machine's use ripped apart the First people and their world in such a way that it caused the universe to replicate itself...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I care about Gene.
And I would be soooooooooooo sad over Astrid. Astrid+Walter have something that I look forward to with every episode...

    ReplyDelete
  39. If they really wanted to shock us, it would be Walter. I can't imagine the show without him, but wouldn't that be the most mind-blowing? They said "who we all love deeply", which makes me think Walter because there seem to be people who either don't like Olivia or don't like Peter, but who doesn't love Walter?, and I don't mean Walternate.

    ReplyDelete
  40. good point. Whoever it is I know it's going to be devastating and will bring many of us to the point of tears....

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's exactly what I have been thinking and saying since we heard the death rumors. Walter is the "fringe" in FRNGE and I cannot picture the series without him... I can picture it without every other character... Changed as it may be, it could move on without Peter or Olivia.....

    ReplyDelete
  42. yeah, that's what i think too. i don't think "who" dies is the question, but "when"...

    ReplyDelete
  43. well, there's the time lapse issue... maybe fringe becomes a recognised division of the fbi "over here"

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm thinking any double, meaning any character with a living over here/ over there situation will be subject to death. The universes are going to converge. Each character will either live or die, but their double will do the opposite.

    ReplyDelete
  45. What if they have an optimistic view on who the public loves? But I agree, Walter is the show.

    ReplyDelete
  46. i don't think fringe could do without olivia... she's the very main character! the main 3 characters are pretty indispensable. in shows that revolve around a group of people (eg. grey's) it's easier to write characters off and make major changes, but fringe tells the story of 3 people, basically. none of those 3 can leave without major damage to the show, but very especially olivia and walter!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I did see the sheet call when someone did post it , also the pics , i was hoping it's another universe or even the first people story line , but for now .. it's clear somehow 85% it's her ! and no one can bring any one from death , Walter didn't do it for his Peter .

Look i love Fringe , as long as Fringe is Fringe , killing off a main character just to get cliffhanger isn't the good idea or what ever !

    ReplyDelete
  48. Info indicating Olivia's death already leaked awhile back so that isn't really big news. What IS relatively big news is that Jeff Pinkner intimated that BOTH worlds survive past the season finale.

    ReplyDelete
  49. YEAH, that's actually a VERY good point, Bruce....it seems that no matter how hard we try, we'll never guess what's really in store for us before it airs. which is both reassuring and frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't think death is necessarily the final stage of life in terms of a show like Fringe. We know Olivia gets shot and we know Olivia gets a funeral, but still, why would they leak that information out weeks before telling us a beloved character will die? It's illogical if the producers want us to start guessing. They might as well say "Olivia will die", but they don't...even when every sign points to her. I don't call that suspense; there's something more to this.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Another thing, killing off the MAIN main character in the 3rd season of a planned 8 is also highly illogical, unless there is an additional twist to counterbalance the shock.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've been thinking along those lines for a while now, and I hope you're right!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Fringe fans have too much anxiety for their own good. We feared the Olivia-Fauxlivia switch would harm the structure of the show, but the crossover turned out to be the best arc of the third season. We feared the pregnancy storyline would kill Fringe, but it opened up a whole set of possibilities and made us feel for our alternate universe characters (if you still don't like Fauxlivia, at least treat her as an object of affection for the deserving Lincoln). We feared the Bellivia plot would cause the show to jump the shark, but from the previews of friday's episode, Fringe will knock that storyline out the park once again. We feared Fringe would become too soapy when Sam Weiss said whichever Olivia Peter picks will determine everything, but we all know Sam reveals much less than he really knows.

    Bottom-line: STOP WORRYING!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just to let the fans prepared ! ..... and as how i did say , Walter couldn't bring his Peter back from death .

all sign points to her .. i agree , but it will make no sense at all , even if i will give it a try to think how they can come back from her death ... it will looks not logical at all ... and will open so many doors .. first of it : why Walter didn't bring back his Peter ? why Walter didn't use the time machine to go back and cure his Peter ?

    That's for example .

