Question of the Day - Most annoying movie and TV character ever?

14 Mar 2011

Welcome to another week of Question of the Day, hope you all had great weekends. Today's Question comes from Rochey_1 who asks

"Most annoying movie and TV character ever?"

This is probably one of the the easier QOD's for me to answer and the image above says it all. Jar Jar bloody Binks.

Every second this abomination was on the screen I just sat there cringing. Whoever thought this character was a good addition to the Star Wars franchise must of been on crack or something.

So what about you? Who are your most annoying TV characters and why. Sound off in the comments.

And please keep submitting your Questions of the Day Below using the form.

  1. I've said it before and I'll say it again:

    Tyler from V

  2. Yes. This. I just caught up and oh man. I keep disliking him more and more.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ^Yup Tyler- V

    Claire Bennet - Heroes

Buffy summers - Buffy the Vampire slayer

Jar Jar Binks - star wars

    C3PO - star wars

    Dathan - The Ten Commandments

    ReplyDelete
  4. Bones - Hannah! Every week, I kept bouncing back and forth between my like or dislike of her. I've settled on dislike. Hate her!
HIMYM - Nora. She better be gone!
Jericho - Emily. She and Jake never should have gotten back together, tbh.
Army Wives - Chase. He treats Pamela like crap. I don't know why she's still in love with him.

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hannah's gone now right? Hopefully you won't see her again.

Meredith in Grey's... I can't stand her whining. Though I didn't stop watching because of her. I stopped because Katherine Heigl left. For me Izzie was one of the only really likable characters.

    ReplyDelete
  7. entire cast of greys anatomy!! they have to die!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Neal caffery - white collar. I only tolerate him for Peter's sake.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Shaw. Though I still cannot decide if I totally hate him or completely love him. Or both.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Olivia Dunham from Fringe. I love me some female leads but when that female lead is just there just to make the MALE LEAD look bad, thus making the audience go against him, criticize and bash him like no tomorrow, I hate her.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Get over it lol! I think you're the same person. Olivia got over what Peter did, Peter got over it too, move on with your life.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The audience sure didn't get over it since some people are still criticizing him!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah I hate how she's always whining and lording it over her lovers and friends when it's apparent that they're right at times.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lisa Kimmel Fisher from "Six Feet Under". You, guys, have no idea how much I hated her! Awful character :P

    ReplyDelete
  15. True blood: Bill Compton
    Grey's anatomy: meredith
ghost whisperer: Eli and professor Payne
how i met your mother: Ted

    ReplyDelete
  16. so what?! I've seen just as much criticizing of Olivia from people like you. Enough of this anti-Peter and anti-Olivia crap! REAL fans should support both of them and quit bitching.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sookie from True Blood. I stopped watched the series because I couldn't stand that asshole for one more second.

Also, Abby Lockart, Neela Rasgotra and Tony Gates from ER. God they were histeric, prepotent idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Word! And why care about haters? So people criticize Peter and you blame Olivia for it? She was trapped into a damn alternative universe and her doppelganger had sex with the guy she's in love with. Blaming her for Peter getting criticized doesn't make any sense to me.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Greg Focker. I'm sure I'll be back with more later, but the pathetic Focker came to mind immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  20. There were moments I didn't like her that much as well (around S6 especially) but overall I thought she was a great character. Flawed, and far from perfect, but great. But I get where you're coming from.

I really agree with you on everyone else though. Especially Tyler and Claire.

    ReplyDelete
  21. And about movies, I absolutely despised Percy Wetmore from "The Green Mile". I hated him in the book, and Doug Hutchison made a wonderful job making him even more dislikable.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tyler - V
    Claire - Heroes
    Kate - LOST
    Sara - Prison Break
    Dawn - Buffy
    Fred - Angel
    S3/S4/S5!Wesley - Angel

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree. Did I just miss the part where either looked bad constantly and criticized them constantly??
Seems some people just like a moan :P

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow. I'm surprised you still watch the show then. He's in almost every scene.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cause the writers love Olivia so much that they figure the only to make everyone go against Peter and love Olivia is to make him stupid and sleep with Olivia's doppleganger! This show is sexist to men and should be canceled.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I never even realized either until I checked out fandom's response and was all whut? Didn't this fandom used to be wankfree?
    Yeah, that's probably it. :P

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cook, Liv, Matty, Tony, Anwar -> Skins
    Dixon -> Alias
    Eko, Sawyer -> Lost
    Alex -> Grey's Anatomy
    Quinn -> Glee
    Vanessa -> Gossip Girl
    Tyler -> V
    Peyton -> One Tree Hill

    ReplyDelete
  28. Absolutely Jar Jar Binks, but also his Harry Potter counterpart Dobby.

