'Siege' was the name of the sixth episode of the season of V and was by far one of the best episodes yet.
The episode saw Eli and the Fifth Column capture Ryan to find out why he betrayed them. Erica managed to stop Eli from killing Ryan without an explanation from Ryan. Before Ryan gets a full chance to explain, Erica and Eli find themselves surrounded by the FBI. Erica soon realises that she has been left out of this, she believes it's because they think she is a traitor.
As there is no escape, Erica decides to pretend to be taken hostage by Eli which convinces the FBI leaders that she is not working with the Fifth Column. Joe (Erica's ex-husband) manages to sneak in to rescue her after he and Tyler see the situation unfold on TV. Anna also spots that Erica is taken hostage and decides that both her and Joe must be killed in order to get Tyler's full commitment to the Visitors. Anna assists the FBI in bringing down the Fifth Column.
Kyle also showed his true colours and betrayed the group setting off the bombs that were attached to the suicide bombers after making a deal with the Vs! It was great to go back to this storyline. When we first met Kylie he seemed a bit dodgy but that had been forgotten about, it was great to see what his real intentions were. I was a bit disappointed that we lost Eli and Joe though. Eli had the potential to be a great character.
Overall, it was a brilliant episode. The scene with the shooting was very intense and very well acted by Elizabeth Mitchell. Anna gets what she wanted after an emotional scene between Tyler and Erica as Tyler goes up to the ship even though Erica tries to convince him she is the one responsible for his dad's death.
Easily the best episode this season if not of the whole series. Fantastic performance from all the actors especially Elizabeth Mitchell (who deserves an Emmy for that), and just brilliant writing and pace! It has re-awakened my love for V! Long live the Fifth Column!

I agree, definitely one of the best, if not the best....nice review
ReplyDeleteI agree it was a super amazing episode .. but I was disappointed by two things:
ReplyDeleteJoe's death AND Kyle's "Sara" secret .. the first was just 'coz I really liked him but the second is because I fear might not turn out that great .. I don't wanna Kyle keeping secrets from the other the way Ryan did AND ALSO being part of 'the cause' for Joe's death, I see their way out of this Kyle story is to kill him & he apologizes for Erica in death bed.. we already lost Ryan, who's a regular, & I heartily pray Hobbes don't go that way ..
but overall, it was such a powerful episode..
I was dissappointed that Eli and Joe died, but I don't think you can seriously say that Hobbes is intentionally a bad person. I myself, found that Mesure did really well in this episode. First of all you must remember that Hobbes has been living for himself, for the past many years that he has been a mercenary, so caring about others is probably not a first instinct for him. And you can see for the first time since he has joined the show Hobbes is showing genuine regret for what he has done. This is quite obvious in the way he paused after he saw Erica crying over Joe, and later when he could not look at her at the end of the episode. I don't remember him ever being that vulnerable. I believe that he cares for Erica on some level, even respects her. When she came up to him at the end with that comment about Ryan, you could see the relief in his face, when he realised that she didn't know that he was responsible for Joe's Death. I think a part of him doesn't want her to hate him. Yeah, it sucks that he betrayed them so easily, but i have to give him credit, for caring in the end.
ReplyDeleteKyle was regreat of what he did..he will hel Eria with no more betrayal I believe..
