Question of the Day - Which Summer Shows are you looking forward to??

15 Mar 2011

Today's Question of the Day comes from Julie who asks

"Which Summer Shows are you looking forward to?"

Great questions, and there are so many! Let me list a few and then I'll tell you my favourite.

Returning Shows
Burn Notice, Eureka, Leverage, True Blood, United Stats of Tara, Rizzoli and Isles, The Borgias, Game of Thrones (not technically summer I guess)

But I think the one that I'm really looking forward to is Falling Skies.

"
FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.
"

So what about you? Which Returning shows are you looking forward to and which new ones will you be checking out?

  1. How To Make It In America, Rescue Me, Damages, Breaking Bad

and probably more that I can't think of now

  2. The Borgias and Game of Thrones, hands down. I don't generally watch many a lot of "summer" shows, but these two will definitely go on my to-watch list.

  3. Burn Notice and Eureka for me

  4. The Borgais, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones (if that counts I guess Nurse Jackie does too?), True Blood, The Killing, Falling Skies

  5. You've convinced me. Falling Skies looks very interesting, in a V kind of way, and besides it has Dr. John Carter. I will check into it. I haven't been watching any of the returning shows on your list and I don't want to get into them late. I guess most of my summer viewing will be DVDs. I will finish The Wire and then rent or buy Breaking Bad, which I've yet to see but want to, so I'll be caught up for the next season.

  8. Question, Rescue Me, what or not?
I think Andrea Roth is awesome, and everything, but I watched an episode on english tv, and (it was ages ago can't really remember) the film quality was awful, like 1950's quality? That really annoys me, but still, watch or not? :)

  14. They have been planning to have the series finale of Rescue Me near September 11, 2011 for the 10th anniversary as an homage. So I think they will star in July.

  15. Yeah, it was the one with Andrea Roth on the FX Network, really surprised me because the quality was shocking, but I'd always wanted to check it out.

  16. Pretty Little Liars, The Big C, Hawthorne, Melissa and Joey, Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, and The Lying Game.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Does that mean I should watch? Or is that a no?

  18. I think it is not for everyone. Try some of season 1 and see if you like it. I have friends that started and loved it, others could not get into it and the rest started but stopped after a few years. So I would say watch.... but from the beginning,

I personally like the series a lot. I think the quality is even to many HD series, but it does have that gritty feel like many FX series. The first 3 seasons are awesome and then like many shows it drops off a notch, but is still very good. This ending was their plan since they started the series and they used last year to help set up the final season. Everything should be worked out nicely and not some open-ended cancellation.

  22. I agree, you can't really compare it to anything. It's a pretty unique show with an asshole as main character. The fire department is pretty much subsidiary but a lot of storylines tie in to it ofc.

I also have to agree that the first 3 or 4 seasons were much better than the last two, but the end of season 5 was one of the best I've ever seen in a show.

  23. Okay, I love pretty much everything on FX so I will watch it, I really don't know what I was watching, it had the main plot points and everything, and I'm sure it was Rescue Me, but it was just the worst quality show I'd ever seen, but it was strange, I don't know what I was watching :L, I'll give it ago, I have a long holiday this year, it will be very uneventful now I think :L

  24. True Blood, Leverage, Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones, Falling Skies, The Glades and Rookie Blue.

  25. IF you try to jump into the middle of the series it is VERY confusing. You need to understand the series and its quirks by watching it from the beginning or it just comes off as a mess. It is not so serialized that you could not pick up the plot, but you would miss the inside jokes and the tone.

I have a good friend that watched it on accident midway through Season Four and thought it sucked and was too bizarre to her... just did not make sense. Then I loaned her Season One and now she likes the series and is still watching3 years later..

  26. Rizzoli & Isles, Warehouse 13, Rookie Blue, Drop Dead Diva

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, I'll go back to the beginning, literally my favourite passtime anyway, so it should be good.
And sarcasm is always a winner.