Dawn from Buffy was the one that first came to mind for TV.

    ReplyDelete
  29. For me used to be Meredith Grey, but she's got a lot better over the past season.

Now Addison Montgomery, a character I really used to like, is becoming one of the most annoying people ever. She's whining, bitching and making everything about her, just ANNOYING.

But the one who annoys me THE MOST is Finn Hudson, from Glee. He's just a self centered little arrogant, whose only concerns about being popular and being a leader, and screws up every time, just so sing about it in the end and make everything ok again (wtf with that every episode???).

I have to say, some others really bother me too:

    Taub, from House.

    Chase, from Army Wives

    Raj, the Big Bang Theory.,

    ReplyDelete
  30. OMG I can't believe this... wtf. Are you joking?

Still no reason to blame Olivia. You're not making any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Aww, Tony! He was my fave.

Absolutely agreed on Quinn, though! I don't get why she's such a popular character in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  32. atlantisguy197614 March 2011 at 15:57

Gotta agree with Jar Jar, he ruined Episode I single-handedly. The story and cheesy story didn't lend anything to help redeem it. I so wanted to love the new movies, but couldn't

As far as tv goes, pretty much any reality-television "star". Can't say that with a straight face, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I know, he's not so bad at times but there are some moments when I want to strangle him.

Another character I despise is Kate from LOST.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What? You don't like Sawyer? He's one of my favorite LOST boys along with Desmond.

I hate Kate and Jack and it's only gonna get worse when I watch it all the way through.

    ReplyDelete
  35. He got better and redeemed, but he annoyed me so much in the first season! Yes, idk why Quinn is so popular, she's sickening.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, he just annoyed me. When he was with Juliet he got better, but still...

    I love Kate and Jack!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't care, Olivia is the worst female lead if they need to punish the men to make her "sympathetic".

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think the thing that kept me from hating him in the first season was that a character couldn't be so horrible without getting some redeemable qualities soon. So I kept waiting for him to get some and then he did and I started loving him. It's weird, really.
And Quinn, ugh. I think it's just people's love for Dianna Agron that descends into her character. I can't think of any other logical reason.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sorry but that's just a stupid and why not sexist way of thinking then. You claim the show is sexist and you're being one yourself.

    LOL

    ReplyDelete
  40. Daisy, the Squintern on Bones
Jenny on Gossip Girl after she's gone nuts

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can see where you're coming from. I just didn't wait lol. But I got surprised when he got the chance to be redeemed.
I think Dianna is beautiful and a sweetheart, but Quinn, ugh. I thought having a baby would make her more mature, but I was terribly wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ewoks, Jar Jar, Anakin Skywalker, C3PO and R2D2 (mainly in episode 2)-Star Wars
Robin and Mr Freeze-Batman and Robin
    Ruby Rhod-5th Element
    Every reality show person ever.
    Mudflap and Skids-Transformers 2
    Zoe-Lost
    Draco Malfoy-Harry Potter
    Lana Lang-Smallville
    Peter Parker-Spiderman (1,2,and especially 3)
    Venom-Spiderman 3
    Chip-The Cable Guy
    Tony Stark-Iron Man
    Glenn Beck
    Sarah Palin
    Spongebob
    Everyone from Family Guy

    ReplyDelete
  43. Vanessa on Gossip Girl: every time she comes on screen me and my roommate yell at her to go away

Ivy on 90201: she always has the same annoying expression on her face (the same one we always saw on angsty Peyton on One Tree Hill)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't even think they're punishing the men to make her sympathetic, that's absurd. All the 3 of them have been through a lot, not only Olivia. Peter spent a great part of his life not knowing that he's from another universe, he almost got killed multiple times as well. I don't see the point, it just sounds like nitpicking. I don't want anyone to love Olivia, but hating her based on such a nutty argument is just creepy IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think it's safe to say, you don't know what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Annie on 90210
    Quinn on Glee
    Jenny on Gossip Girl
Ruby 2.0 on Supernatural (love Gen, though!)
Alex on Nikita (I can't put my finger on it. Must be the actress, she's somewhat terrible)
    Nina on Being Human
Jules and Damon on The Vampire Diaries
Jar Jar freaking Binks in Star Wars

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love Meredith and the day Izzie left was the best in the show for me lol
But yeah from Greys i dont like Lexie, Derek and Owen.
Tyler from V is just plain awful and cant forget the new cast members from One Tree Hill (julian, quin, clay etc)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ryan: CSI Miami

Sara: CSI Vegas (though since she came back after the whole Min killer fiasco she's been a whole lot more torable.

