James Caviezel has been cast in J.J. Abrams and Jonah Nolan’s CBS drama pilot Person of Interest.

He joins Lost alum Michael Emerson and Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson in the Warner Bros. Television project.

The drama centers on a paramilitary CIA officer (Caviezel) who is presumed killed in the line of duty, but resurfaces in New York City where he teams up with an eccentric billionaire (Emerson) to clean up the city’s violent underworld.

Caviezel co-starred opposite Ian McKellen in AMC’s 2009 remake of The Prisoner. He also starred in Terrence Malick’s Thin Red Line and Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ.

  1. This sounds like a pretty cool show. The cast is shaping up to be quite good also.

    Oh, and praise Jeebus. :)

  4. Looking forward to this. Caviezel is hit or miss for me. I have disliked more he's been in than I have liked, but he is a good actor....

  8. Total agreement. An absolutely fantastic cast ruined by absolutely horrible writing.

  9. Ya The Cape was one of last season's new shows I heard about first and was also one of the few I was truly looking forward to, but after watching I thought it was the worst pilot of the season by far. It got some better, but still was doomed to cancellation.

Superhero shows have such a limited possible fanbase as it is.... if they don't start off fairly well they are doomed to fail... at least on network TV. Personally I can watch an "okay" hero show and enjoy it for years, but most people can't. Look at Smallville. Decent show even with its flaws and still very watchable to me.... never got above mediocre ratings. I know many people want to say it is the CW curse, but I feel a good series will get viewers no matter what channel it is on. Look at that ridiculous show Jersey Shore. More people get The CW than pay for cable and receive MTV and it pulls in huge numbers(for cable) and decent numbers for even a network series... Channel is no excuse for poor ratings, but I digress.

I would love this to be Batman without the cape... a hero vigilante that uses real world tools and not superhuman powers to get the job done. With the cast and its producer's pedigree I have high hopes! It is a good sign when real actors get involved and not pretty faces or muscled bodies

  10. Right on. CBS has Hawaii Five-0 for everyone's "pretty face & muscled body" needs. Besides, CBS can't go too young with their casting anyway 'cause they'd lose their audience, which is a bit older than the other networks.
