Thanks to Nao for the heads up.

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS has locked in its episodic commitments for the current 2010-11 season, network sources have confirmed to the site exclusively.

Said counts are actually lower in some cases than previously suggested: "Mike & Molly" and "Rules of Engagement" will film 24 episodes each, not 26; while "Blue Bloods" will wrap after 22 episodes, not 24.

Also confirmed as 24-episode orders: "How I Met Your Mother," "Hawaii Five-0," "The Big Bang Theory," "The Mentalist," "NCIS," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "Criminal Minds."

Meanwhile, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: NY," "CSI: Miami" will all shoot 22 episodes each.

And finally, "The Good Wife" will conclude its season after 23 episodes with midseason entries "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," "Chaos" and "Mad Love" at 13 each.

  1. I predict Criminal Minds, Suspect Behavior will have a full order next season. that show is getting too good not to IMHO.

  2. I wouldn't be so sure about that if I were you. Last week, Suspect Behavior pulled in a 2.2 rating while its lead in, a Criminal Minds repeat, pulled a 2.1 with only 300k fewer viewers. If CBS can net those numbers on a repeat then Suspect Behavior is suddenly very expendable. The show was up only two tenths with a new Criminal Minds lead-in this week.

  3. CBS just has too many procedurals on right now to add the usualy 3 or 4 new drama pilots next season. The idea of a new hit series often is more tempting than a solid established show or a respectably solid new seres. Personally I like Supect Behavior and Blue Bloods quite a bit... more than CSI:Spn-offs, but something's got to give. I fear is it will be Suspect behavior and one of the CSI spin-offs... and either The Good Wife or Blue Bloods.

I hope they just decide to let it ride and not have as many new pilots next year.

  4. I just read over at Deadline that Blue Bloods is doing very well internationally (it says the same about Suspect Behavior also). That probably gives it a big edge over the other bubble shows at CBS like The Good Wife and The Defenders.

  5. Didn't know that, I'm just going on the goodness of the show, not that that matter now-a-days. All the ratings stuff just confuses me.

  6. Great article thanks!

Nice to see quite a few of "my" series in the A and B+ range... for whatever it's worth I guess.... Didn't FlashForward have high international numbers last year?

  7. I don't think that either Blue Bloods or The Good Wife are bubble shows: TGW got 23 episodes instead of the previously announced 22 and Blue Bloods is doing well considering it's on on Fridays.

  8. I hope you are right!

The Good Wife hit a a series low in ratings this week. Personally I haven't watch the series yet, but it seems silly to cancel a show that has good critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase of 9 million plus. A series low at this time of the year could be very dangerous for renewal chances though.....

  9. shouldn't this be 2011-2012 season?

  10. So, has The Defenders been cancelled or what? Don't see it listed in the article above.

Shame really, since I really enjoy seeing movies/shows with Jim Belushi, and thought The Defenders to be a pretty fun and good show.

  11. No, nothing official.

The Defenders was only 18 Episodes and it's finished already so that's
why it's not in this press release :)

  12. Yes, FF sold well overseas but that only matters if the show in question is sustainable domestically. Unfortunately for FF fans, the show's US ratings were abysmal.

  13. CBS canceled Without A Trace and that show routinely drew 12 million viewers. It just goes to show you that demo ratings are really all that matter.

  14. That's what I was thinking. Isn't 2010-2011 the season we're in right now?

    ReplyDelete
  15. no, they are really talking about the current seasons length. it's 2010-2011

  16. lol..all csis are shooting 22!
