Lithgow is capable of so much more, he was sort of wasted in my opinion. Like the fact they are getting good guest stars to work with the leads. Keeps the show fresh and helps flesh out the characters even more.
Loved the episode and thought the argument at the end was perfect with Barney being upset that he wanted some kind of reason for his father not being there for him. Awesome.
Agreed, he is one of the best actors out there, but I think he could have been better given the right material. This episode was too predictable for me, that's why I only gave it an "OK".
As far as Barney's half-sister being the mother, I didn't see anything that would go against everything we know about the mother. We have another 2 years coming up so hopefully we get to see more of Lithgow. I want to see his full range; serious, funny, and dramatic. IMO, the writers tied his hands.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI thought he was great, as was the episode
ReplyDeleteI loved this episode! I felt so bad for poor Barney. He was nearly in tears!
ReplyDeleteAnd LOL at Marshall and Lily's new "pet".
Also, someone just came up with a theory that Barney's unseen half-sister (away at college) could be The Mother since we didn't see her. I like it!
ReplyDeleteThen he would literally be "Uncle Barney"!
