Being Human, BBC Three's award winning and critically-acclaimed drama series, written and created by Toby Whithouse, will return for a fourth series next year.
Following the gripping series three finale - in which overnight figures show 1.1m viewers watched Mitchell fall victim to the wolf-shaped bullet - series four will see the aftermath as the housemates return to their home in Barry Island. The series will also introduce some new faces following the success of recent guest artists Lacey Turner, Robson Green and Michael Socha.

i hope the vampire michael returns
ReplyDeleteMitchell won't return, people need to get that into their heads!
ReplyDeleteyeah as herrick said there's no coming back from a stake!
ReplyDeleteThough highly unlikely, that doesn't mean Mitchell couldn't come back as a ghost. Not that there is anything or anyone-besides George-he has to come back to after Annie and Nina turned on him quicker than it takes either of the two to slip on a pair of panties.
ReplyDeleteThe series 3 finale solidified it for me-- the show just won't be the same without Mitchell. They really messed up his storyline. I understand that what he did was very, very wrong. I do. And he deserved to be punished. But killing him off entirely? Especially after he was betrayed by Nina and Annie didn't even shed a tear when he was staked? Wow. The finale felt rushed and sloppy, with a lot of out-of-character interactions that I'm not sure I want to see again come series 4.
ReplyDeleteIt really irks me with the whole "I won't watch without Mitchell."
ReplyDeleteThese writers have been giving us so much for the past few years. They had to come up with a finale that differed from their original plan once Aidan Turner (Mitchell) requested they kill his character due to his leaving the show.
There are inconsistencies and there are some faults. But they gave that character the most fitting ending. He died "being human." Something he never achieved while alive on the show. One character did not make the show. And, although he did form a bigger chemsitry (the trio), the writers were clever enough to come up with it the first time, I'm sure they can do it again.
Never close a book a quarter way through. You'll possibly miss out on heaps of goodness.
Well, the thing is for me, the dynamic of the show has changed dramatically, something that bothered me even at the beginning of series three. It's not so much the fact that Mitchell was killed, but the fact that what it took to get to that part of the story really changed the tone of the show in a way that I didn't particularly enjoy. His death, in my opinion, served as a powerful emphasis that there's no going back to what was before. I still think BH is a wonderful show... I just don't enjoy it like I used to, and with Mitchell's death I was left feeling a bit let down with the way things are going.
ReplyDeleteSo yes, I won't watch without Mitchell, but that's more because he represented an era of the show that I very much loved (and is now gone for good, I'd wager), as opposed to me refusing to watch because Aiden is no longer prettifying my tv each week.
This is exactly how I feel. It wasn't just the finale, the episode before that was, IMO good, but bad at the same time. I simply couldn't or didn't want to understand why they had turned on him that quickly. And what really made it worse for me was the fact that they didn't acknowledge any of Annie nor Nina's actions that set all the recent events into motion. They were so quick to see Mitchell's demise but simply refused to see that they did anything wrong. Mitchell may have killed the people on that train but they got all those cops, reporter, wolves, and several of the other people that Herrick slayed, killed. Had they trusted in their friend (and I say that loosely because they didn't act like they knew him at all), they would've stacked his crazy ass before more people could be killed. Nina brought him home and Annie helped champion to keep him there. I can go on all day about Annie/Nina's incompetence but there isn't enough time in the world.
ReplyDeleteSo excited and I think the show will be perfectly fine without Mitchell, his demise was inevitable since S1.
ReplyDeleteBeing Human is supposed to be about the three of them, I can't see how it would be any good without Mitchell, I would say he gets the biggest fan base. Although I like them all, I have to say, Mitchell was the main reason I watched it for 3 Seasons.
ReplyDeletewhy mitchell had to die??!!
ReplyDelete:(
i hope so, i cried a lot
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The ending was well done, considering how it ended but the rest of the episode was poorly put together.
ReplyDeleteSame here
ReplyDeleteUm everyone..... Mitchell had to die. Aidan Turner got a part as a dwarf on the Hobbit here in New Zealand. Even though I'm sad there will be no more Mitchell, at least he has some recognition and can get more jobs. We will see him around!
ReplyDeletei love the show and will watch it until the end.............sad that hes gone but i love the show.... i am sure they have something great waiting for us when it comes around for the next season.....
