Oh dear :(
Drat: Fox’s Fringe fell to its lowest rating ever Friday night. The drama dropped 13% to 3.8 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the adult demo.
Anybody watching broadcast ratings this week wouldn’t be entirely surprised by the drop, however. Since the start of Daylight Savings Time, ratings have been falling all week (more daylight in the early evening tends to result in fewer people watching TV). The competitive field was slightly different last night too, with CBS running college basketball, but its rating was on par with what the network typically pulls in the hour.
Still…All-time lows in the run-up to the May upfronts is never news a drama series wants to get, particularly a bubble show on Friday nights. Fox wants to bring Fringe back and has been leaning toward a pickup, but nights like this do not help.

Wonderful. I can't express truly how much this pleases me.
ReplyDelete*Head in the oven* :(
=(
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought Fringe was doing alright in the ratings. This does not help indeed :| :(
ReplyDeleteits because of stupid plot of bell being in olivia. i think that tuned out alot of people just because its a lame idea.
ReplyDeletewell now my day is ruined! :(
ReplyDeleteHow is that last night Anna Torv and some of the Fringe characters were trending on twitter in the US and now we get numbers like this? Seriously I think this whole Nielsen box system is crap.
ReplyDeleteThat's some absolutely terrible ratings right there.
ReplyDelete"Fox wants to bring Fringe back and has been leaning toward a pickup, but nights like this do not help."
That's a very mild way to put it. I doubt Fox would be "leaning toward a pickup" after this. If it pulls this rating off again, you can all be sure it'll be canceled.
"BUT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS... BUT BASKETBALL... BUT FOX IS LEANING TOWARD PICKUP..."
People need to STOP making excuses and making the situation look better than it really is. Just TURN YOUR TV ON on friday night. That's what people have to do.
Fans MUST convince friends and family to SEE IT live, NOT DVR. DO NOT RECORD IT, SEE IT LIVE.
The situation is certainly NOT good, the ratings were TERRIBLE last night, last week's 1.5 was NOT GOOD, and 1.3 is DEFINITELY TERRIBLE.
THIS IS THE REAL SITUATION PEOPLE. IF YOU REALLY WANT IT RENEWED THEN GET MOVING.
A lot of people I know who watch Fringe are on Spring Break this week and on vacation. Friday nights are rough for some people to be watching TV at 9 pm.
ReplyDeleteEugh. And Bellivia doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteNeed superficial viewers to boost ratings.
We need Hot Olivia back in the tank, Peter in his tank top breaking down doors. Lots of scary sh*t.
Not some old dude in a dressing gown drinking a cup of tea.
Sucks for Fringe fans, I don't watch it, but I root for it because it's situation is similar to CHUCK's, I hear it's top quality and it doesn't get the viewership it deserves :(
ReplyDeleteStupid nielson viewers watching the wrong shows :(
Not good. Question will Fringe go on another break or will the rest of the episodes air in March and April? It seems strange for me that FOX wouldn't save any episodes for sweep weeks in May...
ReplyDeleteFringe is off the wek of April 1st then back the following week. (tv guide)
ReplyDeleteFringe's ratings haven't dropped because of daylight savings. The ratings dropped because the show sucks. Shame on EW for coming up with such a lame excuse.
ReplyDeleteGood job on bashing one of the best shows on television right now.
ReplyDeleteFox is responsible for this..;
ReplyDeleteThe fans are responsible for not watching it.
ReplyDeleteTRUE THAT. Bellivia crap isn't going to cut it. its the lamest idea Fringe has ever bought up in its entire 3 seasons.
ReplyDeleteMarch Madness really doesn't help. I know it's another excuse but a 1.3 isn't just random. Sports always put a dent in show ratings.
ReplyDeleteA show on Fox doing badly on Friday nights? I'm SHOCKED. SHOCKED I TELL YOU.
ReplyDeleteThe Friday night timeslot is brutal - if you're going anywhere or doing anything related to the weekend, it's going to be affected on Friday. I liked Thursdays a lot. I wouldn't mind Tuesday or Wednesday either - but ... I'm no ratings expert, is Friday at 9 a high rating timeslot?
