7 Mar 2011

We'll have more details soon.

Warner Bros. Television released the following statement Monday: "After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services on "Two and a Half Men" effective immediately."

No idea what this means for the future of the show.

  1. In this case I think the series is done too then. Sheen made the show the all-time great that it was. The other characters are just not funny on their own... they mostly get laughs when playing off Charlie or Charlie playing off of them. Too bad...

  2. not to mention without Sheen, it'd be 'One and Half Men...'

  3. My answer would be No but I'm not completely on the 'he was treated unfairly' wagon. Yes Charlie was getting bad press (and maybe partying far too hard) but from what I've heard he was still showing up to work and doing his job. The studio's were making a fuss and in retaliation Charlie started his weird press tour. They probably should have waited until the series was over for the year and then went after him to go to rehab. I'm sure Charlie will be fine (financially at least), it's the crew that I feel sorriest for.

  4. I think the problem is that for most people, if they were caught
"doing coke" they would be fired from almost any other job
    immediately.

  5. You did the right thing, Warner Brothers. At the end of the day, you can't choose to support a toxic working environment over quick profits. It's a bad long-term business decision.

Today, Warner Brothers is #winning :)

  6. He's paid upwards of 1 million dollars to do a 22 minute sitcom. Other actors who work just as hard don't even make a fifth of what he does. Then he goes on his strange press tour, demanding 3 million because he's the centre of the universe. Since then, he has come across as nearly insane in every interview and tweet and strange web blog he has come up with. No matter how funny he is, or how central he is to the show, I can't believe that anyone would say that he has been treated unfairly. He has been given far more leeway than the average human being with addiction problems would be given. He deserved this.

  7. It's funny, I think you're right, but I have no care as to what the actors on series I like do off camera... none of my business. I don't get why anyone would... it's silly.

I hate small dogs and have stopped hanging out with friends that have them, but it wouldn't matter to me if an actor had one.

I don't watch series because I like the actors personally, I watch because I like the roles of the shows. If I got rid of every actor I disliked for something in their personal, lives I would have very little to watch.

  8. BTW sorry your Gunners couldn't capitalize more on the ManU loss....

  9. He'll schtill be Sheen... he just won't be Sheen on Shee-bee-esh anymore.

  10. Oh I totally agree, I could not give two hoots personally. I think the
thing here is that what his done is actually illegal which is where I
think a line has been drawn.

  11. Ha, I agree, although we're still 1 point closer than we were before
    the weekend :)

  12. Your small dogs analogy doesn't work at all.

  13. I pretty much agree he deserved this, but not on if he has been treated fairly or not. What CBS paid him or let him get away with prior to this is the status quo and not of his doing. When CBS changes the status quo and expects him to change... that is problematic if not unfair. If they dealt with him as he was for 8 years and did not say anything... they are as much at fault as he is.

ESPECIALLY Chuck Lorre and his title cards.... I forget who said it but "You don't poke crazy with a stick!" or as George Bluth said "You don't fire crazy... You never fire crazy!"

  14. Imagine if they had that view for every actor that did coke or illegal activities! IT is beyond naive to think that he is the only one doing coke or hookers.

It's like the Roman Polanski thing. I hate what he did to the girl, but if a movie of his sounds good... I am going to see it. I loved The Ninth Gate and Ghost Writer despite his personal act....

  15. Ah, that's a fair point. You're right, CBS hasn't done a very good job of handling this. He wasn't treated fairly, but he certainly had it coming!

  16. It's ironic that the very thing that made Sheen great in the role of Charlie Harper, his wild lifestyle, is the very thing that got him fired.

  17. Never really was a fan of the show, so I'm not bothered. Shame for the fans and the other people working on it though that one man dictated it.
I can't see it going on without him tbh...

  18. They should just cancle the show.Stupid trying to continue without him.A recast would go badly. And without him what would you do say he died off screen because of lifesstyle. No matter what this IS going badly. The best oporion Is canclation.

  19. They need to put his old paycheck into the The Big Bang Theory cast's pay - they deserve it for not being, y'know, coke heads and porn actress addicts. It's the only show Lorre and Co. have now!

  20. Oh, they were absolutely right! His behavior has been disreputable for decades. Acceptance of Sheen makes the whole studio and cast look bad. And I said the same thing about Mel Gibson being shut out of a movie during the height of his negative publicity. Studios should not be giving a wink and a nod to behavior that includes drug abuse, domestic abuse, and racist rants. The show has been on too long anyway.

  21. they also have mike and molly

  22. I seriously doubt they'll kill the series, because that could amount to them indirectly saying that he IS/WAS important to the show's success, thus proving any point he might make toward that end.

I see it as both a good decision, and a bad one. Bad, because certainly now going forward, his presence on the show would no doubt attract even more attention and viewers, which means more money for all concerned, and then greater success for fellow cast members and so forth. But, a good decision, because of the basic idea that bad behavior shouldn't be rewarded. So many people dream of reaching the place he was in, and they would prize that and would never want to do anything to endanger it. He seems to have no qualms about it -- so, too bad.

  23. looks like The Ma-Sheen is out of the game. We can't see him portray his everyday life in Two ½ Men anymore.

I still think they should go on without him to conclude the storyline at least in some way. Alan always cracks me up.

Maybe they should do a new start next season called TWO AND A HALF MEN: LIFE AFTER CHARLIE. Follows the lives of Jake and Alan after Charlie mysteriously implodes off-screen :D
Then Alan gets his house and Lyndsey and Eldridge move in.
I'd actually watch it, scenes with Jake and Eldridge are pretty funny. Two idiots are better than one, twice the fun :P
And after this one season is successful (if), then they rename it to TWO AND A HALF IDIOTS (with Alan being the Half since he has at least some brains in his head unlike J&E :D)

  24. I don't care about 2.5 Men or Charlie Sheen, although I do hope he gets help. However, I am glad that they fired him. Now if we can only get the media to move on. Sheen suddenly tops Lohan in the celebrity I wish would just shut up. However since I can't seem to get away for his self-destruction, I can pass along a link. Here is a link to the termination papers. Judge for yourself if the WB has a meritorious case.

  25. That show needs to be cancelled anyway. There's something wrong with this world when Two and a Half Men gets 8 seasons, while shows like Fringe have to struggle to even get a 4th season.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That even isn't the worst part. For me the worst thing is that a turd of a show like Jersey Shore gets better ratings.
For me this is one of the many indicators that the intelligence of a great part of the world's population is in rapid decline.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I totally agree. I'd rather watch paint dry than that Jersey Bore garbage. It sickens me to hear people I know talking about Jersey Shore and shows like it, but then they act like they've never even heard of Fringe or they just didn't care for Lost because "it didn't make sense". It sucks ass that those are the types of people who are responsible for ruining all the good shows. They are the ones giving crap like American Idol those numbers that give the networks a hard on.
