________
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was an easy overnight Monday victory for ABC with a full night of The Bachelor besting the No. 2 network, Fox, by a hefty 3.1 rating points. Third overall was CBS, which excluding Mad Love was in all repeats, followed by NBC and a night of encores on The CW.
The season-finale of The Bachelor scored a very dominant 9.0 rating/14 share in the metered markets, building by half-hour as follows:
The Bachelor (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 8.3/13 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 8.7/13 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 9.1/14 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 10.1/15 (#1)
Comparably, this was right on par with the year-ago season-finale of The Bachelor (9.2/14 on Monday, March 2, 2009), which translated into 15.48 million viewers and a 5.4 rating/13 share among adults 18-49. At 10 p.m. on ABC was special The Bachelor: After the Final Rose at a dominant 9.0/14 in the overnights. Coming up on ABC next Monday is the season-premiere of Dancing with the Stars.
Fox had a typical Monday care of House, which finished second at 8 p.m. with a very respectable 7.0/11 in the overnights at 8 p.m., followed by freshman crime solver The Chicago Code at a third-place 5.0/ 7 at 9 p.m. Comparably, retention for The Chicago Code out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of House (7.2/11) was 69 percent. If Fox has to choose between The Chicago Code and former occupant Lie to Me for next season, my guess is it will pick the younger Chicago Code. Stay tuned.
Repeat riddled CBS had nothing unusual to report with its combination of an encore telecast of already renewed How I Met Your Mother (#3: 4.2/ 7), an original episode of recently introduced Mad Love (#3: 4.5/ 7), and repeats of Two and a Half Men (#2: 6.7/10), Mike & Molly (#2: 5.6/ 8) and Hawaii Five-O (#3: 5.0/ 8) from 9-11 p.m. Minus the original lead-in support, week five of Mad Love dipped to a series low. Five-week overnight track for Mad Love: 5.8/ 9 -- 5.3/ 8 -- 5.1/ 8 – 4.9/ 7 – 4.5/ 7. As for Two and a Half Men, yes…there is still an audience despite all the recent Charlie Sheen mishegoss.
NBC remained out of the competitive loop from 8-10 p.m. with its combination of Chuck (#4: 3.3/ 5) and The Event (#4: 3.2/ 5). But older-skewing Harry’s Law continues to earn its keep with a second-place 7.2/12 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Comparably, Harry’s Law built from the 9:30 p.m. portion of The Event (3.2/ 5) by a whopping 125 percent, which earns it a spot on the “winner’s” listing. As expected, taking already on the fence freshman drama The Event off the air for three months was not beneficial.
Last, and very least, were The CW’s serialized 90210 (0.6/ 1) and Gossip Girl (0.5/ 1), which never resonate in non-originals.

Good bye The Event. I won't miss at all.
ReplyDeleteAfter last Night we can safely say The Event IS a goner. It's only shot at another season was to beat Chuck's numbers. It didn't.At end of season my days of watching NBC are gone.
ReplyDeleteI want to like The Event, and for that matter this season of Chuck as well. But The Event has already sealed its fate in my opinion, and all i'm hoping for is some closure, hopefully the shows creators see the writing on the wall, before it too late to tie up loose ends. As for Chuck, I have gotten bored with the storyline this season. Granted I like that Chuck and Sarah are getting hitched, but it was so much better when Chuck was trying to prove himself to her, just my opinion. I did like last nights episode of Chuck though, I had missed two or three episodes before it.
ReplyDeleteoh my g.
ReplyDeletethat is way too low for gg. :o
The Event is really getting better. But for the first time ever I have to agree with this dude, taking the show off the air for three months wasn't a good move.
ReplyDeleteThe Event IS great In Quality, and I will be watching It till It ends In May.The long hituas didn't help.Long hituas never help shows.