ReplyDeleteThis sucks!!! But I don't blame the Bellivia storyline. It might have seemed like a bad idea (I didn't think so) and maybe it was painful to listen to Bell's voice inside Olivia for an hour. But there was a lot of good things about the episode too. If people didn't tune in because of this storyline, then that is pretty sad. This is Fringe, if we aren't going to stick with the good and bad, then I guess we deserve to lose it. This makes me so mad because I have watched every episode whether I enjoyed it or not and yet I may lose the only show I watch because people couldn't stick with it through a storyline they didn't like that much or thought was a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I was on such a high last night after seeing it. Now I am just depressed and angry
ReplyDeleteThe Friday night slot is often called "the death slot". So no, not a spot for high ratings. Very difficult to survive in that slot so please when you can, always see Fringe live on tv.
ReplyDeleteRebecca Black has been trending on twitter for days. Don't overestimate the power of the trending list.
ReplyDeleteThe show as a whole is more important than whether or not you enjoy the Bellivia storyline. It doesn't deserve cancelation for it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I wish all the Fringe fans shared your view of it being top quality! They need to find a better system than just counting nielson boxes...I just hope it isn't too late for my beloved show. I have never seen Chuck but it has my support now!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Fox has done everything they could, despite what has been said about moving it to the Friday night death slot. It for sure would have been cancelled with these numbers if it had stayed on Thursday nights. It all comes down to the fans not watching
ReplyDeleteWow. This would happen the one night I tune in to watch it live!
ReplyDeleteI'm watching it live every Friday, rewatching it on Fox.com, and spreading the word via social networking and through people at work!
ReplyDeleteAnd I've been doing this since October.
Never have I put so much effort into saving a TV show.
But Fringe is worth it!
Do you have a Nielsen box?
ReplyDeleteI think there is another new episode on March 25th. But that should be the last new one before the break. Am I right?
ReplyDeleteYou just killed her effort to save the show with the painful truth :-(...so heartbreaking :-D
ReplyDeleteDON'T DO IT! YOU HAVE A PURPOSE! Dana Grey said so!
ReplyDeleteThat is the story of our reality today - most people don`t think ahead because they can`t think ahead. They have headaches when they think so they`re doing their best to avoid it :-D
ReplyDeleteYou just gave me an idea. Let's steal Nielsen boxes from people who don't watch Fringe and boost the results.
ReplyDeletegood job, I'm trying too... keep it up. We gotta get another season
ReplyDeleteNext Friday, the numbers for NCAA basketball will rise because they are farther in the competition. Last week was the very beginning. I'm not sure why Fox decided to air new episodes against the NCAA tournament. Did they think Fringe would lose momentum after a hiatus? I'd expect to see ratings rise again after basketball and of course very high DVR numbers regardless.
ReplyDeleteI sure as hell wasn't expecting this. It's hard to believe. I've never missed an episode either and thought last night's was excellent. Hopefully Fox does take into account Daylight Savings Time and Basketball. Things are starting to get a little too close for comfort and that's not good.
ReplyDeleteit sucks that I can't help with watching live..TV channels here are still in season 1 :(
ReplyDeleteWhy are people not watching the best show on TV?
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the episode yet - I'll watch it 11 pm - but personally I think Fringe out to leave "possession stories" to Supernatural where it's part of the show's regular canon. I feel your pain on fans sticking with a storyline they don't like because they otherwise love the show. On Supernatural this season some fans disliked the "Soulless Sam" (I loved it) and/or the "Lisa/Ben" storyline (I loathe it). Different strokes and that ;).
ReplyDeleteI concur with Nick Scryer, I watch Chuck and I know how hard it is to be worried about your show. I'm wondering if I should watch since my library is running low. :p
ReplyDeleteThat's a lame reason to not watch your favorite show. If that's really true than those people aren't true Fringe fans. Just saying. It's like the people who only watch the "over here" episodes because they don't like the "over there" team or because they watch for the Peter and Walter relationship or whatever other reason they come up with. Especially when a show is in danger like this, people can't just pick and choose the episodes they want to watch if they want the show to survive. And that's that.
ReplyDeleteWell this just depresses me to no end. I don't watch any other show on television anymore so if Fringe isn't renewed I'll have nothing to watch next fall...