ReplyDeleteI shocked I guess. Michell is dead. :( BUT! I think his charackter was a little pesky sometimes. I loved Mitchell but he cried all the time that "Oh I killed again. What am I supposed to do? Annie and George can't know because I am not that vampire..." Grrr... I understand him, really am i and I felt with him, but it was getting boring after 3 season. The writers gave a very touching and beautiful ending chapter to him. :) He deserved it. :) And we are lucky that a brilliant actor into the role. :) I hope the writers'll make an other vampire character who presents a new perspective how to be a vampire. :) I think this series won't be gripping story without a vampire charackter. So I wait the new series and the new charachters. :)
ReplyDeleteWe here in America won't get to see the last episode of series 3 until Saturday, April, 9. It's an awesome show!
ReplyDeleteDid Everyone know that there is a US version of the show. The budget is bigger and so far the show is awesome.P.S. The acting of all 3 is awesome. The U.K version is also awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was an absolute shock to us! We did not expect George to be the one to kill Mitchell. I don't know how the story can go on with out a vampire. There was a strange and natural balance to the charachters and the storyline. We are curious to see what will happen next.
ReplyDeleteI cried so much, I love BBC Being human. I will miss mitchell so much please work away for him to return.
ReplyDeleteI dunno.... I haven't been impressed with the US version at all...
ReplyDeleteThe US version of BH just cannot compare to the UK version, hearing the exact same script played by Americans doesnt seem right after watching the amazing UK version
ReplyDeleteBeing Human was a great idea for sure. It’s the whole concept of a vampire, werewolf, and a ghost all living together in the same house that makes it sound interesting to me. Personally I like Being Human on BBC America. I do however have some great news for cable viewers here. You can get all of your favorite shows like Being Human in HD for less money than you are paying cable by switching to DISH Network. As a DISH Network customer/employee I switched from cable TV to DISH, and have never been happier with my pay TV service.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that being Human won't be the same without Mitchell. But you can't really blame the writers. It was Aidan Turner himself who wanted to leave the show, because he got the part as Kili the dwarf in "The Hobbit". Aidan would not have time to film Being Human and also film "The Hobbit", so he had to make a choice. And it was Aidan and the creator of the show, Toby Withouse, that came up with the ending that George was going to stake mitchell.
ReplyDeleteRead Being Human creator Toby Withouse's explanation here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/beinghuman/2011/03/the_final_act.html
I love Mitchell, but I also understand Aidan Turners decition. And I think it was right, after I got over the shock of George staking Mitchell. :)
I agree with a bunch of these comments. The ending of season 3 wasn't very well put together (although, I suppose the writers did as much as they could with the little time they must have had). I did like the fact that George was the one to kill him. I mean to be completely honest, by the end of the show I just wanted Mitchell to die already. He was worse than Louise in the book Interview with the Vampire, ha.
ReplyDeleteBUT all in all, good season, I love Being Human so the show really can't do wrong in my eyes. I am so excited to see how the relationships between the characters may change, if they're going to perhaps bring in a new vampire OR a new supernatural being into the group. Although, yes, Mitchell will be missed but I really do feel that this is an excellent opportunity for the writers to experiment and get their hands dirty with it a bit. When I had first heard about this show I had thought it was too cheesy and just another supernatural show, BUT it has blown my mind. This show is so well written and so well directed and acted and so brilliantly done as a whole (the make up is AMAZING!) that I am now a devoted fan, who has complete faith in the Being Human team!
This show makes Twilight and Vampire Diaries look like neighbours and Dawsons Creek! As usual, it takes the Brits to make top quality TV. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThat could have been a plot device as it was mentioned so close to both of them getting the stake. My guess is he will come back as a ghost.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I have seen both the US and UK versions and I absolutely love the UK version way better. I mean the US version is not bad in fact I’m sure if I would have seen this one first I would have loved it but since I saw the UK version first I fell in loved with the character from this show and I just cant seam to accept different ones. I just found myself comparing everything with the original and I just couldn’t enjoy it the same. I also like how some thing happened in the original better like when Annie and the gang scared her ex-fiancé I loved that scene it was just what I expected I was a little disappointed with the US version of this scene. The end of third season was shocking I cant believe Mitchell is gone I just love him and Annie together I waited three season for them too be tougher for them to end so soon but what can u do I cant wait for season four see what happened and how is going to change without Mitchell in the picture.
ReplyDeleteMitchell has to come back if he doesn't the show will not survive. A great way to write him back in is to have the situation that happened when he went to purgatory, or even a nightmare of a new character that's clairvoyant or something. but to remove his character you might as well not continue the series.