    Tyler: V

Kate: LOST (used to be my fave with Swayer but when she started back and forth between the guys... ugh)

    Baltar: BSG

    Hannah: Bones

    Reid: Criminal Minds (sometimes)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Me too !!! I wanted her dead all along but never thought it would actually happen... but it did !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anyone with kids in the house may attest to the horror of Fred Figglehorn. My nieces put that movie on TV at a family party last years and had adults fleeing the room until someone insisted that the kids retreat to one of the bedrooms to watch.
From the world of soap operas, Belle Black once whined that a serial killers latest attack ruined Valentines Day when her boyfriend got upset over his grandfather's death.
Also from soaps, Theresa Lopez Fitzgerald from Passions.

    Back to "regular" TV:

    Fisher from Bones
    Taub from House
Chloe from Smallville. I don't know if it's the character or the actress; but she has mannerisms and expressions that remind me of an associate I'd rather forget.
    Evan from Royal Pains
    Leonardo from Fairly Legal
    Roman from Mr. Sunshine
    Dawn from Buffy
    Ames from Human Target
    Jackie from Rosanne

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tyler - V
    Bonnie - The Vampire Diaries
Vanessa and Eric - Gossip Girl
    Annie and Dixon - 90210
    Kurt and Finn - Glee
    Owen - Grey's
    Peyton - One Tree Hill
    Saul - Brothers and Sisters
    Jeff and Lester - Chuck

    ReplyDelete
  52. Leonie Henckell14 March 2011 at 18:25

Yeah... the Izzie 'haters' normally dislike Izzie because of Katherine Heigl :)
But I agree with One Tree Hill, Clay and Quinn are annoying. I think to bring Julian in was neccesary for Brooke, but other than that... I could have gone without them.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sorry, Jeffster? Seriously? I laugh at every one of their scenes. I wonder if you have a sense of humor.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Leonie Henckell14 March 2011 at 18:27

I agree about Saul! He has been really annoying. In the first season, when he got together with Holly, than the company thing with Sarah, were he went behind her back...
And I agree about Peyton. Such a pain^^

    ReplyDelete
  55. Everyone's got their own opinions but ours are reversed. I liked Sawyer a lot more back in Season 1-2 when he wasn't ALWAYS pining over Kate and was full of anger/hate. In later seasons I started to really dislike him to the point he became one of my least favorite characters left alive.

But I rooted for Jack and Kate too!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Tyler was the main reason I stopped watching V. Such an awful character.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Daisy gets a lot of hate but I think she's adorable.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Nancy Donovan (that was Julianne Moore's character on 30 Rock). Bad accent HOF.

Junice Merrill (Kirsten Wiig's little handed character on SNL).

Gilly (Kirsten Wiig again. Really, otherwise I love this actress, but no more Junice or Gilly, please.)

    ReplyDelete
  59. olivia is getting worse in the last seasons

    ReplyDelete
  60. i can't believe you don't like ted!

    ReplyDelete
  61. spencer reid is my fav character!

    ReplyDelete
  62. i think jeffster are funny not annoying
    XD

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh yes, Flo, the lady in the Progressive Insurance commercials (I know, I know, I remembered the name of the product so she's effective, but annoying anyway).

    ReplyDelete
  64. alfred, in the pillars of the earth
    mohinder in heroes
    the hypnotist fron The cape
    annie from covert afairs
the detective of blood ties (the man)

    ReplyDelete
  65. After the Pilot I liked Alex more than Nikita, and by now I love Nikita way more and Alex just keeps on dropping. I like the actress well enough, but I don't think she's convincing enough for the role.

And I forgot Damon on my own list. Although I don't really know if it's his character or the overhyped popularity he's getting.

    ReplyDelete
  66. To but in... My sense of humor is very varied and I thought they had some funny scenes in the earlier seasons but now they just seem forced and they're just not even remotely funny anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yes, Alfred! Great show though. Not many people seem to have seen it.

    And yes, Mohinder!

    ReplyDelete
  68. HA! Yes, Ted sucks! He pretty much ruins the show! If it were not for Barney and Marshall, I'd turn it off.