ReplyDeleteI'm NOT giving up! Created another facebook event to mobilize fans: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137291516340511
ReplyDeleteTell everyone you know what is happening to Fringe ratings; people know it's bad, but not HOW bad.
I am pretty sure even the slow-minded executives at FOX realize that the NCAA tournament is the second most popular sporting event in the United States and that ANYTHING broadcasting during the NCAAs will take a ratings hit.
ReplyDeleteSo you think everybody that watch a tv show from Fringe to NCIS are watching because it is their favourite ? IMO, no some people like fringe to a certain extent and Bell's soul jumping into Olivia's Body is plot some thought was too lame to stay uhome on friday night and watch... i disagree with them but i understand
ReplyDeleteYes Bloodline is the last before the break :)
ReplyDelete@Keith I really hope they take all of that into account and I agree after watching the episode last night and being thrilled with it, I certainly wasn't expected this news :(
ReplyDelete@CyanaT It is just so frustrating to for fans to love the show but refuse to watch certain episodes because of a character or storyline. We all find different things to like/dislike about something but if we love the show, we can't pick and choose. Sigh thanks for the understanding! I liked how they did this storyline personally, definitely not a big fan of Bell but that only proves how amazing Anna Torv is with her acting. It is a storyline I will have to patient for to see how it turns out. Also, I know a lot of people pit Fringe against Supernatural, but for me at least I have no problem with Supernatural. Never seen it, but doesn't mean it isn't a good show just that I am not into it.
Well actually I do know quite a few people who consider Fringe to be one of their favorite, if not their favorite show but they'll only watch the episodes they like and okay maybe I'm mostly addressing them. They say "oh I'll just wait until this storyline is over or the next episode that I'll like." What I'm trying to tell them is if Fringe loses too many viewers then they'll never see it return to what they want because the show will be cancelled. I'm just tired of people saying that they don't want this show to end but then they still pick and choose the episodes they want to watch. So I guess pardon my outburst. I'm very passionate about this show and am tired of constantly stressing out over whether or not this show will be cancelled.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is the problem with TV in general these days... or maybe with viewers in general. Shows that do the same thing OVER and OVER find an audience that likes them (and repetition too I guess), while shows like FRINGE or other serialized shows are not the same week to week and the fruit fly attention span of many viewers finds stroy, plot or subplot they do not like on any given week and decides to not watch that week or the next etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand this "a la carte" mentality at all. I can see watching procedurals or law shows sporadically based on personal free time or a story in an episode. What sane person watches a serialized tv show and picks and chooses episodes?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I answered my own question.... sporadic watchers non-FRINGE watches are insane?
Well, I couldn't watch live last night because of work... Otherwise I would have... I watched it on the FOX website to see if that would help... *At 5 a.m.* We need to keep rallying as much people as we can to get the ratings up again... Come on Fringies! What do you say?
ReplyDeleteI've never watched Fringe but since it's in the same boat as Supernatural in a lot of ways (superb show with lower-than-deserved ratings) I always try to keep up with ratings news and support the show's fandom. But to hear that it got its lowest ratings ever? Man, guys. I'm really sorry! Hopefully once the basketball stuff is over we'll see a ratings spike.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, Fringe fans! Supernatural fans support your show too!
Its too bad but you are completely right. It is so much easier for people to watch mindless television than to actively engage in a show like Fringe. They are missing it because I have never seen a show that encourages the viewer to participate as much as Fringe. Not only that but it really makes us look into some pretty deep stuff. I guess that makes people uncomfortable or maybe just don't want to be bothered by it. I just hope that those of us who do actively engage and want to be so involved don't lose something like Fringe because of those kinds of people
ReplyDeleteomg!! i can't believe this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it sucks! we need to get another season............... :s
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I don't have a nielson box but all my efforts are going into promoting this wonderful show. SpoilerTV, Fringetelevision, Facebook, Twitter...not to mention I am driving my family, friends, people at work, school, etc crazy because all I talk about is Fringe. I have never been so invested in a show and if this doesn't work, I don't think I will put the effort into watching another show period. You are doing a great job, keep it up! And yes Fringe is so worth it!
ReplyDeleteThe question I ask myself pretty much every moment of the day
ReplyDeleteThanks Sasha! We really appreciate your support! Fringe fans support Supernatural too...we are all in this together trying to save our favorite shows!