    ReplyDelete
  55. I agree .. i hope it's not her ... but all things say it's her ! and that's not good at all .

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh people, dont ´t be panic, there is written that somebody who we love, will die, and not is going to die, and according of spoiler set photos is obvious, that the storyline is happening in the future, so if there won´t be third universe, I suppose that this will be a flashforward with September. Do you remember Walter-September dialog in Firefly, Semptember told him, that there is a lot of versions of possible future and could showed him all of them, but didn´t know, which is going to happen... so it´s possible that in one of future ´s version could our Olivia die, but it could be reversed, so don ´t worry, :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh, I pray to God it's not Peter. Oh dear me. It could be Broyles or Astrid, but I doubt it's Astrid after her interview a couple of days ago. So that said, Peter, Walter, Olivia or Broyles are all in the running...I would die if it were Walter or Peter...or ever Olivia. :(

If they kill off our olivia, and replace her with our olivia, I"M GOING TO BE PISSED!! Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Totallyaddicted00514 April 2011 at 22:55

we've already seen photos of olivia dying... the question is, is it the future? the yellow verse? or our olivia?? or feaux?

    ReplyDelete
  60. It can't be Olivia she is lead role. William Bell I think is gonna die.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I loathe when shows make light of a character death by bringing them back soon after. I would miss Olivia if she dies in our timeline/universe, but I would want her to stay dead. A death should have impact and not be overturned by hitting the proverbial "reset button" at a later date.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I'm not concerned or worried at all.

With Fringe, Death isn't permanent! :P

    ReplyDelete
  63. me too, unless of course said reset is done in a mind - blowing, universe altering, time jumping way, which I'm sure would be the case in Fringe

    ReplyDelete
  64. What about Broyles, then? AltBroyles is dead and gone so Broyles Prime has no double. If he dies, he goes to heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Actually, I think Fringe COULD go on without Walter. They need Olivia for obvious reasons (no one will watch if they kill her off) and Peter's the only one who can operate the machine which will save or create universes. Walter's the most dispensable out of the main three :/

    ReplyDelete
  66. But on the other hand, it would be quite logical if it were Astrid. She is a character all the fans love. Killing her off would mean that the show could still easily continue but it would make a nice new storyline and the like.. besides, weren't they casting for a new young fbi agent?

    ReplyDelete
  67. RIGHT ! but Killing off OLIVIA WILL BE JUMP THE SHARK .

    ReplyDelete
  68. Jesus, Real1 chill! I completely understand your enthusiasm, and I'd also be devastated to see Olivia die, but in Jasika's words: it's a SHOW.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Don't worry , you're probably not seeing me again posting soon .

    ReplyDelete
  70. haha don't worry that much!!! relax and enjoy it, I'm sure they're going to surprise us, after all if Fringe has taught me anything it's to expect the unexpected, and we're all kind of expecting her to die. XD

    ReplyDelete
  71. Exactly. I am not worried either.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Try not to sweat it, Real1...If Bell can come back, anyone can!! (:
I think whatever we see might be sad, but I don't think it's completely the end of anything or any body, but rather we may come to know how things have transformed.

They have been playing too much with soul energy IMO. I would expect that "soul energy" and it's understandings probably lie with the technology of the First People and that might be important.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm not worried, but not for that reason exactly.

    1. It doesn't matter who I think it is... it matters who the writers say it is. So why worry?
    2. I have NEVER been so attached to one character on a series I watch that the loss of that one role alone would make me stop watching.(excluding series named for one character ie House, Castle).
    3. I have enjoyed the series so far and trust the writers to follow their vision.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Why would that be unfortunate? If one character had to go she is the least important to Fringe and its storylines. I'm not sure I would even miss her and I bet Walter can find someone else to get him strawberry milkshakes and to feed Gene. I do however, like Astrid alternate 'over there' with her Asperger's Syndrome.

Toss in that they cast a new doe-eyed FBI agent and she could easily fill Astrid's shoes as far as research and intern like chores. That would explain why they needed to cast a new FBI agent too. I can easily see it being Astrid now.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I understand Darth , but it will weak the story line imo , there is alot of things without ending , talking about "soul energy" .. for Bell it was clear that his body wasn't stable and his soul didn't die , so he came back .

