“Frontierland” (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

SAM AND DEAN RETURN TO THE WILD, WILD WEST — While searching for a way to defeat Eve, Dean stumbles upon Samuel Colt’s (guest star Sam Hennings) journal in the Campbell library. Realizing Samuel might have the answer to their problems, Sam and Dean ask Castiel (Misha Collins) to send them back in time so they can meet the man himself. While Sam is a bit reluctant to time travel, Dean is beside himself with excitement to return to the Wild, Wild West. Guy Bee directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin with story by Andrew Dabb, Daniel Loflin & Jackson Stewart (##617).

  1. WHY?!?Why did they switch the episodes?!?Why couldn't they show this one first?!?
    I WANT this episode!

  2. Man wish this was the first episode back from the hellatus.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Man, I am so looking forward to this! Makes sense after everything Colt accomplished (the gun, the devils trap etc.) that he just might have come across information on purgatory and Eve. I suppose if anyone had the journal, it would be Samuel. He didn't share much did he? Good thing they thought to go check out the compound and see what information he was hoarding all this time. Can't wait!!

  4. Been looking forward to this for a couple years now (since the rumored spin-off0.... it would have made the perfect return episode, but a week longer wait will not hurt too much I guess.

  5. me too!!!!!!!!! Im psyched for the one that comes before, just b/c i'm curious to see how they do it, and because it'll b the first new 1 in weeks, but I want this 1 so badly

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm confused. It's say this is for episode 18 but why at the end of the press, after Jackson Stewart, does it say 617. So is this for episode 18 or 17? :S

  7. I can't wait to see Dean fangirling over being a cowboy.

However, I expect that to be the only funny part of the rest of the season. It's gonna get DARK folks

    ReplyDelete
  8. It was the 17th ep they filmed, but the network switched the order so it will broadcast as ep 18.

    ReplyDelete
  9. That's the production number.

    It's Episode 6.18

  10. We can do dark. Really, Jilly, we can. As long as I can see Dean in a shootout, I'm good. I have a nightlight. :)

  11. I can't wait to see this episode, but I wonder why Sam is reluctant to time travel?

  12. They better have Classic Rock in this episode. Of course, it'll be probably awesome either way.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'd love to see the Campbell library. I wonder what else the will discover in there. There's the anti-vamp Jell-O shots, Alpha lore, and how to screw over your family manual. Perhaps he'll have the map to fairy land and tips on luring the Loch Ness Monster too. We could cover all of season 7 just by hunting down whatever Samuel had gotten into.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I wonder what classic rock sounded like in the old West. :-P More acoustic and less electric for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  15. And Dean gets to wear the sheriff's badge.
I think I might have a fangirl moment or two over that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oooh I think you're on to something there.
My guess is Grandpa didn't need a manual for screwing over his family - he was some kind of mutant and came by it naturally

    ReplyDelete
  17. ACDC unplugged anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  18. ....and the Phoenix they mentioned in the Paley Fest clip? I'm betting it's the name of one of the saloon girls....the one with yellow teeth....and a nasty rash....

    ReplyDelete
  19. It just hurts in a way to see that 2 episodes are so self-contained that they are able to be arbitrarily exchanged... I don't like that, not at all.

    ReplyDelete
  20. How much do you guys wanna bet that the Campbell library will be much more useful than the Campbells themselves??It makes sense now..They introduced the Campbells, just so the boys could use their library! So obvious... ; )

    ReplyDelete
  21. It would be nice to think they were useful for something other than adding to the SPN assbutt dead toll

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah,it would!
I don't know, maybe there will be an explanation later on..Until now,the only Campbell scene that managed to spark my interest was Gwen's death! That was a shocking scene,I liked it...

  23. Dark is cool besides we have Sam on a horse and treading in horse shit!

    ReplyDelete
  24. WHY WHY WHY DID THEY SWITCH THE EPISODES!!!!! It's just cruel! I don't care about the Titantic, I want Stetsons!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Didn't they switch Family Matters and You Can't Handle the Truth too? I seem to remember something like that waaaay back then.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe production wise they had to film Frontierland before they filmed My Heart Will Go On. Maybe they could only get the Wild West Lot during certain dates. So they had to film it before.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jon Bon Jovi. He did an entire 'western' soundtrack for Young Guns. And as Dean says, Bon Jovi rocks -- on occasion. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. They've done it before and had no weird things happening before they were supposed to, so I'm gonna assume they have it covered. I doubt even the network could switch episodes if there were things in a timeline that couldn't be switched.

    ReplyDelete
  29. no it was You Cant Handle The Truth and Live Free they swapped

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good theory, but they had to film Weekend at Bobby's first and it's still (as far as I know) listed as episode #604, so who knows how they do things in Hollyweird?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Knew it was something like that...:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree: dark is cool.