I pretty much hate everyone on Grey's but Callie, Derek and Cristina.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hannah from Bones, Gaeta and Dualla from Battlestar Galactica, Vanessa from Gossip Girl

    ReplyDelete
  70. Lucas and Toub- House
    Alex- Grey's anatomy
    Skinner- the X files
    quinn and finn - glee
    Sully- Bones
    Wallowski - lie to me
    Jenny . gossip girl
Aria, maya and emily - pretty little liars
I also didn't like Zack very much...But i don't think he's the MOST annoyng ever..

There should be more...I'm gonna think about it

    ReplyDelete
  71. OMG, so good to know that I am not alone :D When I was watching s3, I already knew that she will die and I SO couldn't wait for it!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Because of juliet's death right? I won't argue about it but I blame the writers for the stupid love triangle.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oh , yes, Daisy. She has got to go --far away never to come back.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I would have gone with Max from Dark Angel, at least in season 2. :-) Whiny, petulant, self-absorbed self-righteous hypocrite who I blame for the show's end.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Tyler from V.

    ReplyDelete
  76. If Julian wouldnt be so boring then it'd be fine :) Okay i gotta be honest One Tree Hill is boring now in general :/
I started disliking Heighl because of her storylines on Grey's.

    ReplyDelete
  77. From film, Jar Jar, obviously, Shia LeBeouf's character in the last Indiana Jones movie, and any character that Rob Schneider plays. From TV:
Zoe from Lost (no point to her character)
Jeffster on Chuck (they were funny in the first two seasons, but now they need to go away)
    Lauren Reed on Alias

    ReplyDelete
  78. Love the Ted. There is no show without Ted.

    ReplyDelete
  79. 1. Tyler on V
    2. Rita on Dexter
    3. Alfred on Pillars of the Earth

    (Dis)Honorable mention to:

    Cameron on House
    Cuddy on House
    Jesse on Burn Notice
    Nina on Being Human (UK)
    Gwen on Merlin (BBC)
    MaryAnn on True Blood
Tommy (Marshall Allman) from True Blood
Lauren Reed (Melissa George) on Alias
    Connor (Vincent Kartheiser) from Angel

Every person in bad horror movies that thinks it's their friend outside making noise despite knowing 3 people in their group have already been killed.

Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker) from The Fifth Element
All the overly kid-centric crap in Star Wars movies
    Dane Cook in anything
    Shia Labeouf in anything
    Andy Dick in Anything
    Ron Schneider in anything
    Larry the Cable Guy

    ReplyDelete
  80. I liked all the characters on LOST that annoyed people... I was annoyed by Hurley, the one everyone loved.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Sent from my iPad

    ReplyDelete
  82. Jar Jar Binks (Star Wars) - [WHY? Annniiii yeeeeeeee!! Missa go do some dumb dumb things!! YEEE!]

Claire Bennet (Heroes) - [WHY? because she whines way too much]

Sophia (The Event) - [WHY? Because her goddamn voice is soo annoying and it feels like she's about to start crying everyt ime she opens her talentless mouth]

Snakes (Man vs. Wild) - [WHY? I don't like them and they always show up when I least expect..they're a**holes]

    ReplyDelete
  83. jack from lost (i could never stand him!!!)
    claire from heroes
by the end of season 3 - everyone from heores - omg they were all so annoying (especially hiro... and claire)
other than that i generally love most characters in anything i watch
which, i guess is why i love the shows i watch

    ReplyDelete
  84. All of Dexter colleagues....

    ReplyDelete
  85. ~"Why should you go to jail for a crime someone else noticed? You don't need double talk, you need Bob Loblaw."

    ReplyDelete
  86. No it wasn't because of Juliet's death, Sawyer actually annoyed me in Season 5 because of his too soft attitude and trying to take on the leader role which I didn't think he was suited for at all.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Sorry but wasn't it the point? Sawyer taking the leadership from Jack for a while? Forgive me I'm still watching the show on line.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I hate Sophia too she makes my skin crawl every time I look at her and she's creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ya he was but I thought he did it in a poor way, maybe I just missed Sawyer of Season 1-2. At any rate, all personal preference of the characters and nothing wrong with you enjoying him in Season 5. I apologize if I seemed like I had attitude in my statement.

    ReplyDelete
  90. It's okay. Don't worry about it. :) I'm cool.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Connor from Angel, without a doubt!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'll definitely join the consensus with Jar Jar Binks. I didn't know a character could be that annoying.

There's a lot of people that are going to hate me for this but... Bella Swan. Maybe Twilight would be slightly more tolerable for me if the lead female character wasn't a clumsy idiot who needed to be protected by a big strong, not to mention supernatural, man...well actually more than one supernatural man. Maybe it's because I prefer the strong independent women. Or maybe it's because I'm not a fan of Kristen Stewart.

