Billy Campbell has revealed details about his role in new AMC crime drama The Killing.The actor will play Seattle City Councilman Darren Richmond in the cable network's remake of Danish series Forbrydelsen.
"Richmond is a troubled person, I think," he revealed in an official AMC interview. "[He's also] a somewhat tragic person."
Campbell explained that Richmond, a mayoral candidate, will have his morals tested as he becomes increasingly entwined in the show's central murder mystery.
"The whole arc of the character is an idealist finding out that you can't get in the ring without, to some extent, liking the taste of blood," he suggested.
The former Melrose Place star also suggested that the crisis faced by Richmond is "a really interesting dilemma".
"He's gotten involved in politics to make a difference," he explained. "It's about winning. If you don't win, you can't do any of the good things you thought you might."
