Hallelujah - Casting News - Terry O’Quinn joins cast

Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn is heading back to ABC in Hallelujah, an hourlong pilot from Desperate Housewives duo Marc Cherry and Sabrina Wind.

The project — billed as a drama with musical elements — is set in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil and whose fortunes change when a stranger comes to town, bringing justice, peace and possibly restoring faith.

O’Quinn will play the show’s main villain Del, a charming yet wholly corrupt local millionaire who virtually owns the town. He joins a cast that also includes Law & Order‘s Jesse L. Martin and Cashmere Mafia‘s Frances O’Connor.

    Does anyone know why they quietly killed Odd Jobs? J.J. Abrams/Emerson/O'Quinn must have known how much the LOST fandom was into that project. You'd think they'd have enough respect for us to just tell us outright what seems to have gone wrong.

    Anyway, that aside, this pilot sounds kinds of lame, but Jesse Martin and Terry O'Quinn are both awesome... So, maybe?

    I don't believe Odd Jobs was officially killed. It was, according to a TV Line article, "pushed to a later development timetable."

    With both lead actors signing on as series regulars for pilots, I don't think that we can honestly say that Odd Jobs is still being seriously considered.

    When they say "later development timetable" you can usually count on that meaning next pilot season.

    I understand that.

    My point is that both of these actors have signed on to other shows as series regulars. Are we expecting these two actors to sign on to other projects, have these other projects get green lit for a first season, only to let them run only for that one season so they can do Odd Jobs later? I mean, finding a hit is obviously a hard thing to do so there's no guarantee that either show will make it... But if their intention was to do Odd Jobs next season, you'd think they would stick to guest star gigs or something. Not that I have a problem with them simply doing their jobs... I just wish they would address the apparent fate of Odd Jobs.

    Let's face it. NBC needs to keep its options open and I highly doubt that Hallelujah is going anywhere. As for Emerson and Point of Interest, I think that's a wait and see situation.

    If both actors are unattached to projects next spring, there's no reason why the network wouldn't consider it. Of course, something would actually have to be written which I don't think ever happened here. I'm not sure the show ever got past the idea stage. You can't really pass on a script you never got. You know?

    Now, all that said, you're probably right. Odd Jobs is probably DOA. I just like playing devil's advocate.

    Ugh, I was SO looking forward to "Odd Jobs." This storyline seems a bit.. Weird, but I try not to judge shows by their premise alone. And with two great actors like Jesse L. Martin and Terry O'Quinn, maybe it'll be good after all!

    I still want "Odd Jobs," though.

    I wasn't sure what to make of this news at first, but after some thought I have decided it means very, very little to me.

    I loved LOST and John Locke, but that role was created for O'Quinn and around him. I don't necessarily think every role he will have from now on will be as special as Locke was. This series will live or die by the "musical elements" and not the good vs evil story. I don't think Terry O'Quinn will impact how the showrunners integrate musical elements into the story.

    I ABSOLUTELY LOVE good vs evil battles like Carnival, Point Pleasant, LOST and so many more series of varying quality, but I am skeptical of this series.

    Throughout the past week, 3/21 to 3/25 they have been filming part of the pilot in Orange County, California. Marc Cherry is a graduate from California State University Fullerton and according to a friend that attends Chapman University in Orange, California, they did extensive filming in the Orange Circle.