I wondered if it was real horse shit or fake horse shit.
And how many takes they did.

See what being without new episodes does to me.......I mean...really - who cares? Me obviously......because it's IMPORTANT.......wait......no it isn't.....

  33. Dean as a cowboy is a dream come true for me too. Jillyanne wouldn't he be "fanboy" about being a cowboy, I'm definitely fangirling about him with a stetson guns and spurs. My fantasies will almost be complete.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dean's not the only one who will be fangirling about the Wild, Wild West ;) I love westerns! I can't wait to see Supernatural tackle the genre, Jared and Jensen were born to play the parts.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Even at its darkest they'll still cram some jokes in there. So, no big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That's bordering on sacrilege.

    ReplyDelete
  37. TV shows don't always air in the order that they're produced. This sort of thing is very common. It was most likely scheduled this way all along.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It does not bode well for Eve being super-evil in either episode and we need to see her as super-evil to get the dramatic punch when they take her down.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't think it would be that hard to be more useful than the Campbells. Heck, if there is an unused coupon for a bacon cheeseburger tucked in a book, it would be more useful than the silent one whose name I can't remember now. And a lot more appealing than Grandpa Creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, to me the word fanboy doesn't really have the same punch. I do know what you mean but ....nah.... And I'm not implying that I think Dean (or Jensen) is gay.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hee hee I just knew someone would bite. Sorry but hiatus makes me positively evil.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh I didn't think you were implying that he was gay . I guess I didn't realize "fangirl was non-gender specific. I'm still learning the fandom language.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jon Bon Jovi rocks the country vibe very nicely. Now Elvis did some nice country music... He he he... Just jokin!

    ReplyDelete
  44. 'Fangirl' was my word for it - don't know if anyone else would've used it there. And I know you wouldn't have thought I was implying 'gayness' - I was just being clear in case anyone else thought I was... :)

  45. The show likely switched episodes because April 15 when the show returns is the 99th aniversary of the date the Titantic actually sank. It could also possibly be because SV/SPN's winter premieres were bumped a week; if both shows returned on April 8, Frontierland could been aired that Friday followed on the 15th by MHWGO right on schedule. *Glares at CW*

  46. I am comforted knowing that I am not the only one jonesing for this western. Or any other new SPN ep.It is such a horrible thing they are doing, tormenting us so with this particular show. I love me a good sexy cowboy and darn if we are not going to have us TWO. I have pacified myself this long with revisiting past seasons and I'm near the end of my tether of Winchester absence.

And though I won't nastily bash the Cambell's, they truely are the bad blood of them there boys' lineage, good riddance to them.Grampa was a dick the first time I saw him, and the second and third and well you get the pic.Hopefully something useful will come their(the Cambell's) past

  47. And they always have alittle humour sprinkled in amongst the dark emo/angst stuff. like stars in the dark night sky. But then again I love the Dark... it suits my chained '''dark passenger"

    ReplyDelete
  48. (Expression of disblief) Who would ever think that you would imply such a thing... silly folks???? but they can't read, can they? hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh good grief... please no stuff like "Home on the Range" or "Yellow Rose of Texas"

    ReplyDelete
  50. You have delicious sarcasm, witty as a double edged sword is sharp.I GOT IT!!! You're a smart ass like Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've been thinking it has to do with the week bump too actually. I know a lot about the Titanic's history so when I heard episode about Titanic in conjunction with April, SPN loves to air episodes on important dates just to make awesome comments relating to reality. With the week bump there may have been a comment in the episode that required the switch so that My heart will go on would still air on the 15th.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am just glad we're getting it at all. It's going to be fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  53. It sounds like Dean's child-like excitement is finally making a long overdue return to SPN!

    ReplyDelete
  54. That explanation makes most sense to me. Hopefully the storyline swap (Frontierland/MHWGO) will make sense, too, and any critical info that was to be learned in Frontierland won't be needed in MHWGO. I wouldn't think so. Cas is supposed to send the boys back in time in 6.18 so unless Cas is behaving "oddly" in 6.18 there will be Cas-behavior continuity in 6.17. Now the reverse might not be true - if Cas behaves "oddly" in 6.17, that was formerly 6.18, than it will be "odd" if Cas behaves more normally, edgy but very and naturally concerned about fighting a war on two fronts - Raphael in Heaven and the MOAM on earth in the new 6.18.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Aww..that's the best compliment ever. No sarcasm intended. Now when do I get my own Impala?

    ReplyDelete
  56. And definitely no cowboy dies a hero while his girl/the town laments songs.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I couldnt agree more, I hope this episode lives up to the hype :)
