Save No Ordinary Family Campaign

6 Mar 2011

Thanks to Brian for the following.

I'm sending this to let you know that we have prepared a campaign to save ABC's No Ordinary Family. It is a campaign that I organized with a few other fans and we are spreading the word about it. This is why I'm sending you the news of this; in hopes that you can help us to spread the word. We are planning to send in snack bars that are either Nut Medley or Vanilla Bean because they are a few of Stephanie Powell's favourite snack bars that she likes to eat and take with her on the go. We are going to send these in with letters to ABC to ask them not to cancel No Ordinary Family and to renew it for a second season. I posted the link for our campaign in the source/link section for you to check out.

  1. This concept has been overdone. Okay, the first time they did it was an awesome idea, but everytime they do it since then its being getting less and less effective.

  2. Exactly. It works when it's original and presumably spontaneous (peanuts for "Jericho"). As soon as it becomes the "thing to do", it tends to fall on deaf ears.

  3. It's still worth a shot...ABC don't know how much this show is loved! & they should!

  4. Put it this way, if they came up with something more original, in my opinion, it would be way more effective.

  5. If people want to save their favorite shows, they should focus on getting more people to actually watch shows. Fans of good TV need to send a message to "reality" show fans. We need to bring down the numbers on these cheap, ignorant, profitable shows like Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, Jersey Shore, and all that other garbage. These shows are way more important to the networks, it seems, than scifi, drama, mystery, and comedy. When it comes down to what they want, it's simple: money/ratings. Sending nuts/candy/letters won't work anymore. We need to focus on TV viewers instead. Get more people to choose to watch good shows, and forget the "reality" shows. We need to let advertisers know, we will gladly take a little more product placement, if they can help pay for our shows. The "reality" shows should be the ones watched online, or recorded and watched later. Dramas, comedies, scifi/fantasy, and other genres of GOOD TV are what belongs on TV.

  6. Keep N.O.F. on the air, the show is AWESOME!

  7. Ugh, not every show deserves a SOS campaign. If you want the show to continue, you must find a way to get it to be worth saving: aka get more viewers. At this point, it's beyond saving for its ratings (it's getting like a 1.1-1.3) so, unless you can get people to show up, you should just be happy they haven't cancelled it already (like NBC did to the Cape, for example.)

  8. I know it's sort of a generic 'Save Our Show' campaign and lots of others have done it, but its worth a shot. If anyone can think up any other way of saving the show, why not suggest it? Right now, it's on a terrible time slot. I wish ABC would change it to a different night when it isn't up against Glee or NCIS.

  9. I said before the pilot show aired that this show, no matter how good it is, will fail because of the time slot in which they were placed. Admittedly, the show got off to a slow start, but in my opinion, gradually offered better plots, better subtext and better acting. The characters, all but the Powell's, needed more definition and exposure. Personally, I guessed for 7 weeks as to Dr. King's involvement and to this day really don't quite understand it, but I'm told the finale will answer all questions. I suppose if it's cancelled they will eliminate the cliff hanger. Respectfully, I do enjoy the show very very much and would like nothing better than to talk to ABC and it's affiliates and assure them that the ad dollars would be plentiful if they left the show to air in either a different time slot, or different night. I'm not sure the candy and nuts are going to change their tune, nor do I believe letters will help, unless they were inundated with, mm let's say a million, but even more might do it. Viewers, viewers, viewers. That's the ticket. Concentrate on drawing in a plethora of new people to get those ratings up. I think, unfortunately, that will be the deciding factor, although only God knows why ABC doesn't understand that it's not the show that's failing, it's the viwers watching NCIIS & Glee. Come on now, even my ten year old grandson can figure that out. Move them out.... not OFF!!

  10. I really like No Ordinary Family, it's refreshing and funny, I love the characters (the guest stars) and it always keeps me waiting for the next episode. Would be a sad if they'll cancel it so soon... but I don't think that any campaign can save the show... unfortunately.

  12. No Ordinary Family is such a great show! Amazing actors, fun story-line. So good!! Bring it back!!! Millions of viewers want a second season. Millions!! Is that not good?