ReplyDeleteEverything helps! I agree. This is the time to rally the troops and unite in our love for Fringe!
ReplyDeleteThose people are just stupid. There...I said it. That`s what I hate about the society in general. They don`t realize what the consequences of their decisions are.
ReplyDeleteIf I were religious, I`d say: "How could God made such stupid people?" They know that their show is in danger `cause of low ratings and still they choose to not watch the episode when they don`t like the plot.
And that`s related to my previous comment on this poll: People these days don`t plan ahead. Because when they think, they`ve got headaches so they try their best to avoid it. And this is not related only to the Fringe or any other TV show. It`s today`s society as a whole. I know that I skipped to the politics right now but that doesn`t mean I`m wrong, does it?
Maybe I`ll upset a lot of people by saying: "This is the biggest strenght and the worst weakness of democracy - the stupid majority is ruining lives of the intelligent minority." And that implies to all demoratic countries (Good Lord...my country is the best example).
Really? People actually care about Basketball ?!?! (Forgive my ignorance, I'm Canadian).
ReplyDeleteWell this just made my week.
ReplyDeleteA whole lot worse.
Yes we do. That's a lot like the surprise other countries get when some American says they don't like soccer.
ReplyDeleteI think there's no danger in Fringe getting to Season 4, Season 5 is what worries me. Fox has been more than generous with Fringe in terms of the promo they have given it, and again I'm sure that regardless of the ratings we will get another season. I wouldn't mind Fringe using more "in-episode" merchandise like with Sprint. Maybe at the end of the episode instead of Peter saying "going for a beer", he could say "Let's go to starbucks!" hahaha. anything that helps is fine with me :P
ReplyDeleteAnd although I'm a fan of bellivia, it is true that a lot of people dislike this plot in particular and it is completely understandable.
OK I'm a ratings dummy, so I have questions:
ReplyDelete1) Is it possible to request a Nielsen box? Can TPTB tell what I'm watching if I don't have one?
2) Does playing the show on the computer help?
3) How can Facebook help? I listed Fringe as a favorite TV show and now I get "Fringe posts" which I like, and sometimes click "like."
What helps? I watch it and record it at the same time, and talk to my Fringie relatives about it. Something else I can do?
2) I don't believe watching it online helps since there are no commercials
ReplyDelete3) Write on the Fringe wall to let people know our situation. Most people aren't aware of the danger Fringe is in. As for me, I made a Facebook event and posted the link on every tv site I check: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137291516340511
Basically, spread the word and convince other fans and potential viewers. One person can only so much.
No you can't request a Nielsen box. It is supposed to be random but many people question if it's representative. Could there really be that many people out there that watch Jersey Shore?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't have a Nielsen box, they do not track what you watch on normal TV or your DVR. However, Nielsen sends out surveys to a random number of households during sweeps, so it is possible that you would be asked about what you watch for a certain week.
Playing the show on your computer may help in the future. They are just now compiling data on it. So far though, it does not effect ratings and only computer versions that show the same commercials as on-air count. However, it can't hurt to watch on the Fox site. They have to be keeping track of what their own site does. iTunes also keeps records of how many times shows get downloaded. My guess is that this, along with other pay-per-episode places, share the info with the networks. DVD sales, international sales, and possible syndication can sometimes come into play but only if the network produces the show. They also don't mean near as much as ratings.
FB can help spread the word and maybe it will reach someone who does have a Nielsen box. If those people even exist? Sometimes I think they make this stuff up as they go along.
Really though, the biggest problem Fringe has is that Fox doesn't have much room on its schedule. With The X-Factor taking up 2-3 hours next year, some shows have to go. Right now, bets are that they will renew 1 bubble show and that's not even a given. Although, some people have talked about bubble shows coming back as mid-season replacements or in case a new show bombs completely - think Lonestar.
I`m gonna point something out that has to be said: When the radio was first invented, people thought - "wow, what a great add to a newspaper". But then the radio became more popular then a newspaper. And then the TV came out and people thought - "wow, what a great add to the radio". But the time showed the TV is more popular than the radio. And NOW we`ve got the internet. And guess what people think... that`s right - "wow. What a great add to the TV".
