I tried to like this show, but it has very few redeeming qualities and they aren't by any means strong enough to save this stinker. I hope Matthew Perry shows up somewhere else, preferably somewhere he shares the spotlight with other comedic actors. IMHO, too much of him isn't a good thing. He needs someone to play off of.
I try to like this show too, but it's tough, it just feels like cheap jokes wrapped in a modern, fast-paced, kind of 'Better Off Ted-ish' package. Matthew Perry and Andrea Anders are great but dear God all the other actors are annoying as hell.
That just makes me sadder than Peter Tolan's dark comedy 'The End of Steve' starring Matthew Perry for Showtime didn't pan out (it was a year ago). It was about a talkshow host (Perry), it could have been swell. Now I'm just sad to see him in this unfunny show.
Hey! It's kind of like Will Arnett (Gob on Arrested Development) starring in Running Wilde on FOX last fall. It was sad to see him waste his talent on such an unfunny show, and that's the same with Matthew Perry here. Even though I think both actors were involved in the writing/producing process (I know Perry is, I think Arnett was too).
Just read something about replacements for Charlie Sheen in 2 1/2 Men and Matthew Perry was on the list. I'm not sure if his sense of humor lines up with the show, but I can see them giving it a try. Between the fans of the show and old fans of "Friends" I think he'd at least have an audience to start out with if they wanted to give him a try.
Not sure what people will think of it, but I found it intriguing enough to pass along.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
