And while The Event is struggling & The Chicago Code is slipping a little bit (but fortunately it's still better than Lie to Me), there's still 9 million zombies watching endless reruns of Two and a Half Men.
As painful as it is to say, I'm not really a Chuck fan anymore. I still like to watch the show, sure, but there's no more passion, there's some sort of routine with this show for a little while now. The 4th season has very enjoyable moments and great episodes but isn't really 'fresh', even if it's better than season 3, which was a real disappointment. The first 2 seasons, on the other hand, were magical, and Chuck never really got back to the same level of quality after "chuck me".
I was a lot more afraid of Chuck's cancellation after its perfect 2nd season back in May 2009. The season two finale aired on April 27th, I had caught up the first 2 seasons in a week in late April (the whole 2nd season in 2 days !) and I couldn't wait to hear whether the show was renewed or cancelled before watching the 2-3 final episodes (nothing more frustrating than expecting something more and then just hear that actually was the end). I was so glad when NBC renewed it for a 3rd season a few days after I finished my Chuck marathon. Good old days.
But I will watch this show until the very end, so I want a 5th season of 22 episodes announced as the final season, just to be sure to have some closure. I think a hundred episodes is enough, the show isn't as fresh, innovative and funny so a final run would be just fine.
Chuck has really lost its luster this season. It's unbelievable how poorly written and lackluster its action and budget are in this season. After three great seasons, I think it's time to call it a day.
I don't agree. I love this season. It may not bet the best, but the show really deserves a new season. It's better than a gazillion shows out there, like procedurals. I would take Chuck over crap like CSI any day.
Chuck-cancelled The Event-cancelled Harry's Law-likely renewal but should be cancelled Mad Love-cancelled The Chicago Code-cancelled Everything else-renewed including Two and Half Men
I tots agree with u bout the poorly written part but canceling chuck isn't a very gud decision. This season is ok so far because of the lackkk of CHARAH and moi is RLLY disappointed on that. I mean the fact that sarah has a serious face on in EACH epi is vry disapointing to me and prob some fans out there. Don't you just want a mission- free Chuck epi for oonce????Each Monday I look forward to seeing a sexy scene between CHARAH, but don't get me wrong I Chuck has ALOt of funny scenes this season but I just want more of Charah scenes and less missiions. Half of the viewers on Chuck are either watching it because of Charah or jeffster ( and their hilarious scenes) but if the creators want to bump up the ratings then have more CHARAH scenes or whatever but I just do not want to see another epi with a serious sarah or the lack of CHARAH scenes. Also when CHARAH finally got together in s 3 the ratings went UP not DOWN and believe me this is prob (and im not saying that its true) why the ratings are DOWN.
You're kidding, I've been thinking this season has been too much Charah not to mention the annoying Buymore subplot. Admittedly this season hasn't been as 'magical' in a sense that the first two seasons had and I even enjoyed season 3. Good luck for a fifth season.
NBC has canceled The Cape, Undercovers, will probably cancel The Event and Chase. I can't see they canceling Chuck yet. It's not the best ratings, but at least they're steady. Unless they pick all the new pilots, which I can't see happening. Damn, NBC is a mess, to be direct. Let's hope syndication and all the other cancellations help Chuck.
NBC picked up quite a few new series last season but IMO didn't use them very well schedule wise nor did they pick up quality shows. This seasons developmental slate is much better.
NEW SHOWS 2010/2011 SEASON-8 DRAMAS, 3 COMEDIES -Harry's Law ( started with poor ratings but decent for NBC-dropping) -Undercovers (cancelled) -The Event (will be cancelled) -Chase (cancelled) -Perfect Couples (will be cancelled) -Outlaw (cancelled) -The Cape (cancelled) -Outsourced (likely to be cancelled) -Law & Order:LA (undetermined until return) -Love Bites (never aired/cast moved on) -Friends With Benefits (never aired/cast moved on)
Look at the schedule as it is now and fill the gaps (ridding them of all low rated shows and only keeping in the already renewed or high rated/no chance of it not being renewed)-It works out at 8 hours of air time to fill (ignoring the prospect of scripted shows on Friday)

Yeah.. as much as I love Chuck, the chances of it staying around, I figured, really hinged on it staying steady. Well that was back when it was still getting a 1.7/1.8.. it's down to a 1.5 now and slipping every week. =( I used to be cautiously optimistic, but now.. unless they get quite a few more viewers, I don't see it surviving. I'm going to just enjoy Chuck as much as I can while we have it.
I agree and disagree with some of what youve said. Dont get me wrong, I have loved the whole Charah thing, but what i loved most about this show was its ability to combine action with comedy. I loved how each character has developed and how Casey is being part of the team again.
Personally i dont need more Charah scenes, i love how subtle actions such as holding hands at the end of that last epi showed a whole new side to their relationship and how looks to each other can speak a thousand words.
I thought season 2 has been the best, however would still love a season 5 to wrap the whole show up. The writing has been somewhat disappointing and non-continious in its ability to fully entertain. But im to dedicated to the show to not tune in and watch. I still find reasons to watch and hopfully all the other fans will find theres.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Chuck needs a season 5, please! I hope the prospect of syndication helps.
ReplyDeleteJust as i feared DWTS really hurt Chuck PLEASE WATCH WE NEED A SEASON 5
ReplyDeleteomg, first fringe now chuck... you can't take away from me. either of them.
ReplyDeleteAnd while The Event is struggling & The Chicago Code is slipping a little bit (but fortunately it's still better than Lie to Me), there's still 9 million zombies watching endless reruns of Two and a Half Men.

ReplyDeleteAnd this is coming from a die-hard fan of Chuck.

ReplyDelete*stands up and applauds*
They're literally zombies.

ReplyDeleteMy predictions for Monday-
ReplyDeleteChuck-cancelled
The Event-cancelled
Harry's Law-likely renewal but should be cancelled
Mad Love-cancelled
The Chicago Code-cancelled
Everything else-renewed including Two and Half Men
Its not personal just ratings based
Pretty much agree.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that "may" save chuck is the amount of cancelled NBC
shows, but it's not looking good.
In your opinion, do you think House ratings have gone down due to the show's storyline?
ReplyDeleteIt's impossible to say, I'm in the UK and I'm 1 season behind.