ReplyDeleteBut the truth is - the internet is already more "popular" or used than watching TV. And that means that the whole television system and market and advertising we experience every day is obsolete. Because the internet thanks to downloading and iTunes, Hulu, Youtube and other stuff is more suitable for people today - you can watch/listen what you want whenever you want BUT your "vote" is not counted with in the ratings system.
And every city now has got free wifi antenas (with no password to be able to connect), almost every little restaurant or pub or anything has a free wifi connection and we`ve got iPods, iPhones, iPads, laptops, smartphones so the system has to be changed so we can actually use these advantages to keep our favourite shows in production.
So the real problem is - how to create the new system? And I`ve got the answer. The people from the Nielsen company or people from TV should do it because when they look at the big picture they know that the TV will be a thing of the past in two decades tops and they will lose money. And they better change the system sooner than later or never.
When another person says to a Canadian they don't like hockey, forget surprise...we kill them. Or stick them in prison for the rest of their lives. Fair warning.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that :(
ReplyDeleteFringe is the only TV show I've taken a real interest into since LOST ended. I'm even more sad that we overseas viewers have a very little influence on the fate of US shows.....
However I'm optimist concerning season 4.....but a fifth season is another thing altogether....
Yes, the Bellivia plot has gotten the fanbase pretty divided. If only people realized it's not forever and just a small arc to get the answers and set up the finale.
ReplyDeleteThis is crap :( I love my show so damn much, why does the world do this to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm off to cry myself to sleep now (I am actually quite serious about this) I'm really not happy about this drop in ratings.
Thanks, M and Dahne. I'll get active on FB and cross my fingers!
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to call it now. We will get a 4th and final season. :)
ReplyDeleteBut then there's the question of whether it would have ratings this low if it was on Thursday nights instead of Friday.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your optimism. We must get fans and potential fans to watch live next week! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137291516340511
ReplyDeleteCome on guys don't give up just yet. spread the word :)
ReplyDeleteIf the rumors of getting a renewal announcement next week are true, I'm afraid Friday is too late. But I have a lot of optimism that we won't need to have a huge rating Friday anyway. ;)
ReplyDeletewhere did you hear those rumors?
ReplyDeleteBecause Burn Notice isn't coming back for a couple of months; but I do catch the reruns.
ReplyDeleteWhy Cant Fox do a Lost on Fringe and give it another 3 season pick up to finish the story off right. I'm sure the writers have it planned out enough for 2 possibly 3 more Seasons. If this is going to be the last season I hope its not left on too much of a cliffhanger. It does not deserve that
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'm wrong but I think the writers are gearing up for a Series Finale. Enjoy the last 5 episodes Folks cause I think thats all we're gonna get. Please Fox let me be wrong
ReplyDeleteI think Nielsen viewers are well aware of the consequences when they don't watch a show. For the rest, it's a TV show so if a storyline doesn't really interest them, they will stop watching and wait until it's over and because they're no Nielsen household, they think they don't matter in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I qualify as sane but I pick and choose based on how much I liked the previous episode, if I'm excited for the next episode and whether I like the direction the show is going. You call it insane, I would describe myself as picky. I believe that I got to right to watch an episode when I got the time and when I want to watch it and watch it because I have to. Maybe that's the wrong mentality but I don't feel any loyality towards a TV show, not even my favorite TV show of all time - Supernatural. I will watch an episode because I want to and not because I'm obliged to watch it because I call myself a fan of that show.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteJust keep talking about it, the more you talk about it, the more people will get curious about it and watch!
ReplyDeleteOMG Thank you for the warning! I say that all the time. lol
ReplyDeleteWanna bet that they will do it later rather than sooner? ;D I know it's frustrating but I think the situation (huge ratings drop) has to get much worse before the networks will do something.
ReplyDeleteThat's because Fringe doesn't have the same ratings as Lost did.
ReplyDeleteStay positive!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like Fringe, this is bordering on the CW's territory. And that's bad. No excuses. There was barely any competition last night. Yes, basketball, but the game wasn't a smash hit, take a look at the ratings - 1.8 demo at 9pm, 1.4 demo at 9.30. CSI:NY did better last week. If Fringe can't take on any competition then it's simply not strong enough. I love the show, I really do, but I refuse to apply the "fan excuse bingo" :(
ReplyDeleteWell yeah, I know... And it`s beacause of those little green papers in the USA and multicolor papers we have here in the EU :-D.
