Julie Benz has joined her No Ordinary Family co-star Michael Chiklis in booking a pilot in second position. Benz has joined CBS' untitled Susannah Grant drama pilot which, like NOF, has high-concept elements. Jonathan Demme is directing the supernatural medical drama, from CBS TV Studios and Timberman/Beverly, which centers on Michael (Patrick Wilson), an ultra-competitive surgeon whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife (Jennifer Ehle), a doctor running a free clinic, dies and begins teaching him what life is all about from the hereafter. Benz will play Michael's sister, an unfocused and overwhelmed single mother with a huge heart.

Headline is totally misleading since they're not actually in the SAME one.
ReplyDeleteCBS has been trying to develop a successful medical drama for what seems like forever. This isn't it. The best effort they had in years was Miami Medical and no one watched that either. I like Julie Benz and I hope she finds a better gig.

ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed "3 Lbs" a few years ago with Stanley Tucii, Mark Feuerstein, and Indira Varma, but it did not last 5 episodes before being axed.
ReplyDeleteThat show had a great cast. CBS has been trying to nail this genre down since Chicago Hope (which I also liked) but can't seem to get it done.
