Awesome. The hour flew by too quickly. But, I'm freaking out by the preview of the next episode when the announcer said that it would be Prentiss' final episode. Say it ain't so! I hope the producers realize what a HUGE mistake they are making. I still don't understand why they think writing out JJ and Prentiss would be a good idea. Rachel's character is not contributing anything to the show. Losing these two (and especially such a strong character as Prentiss) is really going to alienate the female viewers.

  2. Actually the actress who plays Prentiss decided to leave after everything that happened with AJ last summer.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Not just the female viewers. Count this male viewer as gone if Prentiss is gone.

If Reid goes, I'm gone too. I'll have to think about it if Hotch or Garcia are written out.

I understand that they've offered her a full-time gig to return next season with a condition on her contract that allows her to chase any comedic pilot that she wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well, I hope she returns. Is there any kind of timeline she has with her decision?

AJ played Jennifer Jarreau. She was the media liason for the BAU. She was one of the original characters on the show. She was, and still is, loved by the fans. I can't wait to see her back in the next episode.

Not that I know of. If I find anything, I'll post it here!

  9. Ok I know who JJ is and why she left but why is the actress playing prentiss leaving

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanks, I can never find much info on Criminal Minds.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I know they were going back and forth on contract negotiations, but I never heard the final word. something about she could come back full time, but with a reduced role, or part-time, but with the ability to do other pilots. Did she decide on the part-time contract?

    ReplyDelete
  12. are any of the others in contract negotiations that would cause another cast change

When new producers came on board for this season, they decided to "shake things up" by making cast changes to keep the show fresh. (So much for loyalty to the actors or fans!!) Paget Brewster's character was reduced to less than full time. I get the impression that Paget was unhappy with the way that JJ was written off so suddenly, and that this was also a done deal decided by the show's execs.

  14. why is garcia on both criminal minds? Is she leaving the regular one? Who gets killed off next episode? Reid and garcia are my favs.

Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore haven't signed new deals for next season.

From what I understand, and I'm not suggesting that I'm 100% right, is that the option of a full-time return is what the producers are pursuing.

  17. Hotch, Reid and Garcia are the backbone of the team to me too. Morgan is maybe the heart, but I think he could be replaced easily... other than his dynamic with Garcia. I am i in the minority... I do not miss JJ at all. I thought she was expendable, or at least the most expendable of the cast. After her I would say Prentiss then Morgan.

Prentiss has been interesting for the first time ever the past few weeks with her back story being filled in, but at the expense of each week's main plot. The last few have all felt rushed or too short to me due to the time given to the Prentiss B-plot. I like the Prentiss back story a lot, but I wish they would find a way to make it into a full episode rather than take time away from 3, 4 or 5 episodes.

  18. what is wrong with the people running these shows, the same thing is happening to the walking dead as well, they brought on all new writers for the second season, the mess with top rated shows, to make room for what more reality crap

    ReplyDelete
  19. At the risk of sounding like a bitch, its aggravating when someone pipes in about how if Reid left so would they, when he's not even on the chopping block.
JJ's gone, Prentiss is on the fence, why must you people make it about Reid? This is NOT ABOUT HIM, save your fan worship for relevant topics.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I got that impression too, but it is hard to know which side took which stance with the little nuggets of information I have seen. Hard to know what's going on during negotiations sometimes. have to wait until they are done and more details come out.... annoying as that is! I wanna know now! :P

  21. I hope they dont think they can replace minds with this new suspect behavior, its ok, but i dont feel like it has the BANG that minds does

I agree with you about Morgan. There were times when I too wondered what JJ contributed, but the entire cast worked so well together that I really don't see why they powers-that-be wanted to mess with a winning combination. Prentiss gives me a kickass female. I like her personality too. I think we need more than 4 guys and a newbie female as a team in the field.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree. I think the balance works better with a solid female on the team, in addition to a newbie agent. I just meant as individual characters, I think she is replaceable... more then the others. I don't WANT to see any of them gone. To me Prentiss just replaced Elle and neither really ever drew me in... until this last month. I like how they are finally developing Prentiss into a real dynamic character.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I never warmed up to elle, wasnt upset when she left

Where do you think we should direct our fan worship? This whole discussion is about how we feel about the characters and what we would do if they were written out. After letting JJ go and reducing Prentiss, many of us feel like none of the characters are safe.

    ReplyDelete
  26. i think the new criminal mind fails in comparison to the original...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sometimes I think we can blame a particular person, but in the case of Walking Dead... I think the head writer last year always planned on leaving after season 1 ended. People just want to do other things, but I do not get it either.

If a formula s working, I can see making a few minor tweaks, but losing writers, having a spin-off you lose a showrunner to, cutting a character (even a support role like JJ was), and then maybe losing the only other female team member.... Those are much more than minor tweaks! It makes me wonder....