ReplyDeleteBut that`s the problem of capitalism - we will always keep the obsolete system going to make money even when some more effective ways are presented (BUT WITH LESS MONEY OF COURSE - AND THAT`S THE PROBLEM).
The good thing is...right now mostly the fans of the sci-fi shows are realizing this but when more and more people will use iTunes and Hulu and other stuff to watch their favourite shows on their computers rather than watch it on TV, the more of those shows will get axed and more people will realize how stupid the system is...And it`s going to be very soon - like I said 20 years tops.
i think that 3 more seasons is a fairly improbable request, given the ratings. but i do think they should settle for one more season and that's that. just one more, to finish up the stories. of course i would love to have two more, but i doubt that's going to happen. at this point i would even be happy with a 13-episode fourth season, as long as the show doesn't end this season with a cliffhanger!!!
ReplyDeleteMama said there'll be days like this, there'll be days like this my mama said.
ReplyDeleteIt's not fair for us over in Europe, as there are most likely a lot more viewers over here, but our figures are never taken into consideration, perhaps the Americans should be getting their fingers out!
ReplyDeleteOh heck I hate that song but it's so catchy at the same time! :(
ReplyDeleteDon't give up Fringe dudes and dudettes I may be a chuck fan but I support you guys. :)
There's a lot of office betting around march madness, so even people who don't really care about basketball follow it because they have money riding on it.
ReplyDeletei agree! i'm in europe too and it's so unfair that we are not taken into consideration at all! we (fans outside the us in general) are quite a bunch..... it just sucks that a show's life depends on how many people watch the ads!!!!! fringe is a great show and it has a wide and strong fanbase, just maybe a kind of fanbsae that resorts to new ways of watching shows.
ReplyDeleteI am a die hard fringe fan I bought the dvd and the blue ray versions and i watch it religously i get all my friends and family to watch.I check spoiler tv and other fringe websites to try and get the latest spoilers .But i am afraid this william bell taking over olivia is probably the worst story line i have seen in fringe .The thing about fringe is although there are some fantastical things happening they have some sort of basis in science this body take over thing is just laughable!!! watching broyles talk about leaving the body was truly cringe worthy!!
ReplyDeleteWalter Bishop on Facebook. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the worst part of a cancellation would be that we probably wouldn't get a satifying ending. Much like heroes. Everyone thought it'd come back and then they left us hanging. I'm just so annoyed at how many of my favorite shows just get cancelled without even giving them at least a good finale episode. :(
ReplyDeleteIt's all about speculating from producers and network and I hate it .
Do the European TV shows take into account American viewership? For example, if Top Gear for some odd reason lost most of its popularity in the UK, but was still popular in America, would they still produce the show? Just wondering. :)
ReplyDeleteNow THIS post of yours, I completely agree with. If I could "like" this a hundred times, I would.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. Basketball is HUGE here, lol.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you don't take them from Supernatural viewers.
ReplyDeleteThanks :-D...very much appreciate it :-D
ReplyDeleteHmm...the only good news I can see out of this is Fringe will probably be the most popular show on spoilertv again. Sigh. TELL YOUR KIDS, TELL YOUR WIVES, AND TELL YOUR HUSBANDS TO WATCH LIVE! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137291516340511
ReplyDeletei know, i know, i'm just saying that fringe has a lot more fans than just the ones taken into account by the nielsen box. and that goes for every show. but it's mostly american shows that reach people overseas, but it goes both directions, of course. my point is, i wish there were another way to determine how succesful a show is than just estimating how many people are watching the commercials.
ReplyDeleteI think that the way they saw it at FOX was, either let it try to stay alive on Fridays, or just cancel it right then on Thursdays, because it was not even near high enough to consider renewing it yet again on Thursdays. I still say it wouldn't have been so bad to put it behind House on Monday... Nothing seems to fit well there...
ReplyDeleteI think that maybe the writers knew that a renewal was looking less and less secure, so they decided on a way that we could get answers easily and move the storyline along as quick as possible. Having William Bell "appear" might do just that.
ReplyDeleteEven though, I agree, it didn't seem very, "Fringe".
