SAM AND DEAN TEMPT FATE — After Balthazar (guest star Sebastian Roche) changes history and keeps the Titanic from sinking, Fate (guest star Katie Walder) intervenes and begins killing those that would have died on the ship. Castiel (Misha Collins) tells Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) that Fate is very upset with the two of them and the only way they can stay alive is to kill her. Mike Rohl directed the episode written by Bret Matthews (618).

LOL, killing Fate. Good luck on that!
ReplyDeleteCan you actually kill Fate? Another good question. Is this self defense? Or, is it murder?
ReplyDeleteGood God, kill fate? Why do they have to effing kill everyone!?
ReplyDeleteHaven't you heard? These guys killed the devil. Fate should be a piece of cake.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who's not a fan of this episode's premise. Every other episode where angels have meddled with the past, they've been unable to change anything (and in fact actually caused events from the past to come to pass like John buying the Impala and Mary using the "angels are watching over you" thing when she tells child Dean goodnight). So why is Balthazar suddenly able to change things?
ReplyDeleteAlso, why can't some other angel just change things back? Why can't Fate specifically change things back rather than having to kill off everyone? And where does Fate stack up in the hierarchy if God and Death are supposed to be the two most powerful beings in the universe? Wouldn't Fate control who Death reaps? Yet we haven't even heard of her before this episode...
Um, they didn't actually 'kill' the devil they just put him in a box. And if they did kill Fate wouldn't another one just pop up after her...like a slayer if one is kill another is put in her place. I know I'm mixing Buffy and SPN logic here but ...yeah
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question about God and Death's hierarchy. It's been established that God doesn't give a shit and Death ha already told Dean that he's not going to give his assistance anymore because he 's enjoying the body count that they raise and how much they're messing with things in that area...and Yes, Fate to a point does control who Death reaps but Fate is more of a destiny type person if you will...and I'm sure there are a lot things they haven't talked about that will show up in the future.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the 'meddling with the past bit' I think what they're trying to get is that everything happens for a reason and certain things are suppose to happen. Like Dean going back in time to point John to the impala, if you remember he almost bought the van. And with the Titanic those people where supposed to die because of their deaths certain things happened and were set into motion and their might be an explainable reason as to why they don't just snap their fingers for the Titanic to actually sink...or if they did that their wouldn't be a plot for the episode.
I hope this helped.
So I guess fate is still p****d off that the Winchester boys screwed her over by not saying yes to both Mike and Luci, as they were destined to. And she obviously holds a grudge. Nasty.
ReplyDeleteWhy has she waited till now for payback?
And does Cas have an interest in seeing Fate bite it?
They originally thought they might have to kill Death to get his horseman's ring, but they didn't. Maybe they won't have to kill Fate either?
So many questions.......
And someone needs to stop Balthazar from being such an irresponsible dickbag angel before he causes even more trouble. He reminds me of a teenager let loose with a fake ID and Dad's car.
I'm right there with you, this episode description just did not entice me at all. Possibly because I haven't been a fan of the angel episodes this season (The Third Man and the Balthazar/Raphael portions of The French Mistake).
ReplyDeleteSounds great but killing Fate? I hope they find a better solution than killing all the Gods by a stuipid angel. Stupid question but why doesn't Castiel go back in time as well and lets the Titantic sink? I don't see why Balthazar's behavior makes Fate angry with Sam and Dean. Sure, they mess with fate and don't stay dead but shouldn't she be after Balthazar?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I hope the writers can come up with something just as good. But I have my doubts, maybe it's gonna be the same as with the Gods, an archangel can kill other Gods, so the angelic weapons can kill the personifaction of Fate.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious how they're gonna do it. Maybe the Colt can't shoot the devil but you can kill Fate with it. Lol I hate the 'kill Fate part' already.
ReplyDeleteI'm not happy about Fate's sudden appearance. I really hope they bothered to make her fit into the overall storyline of the show. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI think Fate is more angry about them not staying dead. Lol
ReplyDeleteI think the CW people got the director and writer wrong. Mike Rohl and Bret Mathews did episode 16.
ReplyDeleteIt might be Balthy who's lying to them. It's him who tells them that she's angry with them and they have to kill her. Would fit with his personality to lie to them in order to save his own skin.
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense if Balthazar is trying to double-cross them but in the summary it says 'Castiel'....So I think Fate really is upset and trying to kill them, I just don't understand what it go to with the Titantic incident in this episode. Maybe Fate decides to go on a killing spree to kill everybody who is supposed to be dead aka Sam and Dean. She could assume that the Winchesters and Balthy are friends and because he's hiding from her, she decides to go after Sam and Dean to draw him out.
ReplyDeleteKill Fate? I'm not sure about that. I have a feeling this will be another one of those episodes where Sam and Dean are basically given the run around for 40 minutes, made to look stupid before an angel swoops in and saves the day. Hence the reason the angels have got to go, they'e making the Winchesters completely redundant-I mean who actually believes that the boys need to be the ones to do anything when an angel can just come down and poof all their troubles away? I hope when Kripke says they're wrapping the angel civil war before seasons end means no angels in season 7.
ReplyDeleteI do believe the Colt is missing. Hence the reason for the western episode-the boys go back in time to find the Colt.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you. Why the hell now? What, thwarting the apocalypse sent her over the edge? And yeah, what is Cas' part in all of this?