  28. I saw the pilot and thought it had potential, but it did not grab me like CM did. Plus Janeane Garofalo annoys me... both in character and out of character.

  29. Supernatural Junkie3 March 2011 at 03:58

Me either. I don't even like to watch the reruns she's in.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like JG in some things, but I dont find she works on this show, and I just finished the newest episode and I find it falls flat, not the suspense or edgy story lines like CM

    ReplyDelete
  31. I kind of relate her being fired to what some shows do after a run of seasons. For instance The Practice. They had too many characters, some were too high priced for their value on the series, and they cleaned house.

I can see if it comes down to ending a series or cutting a character to save money... you cut the character. But what CM did did not makes sense in that way since they immediately hired a new character to come on. So to me it had to be about more than just money.

I'm giving it a chance, but I agree. I really love the ex-con. Anybody who wears an Atlanta Braves ball cap has my heart!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. When she first broke on the sene I liked some of her comedic roles in movies, but she just seems too bitter to me lately. She is Suspect Behavior's resident know-it-all, but she has NONE of MR. Know-it-all Reaid's charm. I love when Reid tells stories or gives random facts off the top of his head.. it's cute. When JG does it, it came off as condescending and annoying to me.

  34. Supernatural Junkie3 March 2011 at 04:04

The new show doesn't have the great characters that CM has. Garcia is one of a kind. Reid is a genius. Hotch is your typical G man. And Prentiss is a kick-ass female who can kick in a door as well as any man. Derrick is the ultimate player, but seems to have calmed down since he and Garcia have gotten so close.

  35. Ha! I planned on watching last week's episode but I did not check my DVR priorities and it recorded something else instead. I have this week's episode to watch. I like most psychological crime series... so I want to like it and will give it a few episodes at least.

Reid has such innocent charm. I have to wonder if he's ever had a relationship with a woman or has any experience with one. A love interest for him would be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  37. "Many of us feel like none of the characters are safe."

    Need an eyeroll emoticon.

CBS wanted to make the show more male-centric and figured the women were disposable, so there is no legitimate threat to Reid etc. People need to get a grip. Folks just want a reason to fret and voice how much they loooove Dr. Reid. Noted; but the employment drama isn't about him. Valhalla wasn't his last episode. Dragging attention away from those deserving and focusing on Reid is likely why (in part) CBS thought they could get away with firing the women.

  38. It would be interesting to say the least! honestly though, I truly enjoy the fact that Criminal Minds is more about the criminals than the team. I like that we have not gotten to involved in who's dating whom, no love triangles. They have kept it as most business are in real life... a work place. That way when we do get the occasional story about some one's personal life, it means so much more.

Even though you may delight in being antagonistic because the majority of us don't agree with you, we still have a right to our opinions. You can participate in the discussion without being so insulting.

  40. Personally, as far as JJ is concerned, I took it as she was an unneeded part of the series. They did not need a liaison, so she was the first to go.... female or male was irrelevant. It also backs my view up that they brought in new female soon after... a female AGENT. They did not bring a male newbie agent. I don't think it was a move to a more male-centric show at all.

The episodes where Haley Hotchner was killed were so powerful that I was brought to tears. I think Reid is such an enigma that seeing him in a romantic relationship could touching as well as hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed tonight's episode, but I am gonna be really sad next week since it is the last week for Prentiss (Paget Brewster) on the show....

    ReplyDelete
  43. I was angry at Prentiss for keeping quiet after her team was targeted! She should have been telling them everything about this guy so they would be warned and could have captured this person before all these unnecessary deaths occurred!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I thought the same thing, all those time she could have said something.... aargh!

    ReplyDelete
  45. They asked the actress who plays Garcia to be on both shows, because it workable to her schedule and she said yes. She is not leaving the original.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm starting to panic now I've read all your comments... I loved the episode, as I always do but I don't understand what's going on with Prentiss, she should talk to Hotch!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you noticed on last nights episode.. she left the safe door open.. with the envelope still inside...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Supernatural Junkie3 March 2011 at 18:47

I noticed the safe thing too. If the producers wanted us frustrated, they got it when they didn't have Prentiss tell her team. But, according to the previews, it looks like they will find out next week.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Supernatural Junkie3 March 2011 at 18:49

I agree. I know she was trying to protect them, but when she saw all of the law enforcement in that room at the end of the episode, she should've spoken up and not disappeared.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Great episode. Completely different tenor from the typical CM episode. Love that they are no longer just teasing the Prentiss story and getting down to it. I never felt connected to Prentiss at all, but this recent storyline has made her dynamic to me. Still won't miss her exactly, but its annoying that they waited until she was leaving to give her a good story...