If any one can be brought back ... then why Walter didn't try to bring his son ? ..... even Barret couldn't bring the right soul/spirit for Amanda .

Any way am just telling my opinion no more , but they got my anger really !

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. I don't think there's a difference between energy and soul energy. The soul "is" energy, according to Walter and Bell.

    ReplyDelete
  77. It's unfortunate because she's still a character, important or not.

    ReplyDelete
  78. it cant be olivia b/c the show is starring Anna Torv
    mayb its alternate olivia!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. As always somehow there always ends up being a Olivia vs. Altlivia argument wherever I go. I LOVE THEM BOTH! WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG? :( It's probably niether Olivia. I cannot work out who it could be at all though.

    ReplyDelete
  80. & the show without walter & peter would be terrible

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh, wait maybe it turns out someone was already dead and have been for the whole of season 3 and only now pass over to heaven. Bell's soul seems too obvious. Hmmm...I don't know I'm just spouting ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Um... explain how someone's death is fun and entertaining, because i must've missed the memo o.O
I'm terrified of the outcome of this. If they kill off any of the leads, it will be devastating, not fun.

    ReplyDelete
  83. So they're going Sixth Sense on our faces? "HE'S BEEN DEAD THE WHOLE TIME"
    dundundun

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm with you as far as my optimism goes! I too think September may show us/them a possible future. If things move accordingly to facts A and B, the result is the death of "a character we love"
So there may be still hope, changing the present, prevents the fatal future.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I believe it may be Walter.
Remember the call sheet for a 14 year old Walter!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Remember September and his cryptic "He's still alive?" During Firefly. He was staring at either Peter or Walter. Remember the whole ordeal that September puts, to make Walter let Peter die? And now i'm thinking either Peter or Walter dies!

I can't believe nobody is pointing it out!

    ReplyDelete
  87. This just crossed my mind! Remember September and his cryptic "He's still alive?" During Firefly. He was staring at either Peter or Walter. Remember the whole ordeal that September puts, to make Walter let Peter die? And now i'm thinking either Peter or Walter dies!

I can't believe nobody is pointing it out!

    ReplyDelete
  88. oh man i bet it is what I though, Olivia dies, Peter goes back to the end of S2 and stops the switch!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ok guys please let's all take a collective deep breath. I personally think it will be Olivia but not for one second do I believe that it is a permanent thing. Most of us have seen the spoiler pics. My et is it is in the future. Never ever would Fauxlivia be able to replace Olivia and Peter's heart belongs to our Olivia. Let's not panic (as my heart is racing) I'm sure everything will be ok and we will all talk about what an awesome finale it was!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Broyles, the more I think of it. He's the only one without a double.

    ReplyDelete
  91. *...Maybe both Olivia's are going to get melt into one....*
    {Tjeez, that would be something.}

I don't like the idea that a "a deeply loved character" will die. Don't they know that it would actually get nasty? I mean a lot of fans would stop watchin' Fringe.
    Bye bye Fringe... {= mine doomsday scenario!}
Seriously: normally when a main character die it will kill the show and I bet Pinkner and the rest know what they are doing so.... *cough* I still have faith..

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think it's gonna be a Bishop for sure, but I think they are setting up Lincoln Lee on this side to take Peter's place on the Fringe Team.

    ReplyDelete
  93. When did he say that both worlds would survive?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yeah I realised it, maybe he was suprised when Olivia saved Peter, after he had drunk poisoned milk, September couldn´t predict it, as that situation with firefly, and when Walter wanted to drink it for the first time, September came, or any ideas?:)

    ReplyDelete
  95. I must also deeply profess my love for Brandonate...

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm thinking then that he would survive the convergence in other words single will survive as in they are apparently the destined survivors, doubles will on the other hand be up for grabs, depending on how they want to shape this theoretical convergence. See what I mean?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Actually, I do. And if that's true, Peter is safe as well, as he has no double :)