    ReplyDelete
  93. "Every person in bad horror movies that thinks it's their friend outside making noise despite knowing 3 people in their group have already been killed."

    I love this.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Not hating. I'm applauding and I expect a lot of people on this site agree with you. I describe her as a spineless, whiny annoyance to my middle schoolers who ask. Even half of them cheer when I say it.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I like him most of the time. But he sometimes talks so fast and just rambles on that I get annoyed lol.

    ReplyDelete
  96. That's exactly it. Lydsay is a stunning girl and she pulls off the vulnerability of her character very well. But I just can't see her as some badass covert agent, for some reason. And seeing how far into the season it's been, it's kind of a bad sign that I'm not convinced. Nikita, on the other hand... nothing to say except that she absolutely MAKES the show :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. awww season 6? thats my fav, so much darker....she finally got to be less silly and badass. Her flaws are what made her good, if she was perfect, she'd be boring. seasons 2,3 and 6 r best.

Also - i hate JD from Scrubs, sooooo annoying! and not funny.

    ReplyDelete
  98. BTVS: willow is gay...keep that in mind. i dont think she'd go back to men, read the season 8 comics.
Also i think Dawn was the useless character, whinged all the time and was boring.

    ReplyDelete
  99. i read that it got cancelled because of the timing - near real live terrorist stuff, they didnt want upset ppl.

Also - alec best character ever, funny as.
i liked max, just thought the virus thing was too drawn out and it made u hate her and logan and their relationship.
plus being unresolved sucked, wanted to know if they'd win the big fight they were about to have.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Wait. Rita on Dexter?

    ReplyDelete
  101. I HATE Lana Lang from Smallville! She ruind the show for me.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I can't stand Bill. I'm glad they are keeping to the books and pushing Eric and Sookie together.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I can't stand Quinn. She annoys me so much that I was looking forward to I am Number Four till I saw Dana Agron or w/e her name is was in it and now its like UGH.

    ReplyDelete

Basically the whole cast of Secret life of the American Teenager except Tom & Griffin.
    Bill > True Blood
    Quinn, Maria, > Dexter
Jackson Avery, Burke, Webber, Teddy Altman, Addison, > Greys Anatomy. Still mad they killed off George.
Daisy, Wendall, Cam, > Bones. I loved Zack I prefer him over the Squinterns.
Samuel > Supernatural. He is one scary Grandpa.
Eddie R Lawson, Jill > Royal Pains. I love Henry Winkler but hate his character.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Wait, WHAT?? Why??
I'm shocked. That's the one guy I believed everybody in the world liked, especially women.
    Yeah, naive, I know...

    ReplyDelete
  106. Did you watch the Deathly Hallows and still hate Dobby??
Did you read the books and still hate him??
    That's kinda icy, IMHO. :s

    ReplyDelete
  107. Not me I'm a Peter girl heart and soul. :) Neal's antics don't impress me and bad boy charm if it's done in a certain correct way. (me talking here, I'm not speaking for anyone) wins me over.

    ReplyDelete
  108. i also dont see the big fuss about quinn she practically took over series one with the stupid pregnancy storyline then it ended so abysmally aswell-very annoying character not likeable at all

    finn also annoys me

    ReplyDelete
  109. Xander was my favorite Buffy character until toward the end of the show and he became more annoying then Buffy herself

    ReplyDelete
  110. Captain Janeway - Voyager Kate Mulgrew is a good actress that had a poorly written character. there were dozens of times they could have gotten home or at least done something but she would not allow it for one reason or the other. She was worse than Gilligan

    ReplyDelete
  111. Lois Lane,Oliver Queen From Smallville

    ReplyDelete
  112. Man so many characters!!
    gotta say
    - Edward Cullen. yeah, i said it.

    - Dawn - BTVS
    - Lily HIMYM [she just rubs me the wrong way...]
    - Dr Rush from SGU. I don't think i've hated a chaacter anymore in my life! I watch the show for Eli but omfg i just wanna throw the remote at the screen whenever he opens his arrogant pain-in-the-ass mouth!

... that felt good to vent... :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jarjar Binks
    Owen from Torchwood
    Fizzgig from the Dark Crystal
    Captain ... James T. ... Kirk
Alice from the Resident Evil Movies (she shouldn't even be there)
Wesker from the Resident Evil Movies (in the games, he is epic, but in the movies, they destroyed him)
    and a lot more

    ReplyDelete