ReplyDeleteOmg i cant wait to see what the show has in store for us i mean i am in love with the Titanic movie ,so hope we get cool affects and that. I know alot of people are not looking froward to this with good reason how can you kill fate but keep in mind Supernatural is good at twisting things like how they do episodes like"Faith" and that is copying the X Files but they put there own spin on it and all these other things such as "Dream a Little Dream of Me" copying Freddy and episodes like "Mystery Spot" copying Groundhog Day also "In the Beginning" is like Back to the future also The Song Remains the Same" is copying The terminator when Anna phones John and changes her voice ans that happens in the terminator. I know Supernatural can have bad Epoised's like every other show but this sounds interesting as how are they going to kill death ? If you kill death you kill the natural order .
ReplyDeleteWow, this is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThis has the potential to mess so many things up...I hope they find a way to have it make sense within the show. Because it sounds like it could be really great.
ReplyDelete(And kill Fate? Again, I hope the writers thought and developed everything thoroughly)
??? Okay cas is acting weird lol. I DONT LIKE THIS! NOT AT ALL! Maybe I'm paranoid but every little info i get = castiel dying
ReplyDeleteWouldn't those people on the ship have been dead already? Titanic sunk in 1912. A baby that was under a year old would be 99 (well 100 because of the year time jump) Does that mean the people that didn't die ended up living 100 more years. Because I doubt she is going back to 1910's to kill them. Does that mean if you cheat your Fate you can live forever or something?
ReplyDeleteThey'll probably have a good explanation but this summary makes it seem all the people that didn't die have lived for a 100 more years
Not sure Death ever said that. The only thing he said was that Dean and Sam keep coming back and are an affront to the balance of the universe and cause distruption on a global scale, but Dean had use as he was digging at something with the souls and to keep digging and he would understand when he needed to.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for God not caring, some people think that reflection off the Impala was God helping Sam. Especially after what Castiel said to Dean in the Impala.
I guess they've moved on from "Screw Destiny" to "Kill Destiny". Awesome.
ReplyDeleteWhat reflection off the impala?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is he doesn't die in the literal sense of the word dying, I actually think he'll take the Fall at the end of the season so no more angel Castiel. Jared did talk about the deaths as not really being deaths but more like new beginnings.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a big fat lie by Castiel. Fate and Death aren't the same thing. I can see why death would be pissed at the boys but who's to say everything that's happened to Sam and Dean ISN'T their fate? It has even been hinted at that God has intervened on their behalf on occasion. How is that NOT fate?
ReplyDeleteI still think Cas has an agenda and he's not being straight with the Winchesters.
OMG THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME! well okay: me myself and I believ that IT IS AWESOME if cas would become humancas and STAY ON THE FREAKEN SHOW. but I do believe it would piss off a lot of poeple. .. so lets think about it. hum.. NOPE I LOVE it.
ReplyDeletelol. Okay thanks even if this is not true I at least have a reason to not panick, it helps.
And here it is in Sam's eye
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this, my first reaction was why does Cas want Fate dead and not why does Fate want the Winchesters dead. My second question was Fate really want them dead at all or is this some heaven civil war thing again. Sorry but I do not trust Cas this season.
ReplyDeleteBut I am happy to have my computer back again. I was going through serious withdrawal.
My point was that it's not all that far-fetched that they're going after Fate. After all that the boys have seen and done, it seems natural that they're going after more Big Bads than monsters that go bump in the night...
ReplyDeleteAgreed. In fact, I hope they spend the last episodes wrapping up all things angels and then deal with Eve in season 7 so she has time to be the Big Bad they want her to be. Unfortunately it seems like they are going to try to get all loose ends in the last 6 episodes, which is why it seems to crowded to throw a Titanic jab episode in.
ReplyDeleteI actually wouldn't like Cas to become human, because the Winchesters really need an insider into the war going on upstairs. It always helps to have a little divine help once in a while, and as far as I know, now that Gabriel's gone Castiel is the Winchster's only angel ally.
ReplyDeleteShe'll probably end up killing their descendants, because they wouldn't have existed had their grandparents or whatever died on the Titanic.
ReplyDelete:D Yeah as long as he stays I couldnt care less. I WANT CASTIEL ON THIS SHOW! Need him! NEED!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'ld love him as an human cause he was great in s5 and that was close to human in the end there. (not THE END... the end of the season.... any way.. lol) But I guess it would be boring to have 4 winchester (cause bobby is 3rd already) BUT I JUST.... AW! *breaks down* PLEASE DONT KILL MY BABY KRIPKE! PLEASE GOD! PLEASE
But then again, she IS fate, why couldn't she kill them right after Blathazar screwed up history? I doubt that she would be constrained by time...there is just so many things to consider here I really hope that they have thought this through!
ReplyDeleteCas is acting so shady this season....I don't really want to think this, but I do think that this finale may see the death (like, full on actual death) of Castiel, period. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but I think they really need to wrap up the Angel storyline and the only real way to do that is to get rid of Cas.
ReplyDeleteUnless they can find a way to make him work again (as a human or an angel).
lol I love Balthazar. Didn't like the history and simply changes it, how awesome is that? seriously, I already love him much more than I ever did Gabriel. If they get rid of angels after this season, I will have such a hard time dealing with loosing two great characters Cas and Balty are.
ReplyDeleteThey wont need an insider to happenings upstairs, the angel civil war is being wrapped by the end of this season.
ReplyDeleteFate will probably go back in time but only after she makes the Winchesters see how they affected everything by avoiding their fate or destiny. The war in heaven and Eve's rise from Purgatory was a domino effect.
ReplyDeleteFate is a triple Goddess, Clotho spun out your lifes thread, Lachesis measured out the years, and Atropos cut the thread which ended your life.
ReplyDeleteCannot wait for this one! Now, if only April 15 would get here just a little bit faster!
ReplyDeleteWhat reflection off the impala?
