Today's Question of the Day comes from Evie who asks
"Which Network has the most promising Pilots?"
Interesting question.
First up you should check out Adam's Pilot Season Prediction Competition to not only see the Pilots that are coming from each network but also to enter into the fun little game, and maybe win a prize.
Now back to the question. There are only a few Pilot shows that have so far grabbed my interest, and I'll list those below.
Over at ABC we have Damage Control, Hallelujah, Once Upon A Time, Poe
CBS we have Person of Interest.
CW we have Secret Circle
FOX we have Alcatraz, Exit Stragegy, Touch
NBC we have 17th Precinct, Grimm, Prime Suspect, REM
So for me, I think FOX just does it as Alcatraz is the one out of all of them that I'm looking forward to the most, followed closely by Person of Interest at CBS.
So what about you, which network and show are you most looking forward to and why. Sound off in the comments and vote in the poll below.
And please keep submitting your Questions of the Day Below using the form.
You can see previous Questions of the Day here.

I choose FOX as the those shows sound like they have the potential to be as Epic as LOST, Prison Break, 24 ect. :)
ReplyDeleteFOX followed by NBC
ReplyDeleteNOTCW.
ReplyDeleteThat's my answer.
Fox and ABC. From your list above, I'm looking forward most to Alcatraz, Hallelujah, Once Upon A Time, Poe (that looks really interesting!), and REM on NBC,
ReplyDeleteI'm going with FOX but at the same time I'm still incredibly skeptic because yes FOX has had amazing shows that do well like Lost, but at the same they have a HUGE cancel rate for equally amazing shows that they don't give a chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I'm looking forward to a certain station's pilots, but I do like a few - Alcatraz, Once Upon A Time, etc. (Especially now that Jen Morrison is involved in the last one.)
ReplyDeleteI hope most of these Fox pilots fail because then it's good for Fringe. It's a terrible thing to say, but i dont care 1 <3 fringe.
ReplyDeletecw-Awakening, Secret Circle, Hart/Heart of Dixie.
ReplyDeleteI'm also looking foward to abc's Charlie's Angels and nbc's Wonder Woman
Well if you mean which series are leat likely to get cancelled in their first episodes and get renewal... the CW... without a doubt! They don't cancel anything it seems...
ReplyDeleteI feel like I should go to the Dr. and get a complete physical.... maybe a psychiatric test or 5 too, but I think NBC might have the best pilots this season over all.
ReplyDelete17th Precinct, Brave New World, Grimm, Prime Suspect, REM,and even Special Investigations sounds like they could all be good. IF the first 5 pan out I will be happy and that would be the most new shows on one network I have ever had interest in during one pilot season... I think.
Fox has Alcatraz and Exit Strategy ...which are think are guarantees. Also, Locke and Key and Touch.
Honestly I think17th Precinct, Brave New World, Grimm and REM are 4 unique and SERIAL sounding series.. ... and if Prime Suspect if anything like it's UK predecessor it could be BRILLIANT!
Oh well, I have resigned myself to the fact that many pilots sound good on paper every year and then go out in a blaze of infamy... Whic will be the biggest shock losers or winners? Always a shock to me....
Surprisingly, NBC seems to have the most original ideas and good casting. However, they have an advantage just by the sheer volume of pilots this season. In order, I'd say:
ReplyDeleteNBC, FOX, CBS, ABC, CW
As a side note, what's with all of the dramas and comedies about assistants this year? They're everywhere.
I too think FOX has the most promising pilots followed closely by CBS ..
ReplyDeleteThat's how I see it too....
ReplyDeleteAnd surprisingly few law series. Last few years there have been a handful of new law shows every season it seems. This year...Danni Lowinski on CW is the only one that comes to mind. Even many of the police procedurals have twists this year....
It definitely feels like the year of fantasy and whimsy pilots!
One thing that hasn't changed this year is CBS. God bless 'em. Guns, cop shows, family drama, and sitcoms. It's the same every year. They know where their bread is buttered.
ReplyDeleteThe one that makes me laugh is "Hail Mary" with Minnie Driver. It reads like a Simpsons or Family Guy parody of a cop show. I REALLY want to see that pilot if only to see how ridiculous it is.
There are a few shows like that this year... they sound ridiculous, but I want to see them for train wreck entertainment value alone. To be fair, Eli Stone has such a ridiculous premise too, but I really enjoyed the execution of it.
ReplyDeleteYou can count me in with the Eli Stone fans. I really liked that show. There have been a handful of shows that dealt with faith and/or religion in an offbeat way that I liked. They were all, sadly, short lived.
ReplyDeleteJoan of Arcadia and The Book of Daniel were both really good.
NBC has it for me right now, but ABC and FOX are close behind it. Can't say I'm looking forward to much on CBS or The CW (besides Person of Interest, but I'm only interested in that for Emerson, Abrams, and Nolan; the premise of the show itself doesn't really excite me yet).
